tafkatb Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 I'm seriously tempted by the townhouse. I mean, I already have Park Street Townhouse, two different cafés (in Assembly Square and the Bike Shop & Café), the Pet Shop, and the Amusement Park Hot Dog Van, so I guess technically it doesn't offer much that I don't already have, but I still really like it. I'm curious to see what the buildings in the B-model are; that might tip the balance for me. And that UFO fairground ride is a thing of beauty. Quote

That's totally it! I wonder if a castle-themed ride could happen too. I also think it could be fun to modify the space ride so each car represents a different space subtheme from over the years. OK, I think I just effectively talked myself into buying it. Quote

Yeah, while last year's rollercoaster had callbacks to Lego's Classic Pirate sets, this "Space" ride instead takes inspiration from '50s B-movie tropes rather than Lego's Classic Space legacy. As for the potential of a Castle-themed ride next year, I could see something medieval dragon-themed more specifically, though I can't immediately think of what sort of ride such a set could be. BenderBrau Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 UFO carousel - doesn't do much for me, maybe due to the fact that I don't like when technic beams are so prominent in what should be a system build I will wait with final judgement until better pictures or reviews are available Twin rotor - might be interesting, it should be about as big as the air drop heli from 60162 (it has the same canopy) and it looks like a play feature will make both rotors spin at the same time; secondary builds look quite alright, too. I like the color scheme, finally something different than plain blue. Townhouse - it's briliant, a worthy succesor to 31036, 31050 and 31065. Maybe it's a bit hodgepodge-y with four colour schemes, but still miles better than the "modulars" with swappable doors and windows. It's weird though there are no animals shown with the pet shop Quote
icm Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 1: It's interesting to see the Fairground subtheme of Creator Expert being carried over into Creator Three in One. 2: Although I've liked the Modular Buildings I've seen in person well enough, I haven't felt the urge to buy any myself. This summer's Creator Three in One building is a real return to form for Creator Three in One buildings, though, and it's quite possible I may buy it at some point. 3: I've enjoyed every Creator Three in One minifig scale aircraft since 2015, and this is certainly a worthy entry in the line! Well, for me at least, I find these two sets we've seen so far to more be analogously akin to the "quasi-modular buildings" we've seen over the years with Creator's Three-In-One line, rather than actually being a part of the Creator Expert Fairground subtheme to any degree. icm Posted March 30, 2019 Posted March 30, 2019 I didn't mean that the roller coaster and carousel in Creator Three-in-One are part of the Creator Expert Fairground subtheme, I meant that Creator Three-in-One now also seems to have a fairground subtheme. I thought that was pretty clear. Sorry for not making that clear. Quote

Agent 86 Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 I’m looking forward to seeing better images of the Cafe and Pet Shop and the UFO ride. I am encouraged by the residential building - it seems to still adopt the “modularity” of the more recent ones, but with plenty of more detail. The modern pet shop / skyscraper side looks interesting, although the more classic architecture of the cafe appeals to me more. Quote
K_Tiger Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 Man, colors aside, that 3-in-1 helicopter with the intermeshing rotors is cooooool. Quote

Like I'd said earlier, I find it quite comparable to Agents' 8971 Aerial Defence Unit, except definitely a little cleaner. Quote
TeriXeri Posted April 1, 2019 Posted April 1, 2019 (edited) Love the corner style building of the Cafe/Petshop , it's like a hybrid of the older sets with sidewalks, and the "modular" 3-in-1's. Feels like a mashup of those 2 sets but done well. For me this could be my fav set of 2019. Edited April 1, 2019 by TeriXeri Quote
TheGlynreaper Posted April 1, 2019 Posted April 1, 2019 ok even without seeing any pictures I will be picking up the ufo ride and pet shop sets I've never really been interested in helicopters unfortunately im surprised at how big my creator 3 on 1 collection is growing it is a theme im appreciating more Quote

I don't buy those bigger modular sets though due to space issues but I do admit a lot are fantastic really the closest thing to a modular I built was the ghostbusters hq but I kept having trouble when moving it due to the weak bases I think my favourites of the creators are usually the animal themed sets Quote

The 3-in-1 line is my favorite theme right now, especially the minifig scale sets. Some Alternate builds have been great as well. I do like the overlap of some themes like City, Hidden Side, Xtra with Creator, and Friends and some Classic/Seasonal/LEGO Store sets. We saw how the Fairground/Amusement Park theme the last couple years got many sets, including 2019, has had a pretty wide range of sets across multiple themes, I think it's a good thing to have variation on the same subject. TheGlynreaper Posted April 1, 2019 Posted April 1, 2019 im wondering if the ufo ride set's 2 alternate builds are other amusement rides or completely different things altogether I also recall a few years there was a space ride set in the LEGO Friends amusement park theme Quote
Bricked1980 Posted April 1, 2019 Posted April 1, 2019 Wow, I'm really impressed with the look of the pet shop / cafe. The set seems to have the same style of sidewalk and the same general aesthetic of past 3in1 sets like the corner deli, so it is obviously intended to fit in with those buildings. It is clearly an open backed building. However I'm wondering if it might be possible to remove the corner section of sidewalk and close the building up, in the same way that you can with the Corner Deli. Quote

I presume so, although the third floor apartment (?) would have a missing fourth wall since the café is two storeys and the pet shop is three storeys. Quote

Same applies to motorcycles. Also, can the pet shop be turned into a rescue shelter? Quote

Lordofdragonss Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 I hoped for UFO creator set, not a ride :/ The Pet shop looks great though and I can't wait to get final pictures! Quote

A set like that could've potentially given us some recolors/reissues of Series 6's Classic Grey Alien. Quote
