Karto Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 And while you're there, check out his feedback. What's the problem with his feedback? I don't see anything special. Quote
Paradox Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 Probably about a thousand dollars, give or take. It's a fairly small collection in comparison to many AFOLs. Quote
Freddie Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Peeron's telling me that I own 247 sets, 206 of those unique, with a total value of $6 400 US. Herein lies 347 minifigs and 64 659 parts. Which is not enough, because I haven't indexed my PaB findings (plenty of bricks and figs). I'm guessing it's a few hundred dollars more, but not much more. Plus it's calculated with US prices; with EU prices the monetary value of all my sets would be way higher. The sentimental value on the other hand, is infinite. Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 In storage or not? Previously, I had been amassing doubles of relatively old, small sets. Upon selling them, I made a fair profit......of $600! My actual collection, with god knows how many sets, must be worth a fair amount. Quote
Tom_castlefan Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 At most, I'd say £800, but its probably just under that. I have hopes of expanding though, but unfortunately, I get paid monthly, and not lots - the perils of still being in school Quote
commanderbly42 Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 According to Peeron, I have 41 Sets (39 unique), 7,660 Parts, $945.25, 103 Minifigs.. In other words, compared to most FOLs, my collection is pretty small. Quote
blueandwhite Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 Probably around 30 to 50 thousand parts....So peobably over $15,000 I think this is the perfect example of why fans have so much difficulty evaluating the value of one's collection. Just how much is 50,000 parts worth? At 10 cents per piece that would only be $5,000. LEGO collections are very personal and when we have so many unique and out-of-production elements to our names it becomes extremely difficult to place a value on one's collection. Many of us overvaule our prized possessions, while others tend to be too conservative. At the end of the day, I think most people would have a hard time collecting the $ value of their collections if they wanted to sell them. It's really too subjective. Quote
Capt. Bluebeard Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 (edited) No idea...probably not as much most people's collections on this forum. However, hopefully, I'll be able to get hold of some more Pirate LEGO this year and increase the value. Bluebeard, out- Edited June 24, 2008 by Capt. Bluebeard Quote
DiverDan Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 (edited) I don't have a clue what mine's worth, but I'd estimate it's somewhere between $5,000 and $20,000. Edited June 24, 2008 by DiverDan Quote
fallentomato Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 I was just trying to figure this out so I could give an accurate amount for insurance purposes. The problem is that my collection is older than me, and I only know for sure what went into it in the last 20 or so years. My older siblings kept a lot of their instruction booklets, so I used those to get a rough estimate, but I also acquired the collections of two of my best friend's families. So these Peeron numbers only include the sets I absolutely know are in my collection. 275 Sets (253 unique), 59,949 Parts, $5,479.85, 621 Minifigs - There were several set without listed prices there and after estimating for them it bring the total for these 275 sets to about $6,000. However, I know I have about 800 minifigs, so assuming the ratios of pieces to price to minifigs stays constant I'd estimate about 80,000 pieces and $8,000. Quote
Derek Posted February 28, 2009 Author Posted February 28, 2009 Ive never seen a topic on here before AND I searched so I figgured it would be safe to start a topic asking this question:"How much money is your LEGO collection worth?" Mines about $1,150, give or take. Ive actually thought of insuring it.... Totals: 120 Sets (119 unique), 19,221 Parts, $1,847.5, 222 Minifigs. Only about $700 in the past year. Could have been worse I suppose... 222 Minifigs Quote
Fluyt Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 According to Peeron: 79 Sets (66 unique), 12,832 Parts, $1,573.5, 242 Minifigs (with a couple of sets without a known msrp price). But I'm pretty sure I missed quite a few sets (I was too lazy to list every set )+ I have also bought loose parts and figs. And the value/price on Peeron is based on original price, and is in usd, so it is probably 1900-2000 euro's, instead of the 1575 dollar value given by Peeron (since TLG likes to overprice things here ), and that is without the unknown prices and with quite a few sets missing. Brickaholic Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 I have approx. 500 sets and about 450 minifigs. My collection is worth at least $3000 U.S. considering I have very rare sets, including the Maersk Ship! Quote
Marko Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 I started building town two months ago this Christmas and have spent around $1100 at BL and $350 locally. I know that the value has to be much lower as they are not new anymore and I bought only new. Anyway cool topic and people who have time/wish to count all their sets value from Peeron. Quote
Norro Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 *Ahem* You have to reference across a selection of pieces. Slopes, tiles, and any non-brick pieces can make old grey much more expensive... Believe me... God Bless, Nathan Quote
Lego12 Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 My collection with all my sets and pieces totals in to about $5000. Too much LEGO, must resist........ahhh, its uselesss! Quote

paul_delahaye Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 I'm over half a million bricks now so I'm guessing were reaching the £10k mark, although priceless to replace, I can't sell bricks, only buy more :-) Quote
m'kheyl Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 (edited) According to Peeron I have a whopping 15 sets (13 uniques), 4641 pieces, 64 minifigs, all that for $530. Since I have mostly oldies bought on ebay/bricklink I think it's more like 700/800 USD. That's not much but I'm wondering if it's not too much already Edited March 1, 2009 by m'kheyl Quote

shackleton Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Not really sure what the total value is, but I have spent over $10,000 usd with the loyalty cards alone. I have trouble putting value on some of my collection, because they do not fall into "sets". The oldest item I have is the wooden ferry boat(circa 1947). I do have some odd pieces like I bought a piece of a LEGO factory facade on e-bay a while back. It looks like the top of a stud and is about 2ft X 2ft. How do you put a value on that? I am looking to insure my collection so I have started an inventory, but I am not sure where to find a company to insure me. Any suggestions? If I had to put a number on it, I would have to say atleast $50,000 usd just because of the replacement of some of my rare "pieces". Quote
Lord Admiral Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 I wouldn't value my collection anywhere over $10K USD. That's about the total MSRP of the sets I own, but since I don't have any coveted sets that I know of anyway, and I'm pretty sure most sets don't appreciate in value after being built, used, and abused, the actual number has to be less. I have several MSIB discontinued $100+ sets sitting in the closet that are waiting for me to build, but I can't consider them at MSIB prices because I intend to open them eventually and build them when I get around to it. So the real total value of my sets are probably closer to somewhere between $5K-$7K. Quote
Destroydacre Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 According to peeron (which doesn't include everything I own, but it does have most) my collection is worth $9,612.25. Quote
