Carefull showing it before voting takes place might invalidate your entry.

Where did you get this from? I find it really hard to believe, so I'd like to hear an official word on this from the judges.  @Jim or @Milan, if I show my entry on a meeting next Sunday, would that disqualify my entry? And if so, why?

All I could find in the rules about this, is the following:

GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS

  • Entries need to be new (never posted anywhere previously or shown at an event/LUG meeting).

I would say that everyone can see that my entry is new, given the extensive WIP photos, and I'd say that a week before the deadline doesn't exactly fall within the word "previously". Given the spirit of the rule, rather than the letter, I am fairly sure I'm safe.

Dunno if I can finish it in time,  but I haven't withdrawn yet

I actually did paste it, not sure where it went.

It means Shown Before The Contest Starts. You are fine to show it Erik.

You're good Erik!

Made me doubt for a second, but there's no problem showing it. Maybe the rule does need some refinement, but that's another discussion. For now, do it.

How come no one got the idea to build a ride for the competition with some kind of yo-yo effect? Basically something that jerks you around from one direction to another or opposite direction very violently.

Any chance of an extension past the 3rd? School and work have taken over my time and I still got a bunch of stuff to do on my entry.  If not, I 100% understand.

Best of luck to the contestants

Actually, with the new job I am having some time issues myself. I will add a couple of days to make my own life easier as well

This means I will wrap things up on Saturday, so you all have at least till Friday

Check the entry rules

Okay, so I have worked on my model for quite some time now and I'm soon done with it. I haven't created a topic yet so I wonder if it's necessary to create the topic before the model is finished. I haven't taken any photos while building so I don't know what I should do if that's the case.

Or is the purpose of that rule to prevent contestants from reserving an idea without actually working on any model?

A topic is still necessary. It's a place where people can discuss your MOC in particular, ask you questions about it, and praise you for your work.
Next to that, The entry topic allows for a maximum of 1 video, 3 pictures and a very limited amount of text.

Your personal MOC topic however can contain as many pictures, video's and text as you see fit. So next to it being mandatory, it is also in your interest:wink:.
If you feel massively lazy your MOC topic can be an exact copy of your entry topic post, but I think you would benefit from giving potential voters more context and pictures.

Yeah I understand it's in my interest to create a discussion topic, but then it's not necessary to create that topic before the model is finished. Thank you for your explanation!

Do we just change the name of our WIP thread to MOC when we get finished or do we need a WIP and a separate MOC discussion topic thread as well as our entry post in the contest thread?
