Naturally, the captains assumed the worst. When they were invited to visit with Sinbad, they came with great apprehension. Sinbad explained that the HMS Red Angel and the Lightning would be detained in Bastion until something could be worked out between himself and Corrington. The captains protested, but quickly stopped when Sinbad drew his knife. Sinbad said, "You understand that my honor will not allow me to let you sail away freely after you fired upon my ships. If Corrington can do something to sooth my honor, perhaps you'll be allowed to sail again. Until then, you shall remain my guests here in Bastion." OoC: This is an official action. Fraunces Posted June 28, 2018 Posted June 28, 2018 I really like the story and all the nice small builds you make for them. But especially the effort you put into making a realistic (coöp)story. Keep it up! You got fans watching Quote
Mesabi Posted June 28, 2018 Posted June 28, 2018 @MKJoshA I'll get back to this, but for future reference, the Captain of the Red Angel is Ansa Mesabi, Trumpets of Ares by North White, on Flickr I have no idea who you took off the ship. @LM71Blackbird did you ever make a captain for the lightning? Great build and story though. Quote
LM71Blackbird Posted June 29, 2018 Posted June 29, 2018 @MKJoshA Curious developments... Only time will tell how the Great Nation of Corrington will respond to this... Oh, and here is the link for the Lightning. @Mesabi I never made a captain for the Lightning, so I'm good with the generic one. Quote

Mesabi Posted June 29, 2018 Posted June 29, 2018 A letter was sent by messenger to Sinbad To Captain Sinbad, My name is Captain Ansa Mesabi, captain and commanding officer of this fleet. As you have told my men that we are not to leave Bastion until something can be "worked out," we should discuss your requests to us. You are hereby invited to dine aboard my ship, the Red Angel to discuss terms and other matters that concern you. We eagerly await your response, and look forward to hosting a captain as great as yourself. Sincerely, Captain Ansa Mesabi @MKJoshA, please respond accordingly. (Of course you will be afforded with protection, and you are free to bring body guards and weapons if you so choose.) Quote
LM71Blackbird Posted June 29, 2018 Posted June 29, 2018 Will Sinbad get the special guest guillotine chair? Or maybe a breaking gangway? JK... JK... Quote

I will agree to meet you and the captain of the Lightning on the dock next to your ship with guards allowed for all parties. On this neutral ground perhaps we can come to terms. Sincerely, Sinbad Quote
Mesabi Posted June 29, 2018 Posted June 29, 2018 The two parties had agreed to meet on neutral ground. Sinbad's personal chef had cooked up a turkey from the island for the negotiations. Dock of Destiny by North White, on Flickr At the table, Captain Mesabi poured them both a glass of wine. "I took this bottle from a Olelander villa in the Juniper War. I've been saving it for a special occasion. This seemed appropriate." Sinbad sat at the table. LM71Blackbird Posted June 30, 2018 Posted June 30, 2018 (edited) @MKJoshA From the Captain of the Lightning to the honorable Sinbad, penned during your meeting with Captain Ansa Mesabi. Dear sir, One month ago, when I embarked on what was supposed to be a routine patrol with the WTC Judgement, I was unawares that the intention of the Judgement's captain was to take on the biggest and well-equipped fleet the Sea Rats sail. I certainly wouldn't have agreed to such a thing in our inferior vessels knowing that your magnificent flagship, The Komodo Dragon was in command. However, when one ship engages, it is not looked upon kindly to leave a fellow comrade on the field of battle. Now as our foreign ships rest in the well defended harbor of Bastian, I implore you, from one honorable sailor to another, that you would allow the safe passage, of my ship the Lightning, to return back to Corrington waters. I have no quarrel with you, and give you my word that not one shot will be fired from my vessel. I will eagerly await the visit of your messenger. Until then, Captain Bartholomew Andrews ------------------------------ OOC, this is pretty much the rundown of what happened MKJoshA. I'll leave it in your ball park on what you want to do as a honorable captain. Edited June 30, 2018 by LM71Blackbird Quote
Mesabi Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 @MKJoshA As this is probably going to take longer than the July 2nd deadline for MCRAs, Our ships will not leave port this MCRA unless something dramatic happens. Considering however, you waited till 5 days before the deadline, and are now giving me radio silence I consider this extremely poor form. I do know Brickworld happened recently, so I am understanding, and I know life can get in the way. However, it takes 30 seconds to say, "Sorry I'm busy, lol" (lol is optional) Quote
MKJoshA Posted July 1, 2018 Author Posted July 1, 2018 @Mesabi @LM71Blackbird Yes, I have been busy. My weekends are some of the only time I can spend with my kids, so they take priority. I am not trying to give you radio silence, but I also don't have time for a fancy, IC reply. If you each want to give me 5000 DBs and promise not to attack Sea Rat vessels (black flag or otherwise) for the next 3 months, you can sail your ships out of Bastion this MCRA. I'm sorry if you think this is poor form, but so is attacking my ships and then sailing into my home Quote

Attacking your ships however is just playing the game, you can't fault us for that... But 5000 Dbs, yeah, I've never even had anything close to that in my account, so I wouldn't advise Sinbad to hold his breath waiting for that happen... Since you've already got one prize in the form of the WTC Judgement, what about at least letting my ship go with the promise that I will not send it anywhere to attack a pirate for 4 months? I'm a relatively new player, so there's no way I can afford that amount. I could even to a story build and put a plug in it for Sinbad being a honorable pirate and kind enough to let a tired group of sailors go home? Who wouldn't want free publicity? Oh, and enjoy your time with your kids! You'll never look back and wish you spent more time replying to strangers online! Edited July 1, 2018 by LM71Blackbird Quote

Spud The Viking Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 So now I understand what the WTC has been stockpiling gunpowder for Well written @Mesabi, I look forward to how this story further escalates. Quote
Mesabi Posted July 1, 2018 Posted July 1, 2018 Before Everyone starts yelling, let me just clarify a few things. Quote 2.) You cannot infringe on another person’s story without their permission. IE: You can’t rob, plunder, and kill another player’s characters or property without first agreeing with the player to do so. There are plenty of resolution methods to help settle disputes or perhaps two or more builders want to plan out a story arc where some of their property is attacked by the other -- this is fine. Exceptions – MCRA results (see the MCRA Thread for more details), or squatting (see the Property Thread for more details). As I have not KILLED, only ATTEMPTED to KILL Sinbad, I have not violated the first rule. Consider also: Quote The captains protested, but quickly stopped when Sinbad drew his knife. [Image of Sinbad holding a Knife to Corrish Character's throats.] As @MKJoshA has lethally threatened characters of Corrington, I claim the right to lethally threaten characters of his. Additionally, there are built in exceptions for MCRA Results. This is an MCRA Result, as it is titled. Therefore exceptions apply. Quote

MKJoshA Posted July 2, 2018 Author Posted July 2, 2018 IC response: Ah, captain Mesabi perhaps you should have been a Sea Rat. Or perhaps all of Corrington has less honor than a faction of pirates. Stop your yakking and release our ships! The Strychnine will take effect soon, you don't have much time. Maybe you should have planned better, if I don't give the order to release you before I'm dead, what will you do then? Try to shoot your way out? You are guests now, but that could change very quickly. I know what I'm doing. If you did, you wouldn't have used Strychnine. You see, I spent that last few years building up an immunity to Strychnine. What!?! And while you've killed my guards, you didn't count on the 8 other captains and their crews docked here next to us. All the captains: Spoiler Sulu - captain of the Golden Dragon Ching Shih - captain of the Viper Jack Rodgers - captain of the Clearance Gerald Scott - captain of the Queen Annetta's Price Chen Po - captain of the Morning Fog Benjamin Dobbs - captain of the Warped Wood Tom Howell - captain of the Pineapple Revenge Jay Featherstone - captain of the Darting Frog So now you need to negotiate the release of your ships, and how you're going to pay for the damages done to the docks of Bastion. OoC Response: @LM71Blackbird I have considered your plight and your offer. I am going to hold your ship for this MCRA. That will be payment enough. After this one, you are free to sail away as long as you refrain from attacking any Sea Rats, Black Flag or otherwise for 3 months. If I happen to capture the Lightning during those months, I will release it back to you. If I sink it, you will receive my deepest apologies. @Mesabi I was going to consider letting your ship go after this MCRA. However, you now have damages to pay for destroying part of the dock and killing some of my men. Not to mention attempting to kill Sinbad. Your ship will be free to go after this current MCRA if you agree to pay 150 DBs for damages and promise not to attack any Sea Rats, Black Flag or otherwise for 3 months. If I happen to capture the HMS Red Angel during those months, I will release it back to you. If I sink it, you will receive my deepest apologies. Quote
