I wouldn't give up my hopes already now. We talked about that a whole Farm subtheme is supposably unlikely, but a big farm set on its own not. And firstly set number 60238 is still missing. And secondly I can't imagine this list being the complete one since in the past years there always have been two subthemes plus some extra sets in summer. SInce the Space subthemes will be very huge, I bet for a small subtheme with 4-5 sets in summer.

60238 is not missing.  It has already been released.  It is the replacement for the old 7895, switch tracks for trains.   It and 60205 (straight, curve, and flex) track pack were released coinciding with the new Passenger 60197 and Cargo 60198 train releases in 2H 2018.

really wish that they could do a special retailer consumer set with the 747 caring the space shuttle . that would be iconic set !

Also a concorde set would be amazing .

We are all assuming that the 'rocket transport' is a big plane with a rocket on top. If that's the case just switch the shuttle for the rocket.

One thing came to my mind: We have to consider that the list contains minimum one Juniors set in the Space subtheme and one or two in the rest of the list (possibly the fire truck and the garage). So the list of "real" City sets would get a bit smaller. It's a shame that TLG decided to give the City themed Juniors sets set numbers in the row of the regular City sets - so we don't know whether a City set will be a Junior one or not til we get pics.

Ah, thanks. I overlooked that.

So the people pack sounds like it will be Fun at the Fairground this year. Not sure what new accessories this could entail? Part of the enthusiasm over the original Fun at the Park set was the new baby and wheelchair figure. It is a shame that this year's set is not a Fun at the Zoo set, as this would provide an excellent opportunity for Lego to release some new larger animal figures that we don't have yet but would be too big to include in the Collectible Minifigures line. In fact I would like Fun at the Zoo to be an annual set with several new animals. A giraffe would be a great start, seeing as we will have a giraffe costume figure. Also the re-release of animal moulds no longer available such as the camel and ostrich from the Prince of Persia sets.

Kind of holding out hope that the F@tFairground will have a petting zoo component, allowing for a new animal mold, or at least the return of the sorely-needed goat mold.

Hopefully the new year will bring some new animal moulds even if the set rumors so far do not indicate it

I expect the F@tFairground will have at least one animal since the previous sets have it. A seagull or a "old" dog is the worst outcome, a good outcome would be the inclusion of a new pigeon mould and the best scenario would be if it is a animal fairground with several new moulds

@Mods can we give this guy a title? “Animal Expert” or something like that, he’s clearly EB’s resident Animal Expert!

For Fun at the Fairground, I would expect the ubiquitous hot dog bun and sausage to make its appearance in addition to cotton candy.  I would expect the builds to be some of the carnival games such as the mallet and bell, a throwing booth, maybe a ring toss, and the like.  In fact, anyone familiar with the Lego Chase McCain undercover video game would find some stuff like that in the Apollo Island section of the video game.

LEGO loves space shuttles which is interesting. Clearly they wouldn't be making a bunch of them across now four themes (I'm including Overwatch) if they weren't selling. Yet the target range has never seen one fly, it will be 8.5 years since the last shuttle mission when these sets come out.

Well, it looks like they soon will...

Daily Mail - The shuttle flies again! NASA gives go-ahead for 'Dream Chaser' mini spaceplane

Quote

A radical new mini space shuttle has been given the go-ahead by NASA.

Called the Dream Chaser, its maker Sierra Nevada Corp hopes it could begin to deliver cargo to the International Space Station beginning in 'late 2020'. Now, NASA has given the go-ahead for full production of the craft to begin following a series of tests. The Dream Chaser will perform at least six missions to provide cargo resupply, disposal and return services to the International Space Station under NASA's CRS-2 contract. It will blast into orbit on top of a United Launch Alliance's Atlas 5 rocket from Cape Canaveral, Florida, and will land at Kennedy Space Center on a standard runway.

The Dream Chaser will perform at least six missions to provide cargo resupply, disposal and return services to the International Space Station under NASA's CRS-2 contract.

Cool stuff, although pretty different from the actual shuttle, the CRS version will probably be the entirely unmanned (and non man-rated) version, and can "only" ferry 5.5 tons to the ISS.

It will also feature foldable wings so it can launch inside a 5m fairing on top of several launchers, we wont see this thing launch anything like a shuttle, itll be just another big rocket

Well, in spite of it being possibly unmanned, it does admittedly resemble 2015's 60078 Utility Shuttle with its dual tailfins and somewhat folded wings:

Agreed, first thing i thought as well (and i expect the small shuttle in the new space line to be pretty similar)

Well spotted on the 60078 :) when I looked at the picture of that Space Shuttle I too thought it kind a look familiar to me, and that I have seen it some where.... In 2015 Lego catalogue :) :)

This is exactly why I think that the 2HY list is incomplete. The pattern for several years now is more than one theme in the summer and some one-off additional sets (eg Service Station, Cargo terminal, Hospital) and people packs. I would not be surprised if the Fire Station with boat dock, kayak adventure and diving boat just released are designed to complement a Harbour/marina in the Summer wave.

At the risk of going off-topic a little bit, I'll mention here that the 2015 Utility Shuttle most closely (as far as I know) resembles the European "Hermes" concept from the mid 1980s.  I believe the Hermes program got pretty far in the design process before it was cancelled.  It would be really great if this year's Space wave had a kit modeled after Dream Chaser, but I'm not counting on it.

Link below is to a picture of Hermes that shows off the similarities to kit 60078 pretty well.

I am really liking the new Sky Police sets and some of those new parts (like the visor and oxygen mask). The helicopter in the armored car set is neat as well, looks very sci-fi (reminds me of the Orca from the Command & Conquer games or some of those helicopters from Avatar).

Yeah, NASA already has a top secret space crash that's a tiny car sized Shuttle, but no one knows what's it's doing.

But an actual shuttle with 7 people on it, none of the children of today have watched live. However yay for Youtube.

Could it be that the second summer City subtheme is Fairground?

On the one hand the existance of a people pack of this theme doesn't mean anything. Plus there's already a Creator Expert theme about fair.

On the other hand I don't know whether a fairground people pack would be bought by many JFOLS - whose majority for sure doesn't own any Creator Expert sets and for whom in a people pack included only very small stands and no fairground rides (remember that the people packs are "only" fourty Euros) would be boring. Plus a Fairground subtheme inside City would imo not compete against the Creator Expert subtheme: Whether the Creator Expert theme offers only huge (and expensive) fairground rides with only minimalistic side structures, a City subtheme could offer decent sized stands (such as the Pizza Van) and smaller (and less expensive) fairground rides - in principle it would be the perfect addition. What do you think?

Which concerns a new animal mould: I could well imagine that TLG takes the white pigeon (new mould this year) from the Disney theme and prints it for the people pack in grey.

The usual place leaked a picture of a popcorn cart which shall be a polybag for this year. (But from only this one picture I can't decide whether I like it or not.) So maybe there won't be a popcorn cart included in the people pack. But I agree with the other contents you mentioned.

Well as far as I could tell (from the pictures I have seen so far) it is not a pigeon, but sparrow or similar type of bird, so that would probably not work. That said this is the first time a animal mould made for a mini-dolls set is usable in a minifig set, so that is good news  The original friends birds mould looks like it is made by a 5 year old :hmpf: Why do they waste moulds on animals looking that unrealistic, I believe fans of minidoll sets would prefer more realistic animals or be neutral to the matter, so hopefully Lego make them realistic in the future so the rest of us could use them as well

I really wonder what the F@tFairground will include, as you say it will not have any rides

Guess it depends what way they go. More circus-y or more local fair. They could have archetypes like strongman, ventriloquist and hey even a bearded lady to cash in on the Greatest Showman.

Build wise I’d imagine some small stalls like a shooting gallery, candy floss stand, and maybe one of those ‘test your strength’ things to ring the bell.

I have also seen the leaked image of the Popcorn cart. Is it confirmed that this will definitely be released as a polybag though? It looks exactly the same as the cart that is featured on the artwork for Lego's new "StayPlayful" campaign.

First City 2019 magazine is out (Netherlands), focusing on the Sky Police theme, which has a small jet and police minifig with big sunglasses.

Best part is that the minifig police officer you get is named Tom Maverick. (Top Gun reference, actor name Tom Cruise, pilot nickname Maverick) with big sunglasses.

Next month has a standard firefighter with a burning barrel (octan color scheme). Similar to the barrels in 2019 Dock Side Fire set.

Bought the new police car yesterday. Its a great little set, very sporty looking which I like.

Will be acquiring more of the new Sky Police sets (especially the Diamond Heist and the new police station) when they become available locally (right now the cop car is the only one available in my area)
