Well it's time to vote for the best of each section in the Build your own Impulse Set competition! I was very pleased how this turned out, especially how we had some first timers... and some old timers... enter. X-D Thanks everyone; this contest had 80 entries, which I think is a record for a Eurobricks contest. If it wasn't for the help of imperialshadows I would have been organizing this poll for about a week! *sing* Thanks again imperialshadows! *sweet*

The vote will last for about a week (depending on how close the results are) and the top 5 of each section will then go in a draw for the grand prize of my love! Remember, that in addition to the grand prize, copmike has been generous to offer a prize to the section winners. *sweet* So what are the prizes? Well what could be more appropriate than classic impulse sets? :-D (Postage will be provided by copmike as well.) The set for each section are at the top of the thumbnail list. When voting please remember that people were allowed to enter once per section so be sure that you are voting for the right entry! Please remember also that baseplates were an illegal part in this competition, so please don't give entries any bonuses for including one; try to ignore the piece... *wacko* On the subject of rules, the full rules are here, but as a quick re-cap, the goal was to build a custom impulse set of any theme, including old and custom ones, using 27 pieces plus a Lego man. Well that's enough ranting from me; on with the entries! (Click the thumbnail if you want to see the rest of the pictures.)

Yikes! Great job organizing the contest, Sinner. In stalking you the last couple of days, you've been in that contest thread non-stop. Good job as well ImperialShadows and thanks Copmike for the great prizes. The crazy king, as you call him, is actually the Pirate King and he came with the LEGO Chess Computer Game...

This is going to be a hard decision and I still haven't posted feedback for each entry, Yikes. It'll be interesting to see how this goes with all the incredible entries. I think we should do this more often. Everyone is so clever and creative. Congratulations everyone!

thanks Hinck! you did very well also. i even voted for you in pirates, it's just a wonderful combination of old style pirates with new parts and colours! (yes thats right, colours ;-) ) but there were lots of finalists for me, it was close!

Here are my votes:

City and space: Sir Nadroj, I'd love to join her. *wub*

History, Adventure and Pirates: LegoLyons, just laughed at the sight of this one. :-D

Licensed: TinyPiesRUs, my favourite scene from the movie. ;-)

That was a great and fun contest, so thanks!!! :-$

I've made my decision and it wasn't easy. All the entries were really great. Excellent job to everyone involved!

City and Space:

I was stuck between two entries here, Khorne and Yoda's. Yoda's is clearly funny to me because it includes a toilet. That right there's enough for me as I have a sophmoric sense of potty humor. But Khorne's was poignant, almost poetic and very nicely executed. I felt very much like Homer in the Simpsons episode where he was the judge in the film festival and he had to break the tie between Barney and Mr. Burns, but he wanted to vote for the Football in the Groin movie. Homer says "Barney's movie had heart, but "Football in the Groin" had a football in the groin." and I say, "Khorne's entry has heart, but Yoda's entry has a toilet." And in the end Homer chose Barney's movie because it was more artistic and I've done like Homer and voted for the more artistic entry: The toilet...

Pirates, etc.

This was the hardest one for me to choose from. In the end I chose Piranha's because it had a female fig and reminded me of the classic castle sets like Armor Shop and I would actually buy it.

Licensed:

This was the easiest for me to choose-Tanotrooper. What a cool set and a great function in that Prince whoever turns into the whatever spirit. I wish we would've seen more sets from this theme, but this is a cool concept and a well constructed entry. Nice job!

Excellent job everyone and best of luck. Cool Prizes On!

zero1312, SupremeCommmanderGrievous, Batbrick

You guys got my votes. :-D

Zero, I loved that little Exo-force craft, so sleek and neat, with some great pieces too. *y*

Grievous, what's not to love? A Dwarf, a double-bladed axe, weapons, armour, an anvil, 2 barrels, a Castle collector's dream! :-D I love it! *wub*

Batbrick: I love the idea of this. I never would have thought to make an Impulse set with Alfred, but it turned out great! The grandfather clock is awesome, we get a golden plate and a turkey leg, a black dog (Nice painting BTW!) some mail and trans glasses. And of course, Alfred. :-D I'd buy one for Alfred, and another for the parts! :-D

Great job you three, and everyone else! I had a hard time choosing, each entry is really great. *y* Kudos to you all.

Peace

It was my pleasure!

Now, the voting. I have no idea who to go for. I think I shall wait until I'm sure (you'd think I'd know from thumbnailing, but I don't... *wacko*).

City/Space: I went with KhoRne on this one. The bottle and litter are a nice addition, as is the stick carrying all his belongings (name escapes me..). And what town wouldn't be complete without a bum?

History/Adventure/Pirates: This one was tough, but in the end I chose Quarryman's. The princess and monkey are both great figures to have, and the fire place and dinner table are very cute. Nice job!

Licenced: It was a tough decision for me between LegoLyons and Tanotrooper, but I chose LegoLyons. It's such a nice simple set, and it looks just like a set TLC would give us. Quite a nice idea too, as the vault could be added to a larger bank *wub*

Thanks for creating this contest Sinner, it was great fun. Thanks to imperialshadows and copmike too, and good luck to everyone who participated ;-)

This was he hardest dissision i had to make allllll day! But I voted for Voxel, myself Stealth hunter and Saracen.

Voxel, i love the idea of the jelly disection, as i said in a previous thread!

Stealth hunter: love the idea of the black smith!

Saracen: I would so buy this! Love the sniper idea

*y* *y* *y* to all of you and everyone else who entered!

Great, great entries!

Here is who I voted for:

Alex54

It was so simple. That figure with the yellow bike had me sold *wub* .

The second category was a hard one, I oscillated from one side to the other...

in the end, I chose:

imperialshadows

This creation is both aesthetically pleasing and includes a good number of good parts.

For the last category, it was also hard to choose...

in the end, I chose:

mutley777

Mutley's Rebel transport buggy. It looks great *wub* . Lovely yellow combination and a nice peach rebel. Certainly something lego would release!

But to the rest, your entries were also very good :-) .

My votes:

City/Space

PaulC:Cause I just *wub* the idea of a MG nest Impulse.

History/Adventurers/Pirates

Imperialshadows:Because it´s a great idea to include a boat in the Impulse. :-D

Iamded:Warhammer ON! Need I say more?

Aw man, I just couldn't decide... they're all so good! But in the end I made the choice on which I'd have to buy if they were real.

I'd get a load of Rupee Clock's Cargo, 'cos the official sets never come with enough.

Supreme Commander Grievous' Dwarven Armourer is just too cool for school.

And thanks to Batbrick, Alfred won't cost me a fortune and his Wayne Manor accessories are just perfect!

Well done to everyone who entered!

This is what the Eurobricks spirit is all about *wub*!!!

Excellent and creative ideas en masse, people putting in loads of time & braincells hosting it and a lot of people reviewing the entry´s along the way *y*!

This is my votes:

KhoRne - so simple yet very intelligent. I really love the feel in this set. I´m going to have a least one bum in my "Café Corner"-city!!

skelliesgang - as others said before me, the hardest section! But bringing back the Orient Expedition theme with the red turban and a clean white throne was the perfect mix.

mutley777 - SW, you go girl theme! This is what´s been missing in the hangars of the rebels! Rounded form and lightning fast :-P !

A close secondplace to everybody else in all sections for great entries. There´s a lot of stuff there that I need to copy :'-)!

Here´s my updated post with feedback to all of you.

A massive thanks to Sinner for everything, and imperialshadows for the solid back-up. allhail.gif

Okie guys after carefull looking at all those great entries, I finally cast my votes !!

First I want to thank Sinner for such a cool contest and for extending the deadline *y* and also to IS for all the work on images *y*

Then I want to congrat all you guys who entered sweet mocs making this contest a great one ;-)

In the City/Space category, I voted for KhoRne's hilarious and well done hobo :-D

Then in the History, Adventure, Pirate I voted for LegoLyons for his drunken pirate bar scene !! Really amazing work on makit it "lively". Now I have that darn song in my head "what you're going to do with a drunken sailer (x3) early in the morning !!"

Finally the hardest decision for me was in the license category !! So many great entries it was really hard to choose from. Finally I hesitated between Mutley and IS. Mutley's entry is fantastic but I really am tired of those pilots :-D So I voted IS for his Jawaspeeder !! Me want mire Jawas !!

As you see for once I did not vote for myself X-D

Tks to al who voted for me and who will vote for me ;-)

*yoda*

Nyundi for Space and City - I would buy his entry in a heartbeat. It looks so official!

Very close 2nd place for Stealth Hunter and myself - but both aren´t as beautifully executed as Nyundi´s.

whitefang_sg for Castle - foliage, trees, and a dark mercenary setting up an ambush. Perfect little set, would buy this instantly, if only for the parts.

Very close 2nd place for Piranha, but I love green pieces so much :-)

mutley777 for licensed - Perfect design. I agree with a lot of folks around here, this is what has been missing in the SW Lego hangars. And another chance to upgrade the Rebellion minifig army :-)

Very close 2nd place for TinyPiesRUs - perfect, too. But there can only be so many mining wagons. The chance of troop building sold me on mutley777´s

First of all, thank you very much Hinckley for voting on my licensed entry. I'm very honored :'-)

city and space

KhoRne's hobo. No big pieces, no really wacky parts, a nice little scene, some accesoires and a hobo of course. A great idea for any city, although LEGO probaply won't release it, I love the idea.

history and adventure, pirates, etc.

Iamded's skellie with accesoires. I would have chosen other entries, but this is the one closest to the Impulse spirit, a campfire, some food, etc. wich are all on their on bases and don't use a big baseplate. Congrats for keeping the Impulse spirit alive.

licensed

Graynar's "guard". My favourite, as I'm trying to build myself a massive "notzi" army, this would come in very handy.

I'd like to thank all of you who voted for me, the other entries and of course all the persons who posted entries. You really have shown what the Impulse line could become. With some luck, LEGO will use this idea to make Impulse sets more wider, and use them from old, new or non-existing themes even.

TT

BTW: Sinner, could it be possible to frontpage this voting thread, because it's part of many forums?

What a great contest, to enter and to see every one elses entries. Well done all, and thanks to Sinner and Imperialshadows for the organisiation etc.

The votes from the Lyons jury:

CITY & SPACE:

KhoRne: Brilliant idea, nice choice of pieces, humour and colourful, what more can you ask for, my favourite entry by far.

HISTORY, ADVENTURE & PIRATES:

Xwingyoda: How else am I going to get one of them buxom islanders minifigs? Nice idea, and simple, could be aded to many a pirate scene.

LICENSED:

Tinypiesrus. Perfect little set, great minifig, weapon and it's just like the movie cart. Brilliant.

Thanks for those who have voted for me.

Then in the History, Adventure, Pirate I voted for LegoLyons for his drunken pirate bar scene !! Really amazing work on makit it "lively". Now I have that darn song in my head "what you're going to do with a drunken sailer (x3) early in the morning !!"
Hmmm thats funny as that was the basis for my idea. I hjeard the song and thought, Ahhhh theres an idea!!

I have enjoyed taking part.

I voted for my own and for Nadroj's temple. Good luck, everyone!
Voting for your own is in my opinion bad form |-/!

And you wrote that that the only other set you voted for is Sir Nadroj´s, so I´m guessing you gave yourself two out of three votes >:-( ?!

Why have a contest if everybody should vote for themself?

Vote for others than themself ON
