I bought my Troll Assault Wagon last weekend and, to cut a long story short, after opening it found that one of the parts was... squashed? *wacko*

post-2052-1206151320.jpg

X-O It appears that when the bag was sealed, the whip was melted into the seal, and nobody noticed it. I didn't even know this was possible, but it appears it is. I have of course since returned it, but it is a very weird occurrence, and probably doesn't happen often, if ever.

Still, I thought it might be something you all might be interested to see. X-D

I had a piece in my motorcycle chase indiana jones set that was supposed to be tan but was a weird greenish colour compared to the other tan pieces, I just sent a complaint mail to the customer service section on lego.com and they asked what piece was faulty, I sent back the peeron name and colour and they send 2 replacement pieces within 10 days from germany to australia!

just send them a mail and you should get a replacement (or 2) sent to you

Wow, that certainly is... unusual. Who would have thought something like that could happen? *wacko* The good thing is Lego is very good with fixing these problems and giving you replacement parts. *y*

Yikes. 8- Now I'm having second thoughts about buying mine.

Im sure you dont have to worry about it, because its just a freak accident. :-| Besides, who likes those whips anyways... ;-)

(I don't)

LOL. That is strange. Well, I say it would be a one in a 100,000 chance (forgive my C-3poness) of that happening. But look on the bright side, a collector may pay good money for that.

Very interesting, indeed... Thanks for sharing. Has anyone noticed this before or are these just happening recently? Could there be a connection with the advent move of Lego facilities in other countries/location, thus new employees and all?

This looks like a one-time freak thing and shouldn't be anything to worry about. The main quality problems these days center around color/density issues.

I remember getting a 1x10 plate with an 8480 Space Shuttle many years ago, which had an odd deformation at one corner. It looked as if the plastic hadn't completely filled the mold and there was a kind of rounded slit along the edge there, although it still fit okay with other pieces. I still have it somewhere.

I don't want to open a new topic, so I'm replying to the newest I found.

Over the last two days, I built my 7743 Police mobile command center. Two big quality problems:

1) the 1x1 yellow plate with clip looks a lot different than the other yellow pieces (lighter and greener), but that's not a big deal.

2) Plate 2 x 2 with Wheel Holder: there are 6 of them on the truck; two just don't work! Wheels don't spin! I tried switching wides but nothing changed. Do you think I can ask for a replacement?

I don't remember anything wrong with my parts when I bought sets.

I feel lucky

When I bought a Police Motorcycle set, one of the white 2x1 plates was white blended with red. It´s hard to explain, I can post a pic if you want.

Sure do! I really like to see it. It sounds really weird and cool at the same time. :sweet:

As long as you get replacement parts for free, I think it's no big deal. I also found some quality problems in my Market Street set. A 2x2 brick showed some sort of scratches on its top, but only if you looked at it good enough. Some dark blue 1x2 bricks were not as dark blue as the other bricks. And on two plates there is a dot in their centre, a relict from the moulding process. I haven't informed LEGO about that yet.

I found a slightly faulty piece yesterday as well, in 6241 Loot Island. The upper crocodile head's connection joint was made a little to small to put on the main body, however after a few minutes I finally did manage to get the head on, but some white stress marks have formed near the connection prongs :sceptic: . Lego better regain it's once superior quality sometime real soon  .

There were a couple of issues with an 8421 Mobile Crane I got recently, leaving aside the Megablok colors (which are a standard thing these days). The string it came with was too thick and wouldn't rotate through the hook smoothly. After messing with it for a while, I gave up and just replaced it with a sewing thread instead, although that is creating some issues of its own.

The set also comes with many of these, some of which are used for the steering. A few looked glossy, but most were made of a cheaper looking material and their pins wouldn't turn smoothly in holes. I think these parts were made of the glossy plastic when the set was first released, and it wasn't designed for the newer kind.

As is common with large sets these days, packaging inside the box was nonexistent and the manuals and sticker sheet were crumpled by the other stuff inside.

Lego better regain it's once superior quality sometime real soon.

I kind of doubt this will happen. They might do something about the colors if we're lucky, but like many companies they have realized that it's cheaper to allow a few bad parts and send replacements to people who complain than to have strict quality controls in the production process.

I had a problem with this set too. My turkey leg was snapped in half, with the bottom half where the "bone" would be not anywhere to be found. I reported this online and got two new ones in about a week.

Considering this is a fluke accident, you'd be a foolto let somthing like this prevent you from buying a set.

Lego does have suppoir quality. And no, somthing as minor as this as well as slight color variations is nothing to get too excited over. Especailly when you look at the horrendous quality that mega Blocks is.

They're honestly not all that different anymore, especially in terms of colors. The reason to buy Lego today is their outstanding set designs, not the brick quality.

You've also got to remember that Lego pieces are made from oil, which I don't need to mention that prices the last few years have skyrocketed (minus their recent free fall). The whole economy and items in general are getting smaller / more cheaply made while Lego has stayed relatively consistent.

Maybe a little late, but here´s the pic:

(It was hard to take a good pic of it, this is the best I got. The red is much more visible in reality.)

I can see how the color is weird in your brick, Dennimator, but I can't see any red.

I have also seen more parts quality slips recently. For example, various sized slopes are smooth on all sides, instead of having that rough texture on the angled part. Also, some of the bricks don't seem to fit properly on others. For example, the bottom of a 1x6 brick had stud space too small to fit on top of other pieces, so when I tried attaching it, it slipped an cut my wrist. Lego is dangerous! Another example is that some minifigures' legs are too big to fit on studs. Hopefully these problems will be at least be improved soon.

As I said, it was very hard to take a pic of it. However it partially shows up as pink. Here´s a close-up on it:
