Those A.I.M. scientists look NOTHING (ABSOLUTELY NOTHING) like their comic book counterparts. It really feels like the designers at the LEGO group hate the Marvel line. This is an abomination of a wave. I’m furious. Why the hell were they not included in the first place?! The AIM soldiers are not supposed to look like their comicbook counterparts. They are supposed to look like AIM soldiers from the new Avengers video game.

Marvelous Spidey Posted October 18, 2019 Posted October 18, 2019 Yeah, it is a terrible design, but it's not like LEGO is intentionally making them bad, they're just trying to capitalize on the (presumed) hype for the Avengers game.

When they first appeared, I somewhat speculated to myself that they belonged to this upcoming Cap figure and were made available beforehand through BAM.
KevinMD Posted October 18, 2019 Posted October 18, 2019 Is the breather redundant with the face print or are they representing different things? Also, looks like the fig has a pack of some sorts, would be nice to have a pic of the back.

And cheated that after nine years, instead of the iconic look, we got that throwaway, generic game design.
oodan Posted October 18, 2019 Posted October 18, 2019 Thor's torso isn't entirely accurate to Unworthy Thor, but the cloak print makes it serviceable enough I guess. Could Arãna have been mistaken for Venom? AIM soldier has the same backpack piece as Yellowjacket, which implies some kind of build being attached to his back. Don't really like the arms, they clash quite a bit with the rest of the figure. Looks like the game character I guess, but nothing like comic book AIM soldiers so I can't say I'm too happy. The photo of Captain America is too low quality to really see anything that different about the torso when compared to other versions. Again with the disappointing lack of leg printing on Captain America minifigures. Nothing about the truck set, with 2 AIM soldiers, Cap and Hawkeye, is really blowing me away, I'll probably just end up bricklinking Cap's new head and leave it at that. If I didn't know better, the general low quality of figures and builds in the marvel line recently would suggest that Lego are trying to make Marvel sets so bad that they lose the license due to poor sales, and can therefore can stop making them.

I'm talking about sets like: 76041 The Hydra Fortress Smash 76060 Doctor Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum ...and so on. Promos on the other hand, like the Target minifigure cubes, Bricktober & various polybags are a no-show.
Legocity2713 Posted October 18, 2019 Posted October 18, 2019 Its weird that while some of the Avengers are based on the game, others (Hawkeye and presumably Black Panther) are based on the cartoon, and the Spider-Man wave is 1/3 based on the Spider-verse movie (Noir), 1/3 based on the cartoon (Anya Corazon), and 1/3 on the comics (Spider-Man’s suit). That AIM soldier looks like an Ultra Agents character. Anya doesn’t really have the white torso in the show, its black with a white spider, but in concept art it was white.
GoldenNinja3000 Posted October 18, 2019 Posted October 18, 2019 I can’t say I’m a big fan of the AIM soldier design from the comics so I actually like this figure. A comic one would’ve been cool but I don’t think this looks bad for a generic goon. Cap needed those dual molded legs but he looks great aside from that. I like Thor a lot and the hair is finally tan instead of yellow which looks so much better, but I also feel like he needed just a little something going on with the legs. I love Anya, though! That’s a great surprise figure and I always love getting new Spider heroes.
HyperOnion Posted October 18, 2019 Posted October 18, 2019 Modern video game character design tends towards overly busy, overly bulky, and militaristic, and it looks so, so bad to me. Certainly true of the Avengers game, but I guess the upside of simplifying those designs down to Lego house style is that the Minifigures come out looking pretty okay. Don't particularly need new variants of these characters, but I guess a good way to get a version of all the main Avengers on shelves since Endgame had them all in the QR suit. The one exception being the AIM soldier which looks bad. Good interpretation of the videogame design, but it's just the worst kind of videogame character design... Don't recognize that version of Anya Corozan's suit, but just happy to get any version of her.

I think you’re on to something. And also, maybe they hire designers from no-taste-at-all-country. And those guys making that avengers game should be ashamed of themselves as well. So let down by those AIM soldiers >:-(
BigGuy4U Posted October 18, 2019 Posted October 18, 2019 Thor looks nice, though I hope someday we'll get him with a helmet/hair combo. I can't be the only one who thinks Cap's helmet looks weird on a flesh head, right?
NXS7 Posted October 18, 2019 Posted October 18, 2019 Black Panther's up. He's got an interesting looking torso, but I need another image to tell how I feel about it. I'm also not sure what exactly it's based on, it doesn't look like anything I recognize
THELEGOBATMAN Posted October 18, 2019 Posted October 18, 2019 Black Panther looks nice, very simplistic design. 2 hours ago, ood0 said: Thor's torso isn't entirely accurate to Unworthy Thor, but the cloak print makes it serviceable enough I guess. Thor isn't supposed to look like Unworthy Thor, it's Thor from the new Avengers video game. The minifigures are not low quality, they are the same quality as always (no leg pritning). We get amazing Iron Man, good Thor (arms are weird tho), really good Cap (did anyone expect leg printing like for real?), nice and simplistic Black Panther, great Hawkeye, and weird AIM Soldiers (it's not entirely Lego's fault, they may look weird because of the design they are based on).

lego_guyon02 Posted October 18, 2019 Posted October 18, 2019 Cap - great looking figure but a little underdetailed at the legs as always, would highly benefit from legprinting or dualmolded legs Thor - looks cool but I feel like his arms need more flesh coloring Aim soldier - looks pretty cool, infinetely better than that incredibly stupid comic design Spider-Girl - looks great, but wasn't her suit black with a white spider? Black Panther - one of the worst figures I've seen this year, yuck! 52 minutes ago, Borex said: And those guys making that avengers game should be ashamed of themselves as well. benderisgreat Posted October 18, 2019 Posted October 18, 2019 Black Panther look very simple and I don’t like this. Very lame minifig tbh.

The suits they have now are just random. The comic ones are iconic and really well designed. Of course you may like the game versions better, my opinion on them is that they suck. Black Panther is imho rather cool :-s sorry
hvader Posted October 18, 2019 Posted October 18, 2019 Love Black Panther’s necklace. So funny and adorable

Same quality as always is low quality. There are details missing that make several of the figures look incomplete, therefore several of the figures are low quality. I like Black Panther, because that design doesn't need that much additional detail, but Thor's arms are completely off, he's missing his boots as well as the detail on his legs. He's low quality.
Fenghuang0296 Posted October 18, 2019 Posted October 18, 2019 I can’t believe they’re doing Anya. I only know her from the recent cartoon, has she been in the comics? AIM Soldier, Cap and Panther look . . not great, but pretty much what I expected. Which I do not mean in a good way, FYI. Thor is particularly disappointing - but the new colour for that hair part is exciting, I have a custom that needs that hair.
