gylman Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 For a small site of recent origin, Eurobricks has become really quite a nice place to call a "LEGO home". Lugnet seems to be dying as a community - mostly a place a post MOCs now (too much politics and too many people who take themselves too seriously I guess). The other strong sites (BZpower, FBTB, classic-castle) are too specialized for a general Lego fan. "legofan.org"..... well, it doesn't seem that being officially associated with TLC helps it much - they seem to get about a post a day on the forums. Eurobricks is often first to note new sets, new developments, and the bigger sites will link to it. Forums here are active, people here are nice, opinionated (which is good), and like to post about nothing at all of importance (which is good actually). What more can I say. Good job Jipay (and whoever else is behind the scenes). I hope to be here a while. Cheers. Gyl Quote
eDeevo Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 I am in total agreement... the youngings over at fbtb have caused me to want to visit there less & less... like you stated, "too many people who take themselves too seriously"... Life is Good (@ the Eurobricks community :-D ). Quote
The Middleman Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 Yeah, I love it here. I also agree with your comment about Legofan.org... they're really pretentious for having so little traffic. They actually just resorted to saying 'join and you'll be entered in a drawing for an ISD!'. A good community shouldn't have to do that. Anyway, hopefully more people will end up realizing how great Eurobricks is and we'll become one of the 800+ member communities... :-D Quote
Hobbes Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 I am registered at LUGNET and legofan.org but I have yet to post there. And I don't know when that will be - or if at all. I do read posts now and then but I just don't... I dunno... I just don't wanna post ;) Here I had my first post right after I registered (the "Hello! My Name is..."-forum helped it, though). Once that is done the rest develops itself. The "reactions" of the members here and the overall "atmosphere" of the boards is much more friendly than elsewhere and made me wanna stay and take part in conversations. That hasn't happened yet at LUGNET or legofan.org. LUGNET became very serious and - as stupid as it sounds - I don't dare post there... As gylman already mentioned: you can argue here, but it's not too serious and different opinions are accepted. I felt "home" here pretty quickly :D Quote
Jipay Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 Ah ah thank you so much :-D I know, I know, we are such a great community :-D Well, whenwe launched the "we will never be a serious board" concept, we knew some people like us took lego as a hobby, a toy and didn't want to spend countless hours of their lives arguying with the other about MOCs and so. I am happy we succeeded in keeping the spirit so far. Oh, and Gylman, we will see later for the little payment... :P Quote
Vader Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 The relaxed attitude over here is something that we have strived to keep as weve gotten bigger, its been made alot easier by the fact that many of you are all relaxed and friendly so thank you for that. Quote
eDeevo Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 2 words: eurobricks rules! :-D I approve of those words... Life is Good. Quote
Norro Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 I really enjoy the sharp quick interaction of Eurobricks... even the title is OK ;) But I do have to come to the defence of Lugnet.... It was once the best community online and I would swap all the other sites to have it back. All themes could get specialized opinions in their own area while still bringing the best to the attention of everyone to cross fertilize ideas. Also the cross posting was great, and something in the forum forced people to 'compose' their comments carefully which made them very helpful on things like MOCs. Of course uncomposed comments are what makes Eurobricks great and I would love to have it as a relief to the original Lugnet but I do miss the glory days... Please don't take this as less than loyalty... I have all ready posted more on Euro than ever on Lugnet but I think anyone who missed the Lugnet of 3 years ago has not seen what a lego community can be... God Bless and thanks for this awsome site, Nathan Quote
