:-$ I just realised what I did; I added an entry called "City and Space" instead of "Landlubber". In hindsight, that's pretty funny! :-D

You know, I always wondered who that was... oh well, he didn't get any votes either. X-D

This is a great contest indeed, will like to extend my thanks to Sinner, ImperialShadow and Hinckley for making this contest a success. You have done a great job! *Thumbs Up*

CopMike, thanks for the lovely prizes donation ;-)

After many days of considerations, i had finally decided whom i should cast my vote to!

1) City and Space

KhoRne entry on the City Bum is great. Haha, i will love to have a bum in my little town. Yoda entry on the prisoner with the little toliet is so sweet and wonderful. Simple and great. After some careful thoughts, i decided to cast my vote for KhoRne for his unique and simple concept that a City will need *sweet*

2) History Adventure and Pirates

Klaus Dieter entry on the market scene is lovely and nice. While SuperemeCommanderGrievous allowed me to have plenty Dwarves impulse set. After balancing pros and cons, i will think a peasant impulse is more great to add in to my medival city streets. My vote goes to Klaus Dieter *sweet*

3) Licensed

Graynar Indiana Jones entry is a "Must" have impulse set for army building. I will need more of the German soliders. Closest to Graynar is again SuperemeCommanderGrievous, his entry on the speeder bike is super cool and real. It's too good to be true for TLC to produce such wonderful Star Wars Impulse set. After careful thoughts, my vote goes to Graynar because i am much of an Indiana Jones fan. If i have extra vote, will defintely vote for SuperemeCommanderGrievous :-$

As for all other entries, this contest is really the best for my first attempt in LEGO. 80 entries to choose from is indeed very tough. Trust me, it's not easy for me to cast these votes. Hehe :-D

DJForce, thanks for casting your vote in the History category. It's really very nice of you.

To others, whom have cast a vote for me. Big thanks and love from me to show your support! X-D

Outstanding work, everyone, let's keep the spirt up! :-P

Er...you're welcome. But, I didn't do megablocks for this one. :-$

Here be the things I voted for. I voted them mainly because I would love to have some of those pieces in a cheap set, but meh.

City/Space: SirNadroj - Ice Planet, woo!

History/Adventure/Pirates: Hinckley - Arr, gotta love that dead pirate and his gold.

Licenced: Batbrick - I love the design of the Grandfather clock. But in an Impulse set, I wouldn't expect it to open to reveal the Batcave :-P

Good luck everyone!

Wow, it's likethe whole forum entered this one! *sweet*

Took me several minutes to decide, but here is what i voted and why:

For city and space it's Copmike, this gets me a Han solo torso, 4 brown cannon wheels, it's craptastically build and it's pink *wub*

For history it's mr. Tiber, just because he's me matey it gets me a sextant a compass and a dracula torso, wich i could really use right now.... *y*

For Licensed it's Lego freak, what can i say? I'm a sucker for spongebob *wub*

Good luck to all of you!

So many great entries. It was a hard decision, especially with regard to the City/Space category.

I love the Ice Planet babe taking a bath *wub* but had to go with the hobo. I was so torn on that one, but in the end, the hobo just looked more like an official Lego product.

In History I voted for Tanotrooper and in Licensed for Lego-Freak his Spongebob. Why? Because these are the only real Impulse sets. They could be released. They look compact.

Please don't accuse me of being dishonest. This contest took a lot of my (and others) free time to organise and I don't think I deserve it.

I do appreciate the time you put in, and I'm not accusing you of being dishonest. Slightly hypocritical if anything. Sometimes there's a lot of petty comments made about small errors and discrepancies around here by people who make small errors themselves.

The thing that really gets my goat is stuff like this

Well I did say;

Try to build something similar to the real impulse sets; that is don't include parts like a baseplate as it would make the set too expensive and the box too big.

That sound like a rule to me, especially since it was rule number one. -Sinner

I'm a member on 20 odd forums ranging from motorbikes, cars, DIY, powertools, electrical, hunting and of course Lego. I've never seen a Moderator edit another members post to add personal comments on any of those other forums, yet it seems to happen quite a bit here. As far as I'm concerned it's not good forum ettiquette. Forums are a wonderful source of information, and the best ones make everyone feel equal with a common interest.

I'm not too concerened about votes (unlike Imperialshadows who seems to also be a predictor of alternate endings) , these competitions are a wonderful source of ideas and inspiration, not only for the adults but also the younger members who may just be starting out.

Did you read the link you gave for the definition of "Shenanigans"? It says;

A shenanigan is a deceitful confidence trick, or mischief causing discomfort or annoyance.

Yes, I realise that it is only part of the full meaning, but how am I supposed to know what you mean? Since you provide the like it implies that you want the primary meaning to be used. As for being hypocritical, could you provide an example please. I'm hoping you won't be using my example MOC as a reference as if you read the rules, you would have noticed I gave a part count. If there was any confusion you could have asked...

The thing that really gets my goat is stuff like this
How else can I make rules clear? Some people don't come here enough to read entire competition topics, so that is the best way to give notice. What honestly perplexes me it that I am being attacked even though I allowed the entries that broke the rules in the vote. What would have happened if I didn't?

But I see moderator editing of posts a lot on other forums and blogs. I can provide a few examples if you want. This one instantly springs to mind, and I don't see it as rude at all.

Alrighty then - I voted a couple of days back. Here's how and why:

City & Space: I'm a town/train fan - mostly civilian town stuff like houses. I therefore liked a bunch of sets (including ricecracker & imperial shadows), though standouts were Alex54 (nice variation on the vintage 80's postman set with bicycle - I liked the mailbag idea), KhoRne (for the humour value mostly), and my final pick landlubber for the detailed buggy - I can truly imagine this as a real set Lego would sell *wub* .

History, Adventure & Pirates: There weren't too many that didn't take my fancy in some way. I particularly liked Hinckley (there's a treasure worth defending), TinyPiesRUs (are they firecrackers in the barrel?) and WhiteFangSG (if I were into Castle, I'd probably buy it). Winning my vote though, was SkelliesGang. Maybe it was the Orient box design - but this MOC totally looks the part. BTW - what was up with the food theme going on in this category X-O? There was just so much of it used! Even quarryman's maiden has a drumstick to snack on in her bedroom (and a monkey, if she's desperate)! Also SirNadroj - does a crab, clam, and starfish count as more than one animal - or are they "food" too :-P ? Nice beachy feast scene though!

Licensed: I really liked WhiteFangSG in this one too. Nicely padded out scene with surprisngly few parts. Also liked TanoTrooper, BatBrick & LegoLyons - all well put together and totally imaginable as real sets. Getting my vote was Lego-Freak because not only is it totally plausible as a SpongeBob set - but it's fun X-D !

This contest has sparked my interest in becoming a little more active on this forum. I wonder what the next contest will be...

Anyone who says, "it isn't the <whatever>" or "I don't care about the <something>", is concerned with it. :-P

Now, I don't recall actually predicting anything, but I did accurately note that no one prior to you had mentioned the lack of ability to vote for you. Had they done so, the error could have either been corrected (if it was early enough), or a special post would have been made alerting people to the problem and instructing them to vote in their post.

I think it's also fair to mention that since your post, no one has added their desire to vote for you, or those would have been counted as well. Seems fair, doesn't it?

However, now that I am officially a predictor, I should make good use of that ability.

*wacko* *enters a trance* I am seeing victory, yes, clear and strong victory for a hobo and a butler. Their creators, basking in the glory and enjoying the rewards of their efforts. I see a third victor, but the vision is cloudy... the future is hard to see for this one... there are several images, all vying for attention, but none has a clear advantage... each knowing that their destiny is in the hands of the voters, and could be decided at any time ... *snaps out of it* |-/

Think I might try this gimmick on EB News next time Staudie asks for a raise. ;-)

Yay I finally voted! Miner goes too:

City:

Kho Rne, I know its got a bazillion votes, but theres a reason for that, its so hilarious and inspired!

Runners up were Alex54 and iamded, they both reek of all that is City, great work guys! :'-)

History:

SupremeCommanderGrevious: This is a set i would buy, like, 5 of. Brilliantly executed too, not just relying on the dwarf, I love it!

Runners up were Klaus-Dieter and iamded. Klaus Dieter for the excellent set up, accessories and peasant, iamded for providing the coolest skellie builder ever (despite our differences, we both love our skellie armies! X-D )

Licensed: Mutley777: Its a simply put, perfect SW impulse. Perfect, nothing else need be said.

Runners up were imperialshadows who caused me to take this long, since it was so close, I love that Jawa impulse! The other runner up was Lego-Freak, I really want a Spongebob and that is a perfect way for him!

REALLY great entries all round, my congratulations to everyone who entered, they are all fantastic and I want them all.

Stalking iamded! *skull*

Congrats Sinner with this super popular contest!

My votes went to...

- Alex54 (space and city): Simple but a wonderful little set.

- Klaus-Dieter (History, Adventure and Pirates): Lots of little gadgets, nice design. I wouldn't hesitate buying this impulse set.

- Graynar (licenced): A fantastic military impulse set. I fear Lego will never produce one like this, but they should.

Thanks to everyone who voted for my entry! *sweet*

I voted for DJ Force's entry -that custom Exo-Force set was sweet.

And TinyPiesRUs's entry -becuase I love those chinese soldier dudes (I have 6 of them myself). *y*

Finally, I choose Tanotrooper's Avatar set, because I love Avatar, and his design of the blue spirits mask is simply amazing.

Good job to everyone who entered! *y*

:-$ Thanks for the high praise! I had wanted to use a rebel engineer minifig but mine are all in storage so then i choose a hoth rebel but realised the visor and back pack were extra parts. :-D So the only fig i had left was the pilot. :-)

I voted for :

ricecracker, iamded and jayber1974.

Their impulse mocs look like real impulse sets with a good ratio number of pieces / size of pieces, wich I think is really strict for the official designers of the impulse serie. And the pieces that are used are great for me. For the license serie, my second choice would have been Lego-Freak, because I'm a very big fan of sponge bob...

And thanks for all the participants of this contest!

Well the voting time is almost over and I will probably call it tomorrow. At this stage KhoRne seems to be the clear winner of City and Space, SupremeCommmanderGrievous seems to be the close winner of History, Adventure and Pirates and Batbrick seems to be the clear winner of Licensed. But there is still another day!

As for my votes...

City and Space: Hinckley for making copmike looks so beautiful! Ones that came close were KhoRne, PaulC and xwingyoda.

History, Adventure and Pirates: xwingyoda for his wonderfully un-PC lovely! Ones that came close were LegoLyons and Batbrick

Licensed: xwingyoda for his really annoying but oddly desirable set! Ones that came close were Batbrick, copmike and imperialshadows.

Thanks to everyone for the thanks! X-D However, I don't deseve full credit; the idea initially came from Piranha in the New Contest topic. After discussions with staff, I decided that it would work better if it was open theme instead of just Castle... and I think I was right. So keep the ideas coming; we do listen! *sweet*

Firstly I want to thank the ones who voted for my nice Medieval Market Stand. Thank you very much! *sweet*

Secondly I want to thank Sinner and imperialshadows who created and organised this contest. It was a great contest and I had a lot of fun designing my set. Thank you very much! *sweet*

Thirdly I want to thank all of you who participated in this contest. The most of you designed great Impulse sets - sometimes even a bit too many great ones :-D becuase the decision was very hard. *y*

I voted for:

City and Space:

alex 54 because I really would like TLG releasing a post officer with a mail box and a bicycle. I'd immediately buy this set because it's *wub* .

But I must say that it was a very hard decision because - mainly in the City theme - there were so many brilliant desgins. My second vote would have been KhoRne, RupeeClock and ricecracker, my third vote Landlubber, Lt. Col. Thok and xenologer.

History, Adventure and Pirates:

... no, I won't tell you - it's a shame :-D

My second vote would have been Quarryman and Piranha, my third vote Stealth Hunter, SupremeCommanderGrievous, Tiny Pies RUs and whitefang_sg.

Licensed:

Batbrick becuase it is so *wub* designed with the grandfather clock and everything. I'd immediately buy it (although I don't collect Batman sests).

My second vote would have been - since I'm a real SW fan - imperialshadows, mutley 777 and SupremeCommanderGrievous, my third vote ricecracker, Stealth Hunter, Sir Nadroj, Graynar and Lego Lyons.

Thank you very much! *sweet*

And I voted for...

City and Space: xwingyoda, because his idea is just hilarious! :-D I would buy that set immediately, especially for the handcuffs which aren't available in smaller sets.

Pirates, Castle and History: SirNadroj, because I like the minifig and those nice details. *y*

Licensed: Batbrick, because his entry is just perfect. And it would be a cheap way to get Alfred.... *wub*

For city and space I voted Alex54 as I thought his entry was a must have in the city impulse line, plus the fact that it was a clever use of the satchel from indy!

For History adventure and pirates i voted for Xwingyoda as his entry was original and very funny! ;-)

For licenced I voted for Tinypiesrus because his impulse would just be great for the indy line and a must for multiple purchase!

here are my votes:

city and space: KhoRne. so hilarious!! alex54 came very close, though. simple and sweet *sweet*

history, adventure and pirates: Hinckly! again, nice and simple. ;-)
