I guess I can grudgingly accept that, rather than what I think looks cooler. Still, that sand blue with orange visor color scheme isn't very close to the real training suit, which is dark blue with a non-colored visor. I like it a lot though, and I wish it came in more sets. As far as I can tell the suit in that set is Light Royal Blue (BrickLink's Bright Light Blue/the color of a lot of recent City police uniforms) rather than Sand Blue. That's a very light color, so you're probably right about it being lighter than these examples, but from what I've seen the Apollo and MOL suits were still closer to Sand Blue or Medium Blue than to any sort of dark blue. That may be on me for not linking to better photos. By the way, I hope I don't sound like a know-it-all — a lot of this is stuff I only just learned while trying to satisfy my own curiosity about what LEGO might've based some of this stuff on! Usually my interests are in fantasy so I'm not much of an expert on real-life technology whether it's modern or historical. As an example, I just found this site that explains the differences between what orange and white spacesuits are used for: https://www.scoopwhoop.com/reason-for-astronauts-white-and-orange-suits/ Apparently orange is for launch and re-entry while white is for spacewalks. Both are partly aimed at maintaining high visibility, though white is also meant to reflect more sunlight. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 (edited) Thank you all very much for the pics! Here my thoughts on the Space subtheme: Satellite Maintenance Polybag Con: none Pro: + perfect price ratio performance + nice minifigure + looking very realistic + satellite has the perfect size and is very detailed, too Lunar Station Con: - shuttle is too small and that it docks with its end to the station is completely unrealistic (it would have been better to instead include the things below) - no air lock towards the outside - no orange crane (like shown in the prelim) - more solar panels would have been desirable Pro: + good price ratio performance + some solar panels + good minifigure selection + three rooms + looking very realistic (apart from the shuttle) + much and very detailed interior inside the rooms I'm not interersted in the other Space sets - they look too futuristic too me, the rollercoaster rails in the space port are absurd and the lab in the exclusive set is nice, but much too open without any sidewalls. Klaus-Dieter Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 (edited) Now my thoughts on the downtown sets: Fire Chief's Truck Con: - no car doors - would have prefered a closed style truck instead of an open style truck - everything is again about fire - Why couldn't there be tools for rescuing or for a car accident etc.?! Pro: + truck is very well built (apart from the missing car doors) + great new torso and hair piece for the fire chief + energy box is a great addition + much accessory Fairground People Pack Con: - ducks' stand and shooting gallery are too rudimentary and much, much too small (it would have been better to only have one of them, but built it in some sort of real stall) - boy's torso with one white and one flame yellow arm looks weird (both arms should have the same color) - no baby included - clown missing "shoes" under his tall legs (at the best like the juggler in the Fairground Mixxer) Pro: + good price ratio performance + much accessory + "Hau den Lukas" looks good + blue dog balloon is great + rubber duck looks so cute (I hope it will appear as a regular duck in future (City) sets, too!) + ice cream bicycle is perfect + many great new torsos, head printings and hair pieces The Opening Of The Donut Shop Con: - both houses are only one floor big - walls inside the toy shop are so empty, esp. the one on the other side of the cashpoint - no new torso for the camera man (I would have liked a white torso with a big blue printing "TV6+" on its back) - no crane hook on the crane boom - TV van without car doors - sign saying "city coffee" on the donut shop (it should say "donut shop" instead) - police motorcycle, police officer and crook are unnecassary Pro: + perfect price ratio performance + many minifigures included + some interior for the toy shop + nice taxi + crane truck looks good + great exterior design of the toy shop and the donut shop: again I really like the combination of a building in old architectual style (in this case very well combined with modern elements) and one in modern architectual style + perfect coffee bike + very detailed interior for the donut shop + great that we finally get a small, but great looking TV broadcast van In the 4+ Garage I'm not interested - it's simply a Juniors set and therefore doesn't go with regular City sets. Btw: Do you think there might be a second exclusive City set? Of course much smaller than 60229, more in the price range of 60-80 Euros. I could imagine a train station (to go with last year's trains), something fairground or circus related (to go with the people pack) or a supermarket (in order to use the new shopping cart mould from the Friends 4+ HLC Supermarket in another set). CF Mitch Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 Hello, all. Visitor from the Licensed and SW themes here I'm currently writing a Superman fanfiction wherein space travel and such is a slightly recurring theme, so that has fired my interest in the topic in general. Seeing these sets fuel that interest even more and make me want to build my own NASA-like facility and all these amazing sets will definitely help me do that. I particularly like the recently leaked/revealed Rocket Transport, which reminds me a lot of Thunderbirds (as well do some other sets, incidentally) So I think I might actually buy the most of this theme and save them for when I have enough room. Regards, Mitch Quote

If so, minifigures in an Xtra set opens a lotta new possibilities for that supplementary theme... Quote

At the same time, if Lego DOESN'T branch out beyond modern day subject matter in the Xtra theme, it begs the question of why it's even branded separately from City. Previous accessory packs at least could ostensibly be used with Friends as easily as with City, which will no longer be the case if it starts focusing on minifigures. That said... it's a nice pack either way! Love the coral and teal parrot, and the updated Paradisa torso! Quote

tafkatb Posted May 11, 2019 Posted May 11, 2019 Ooh, I might want to get that. I've been itching to try my hand at some neo-Paradisa MOCs. Quote

Yes it is the same, saw pictures of both on instagram Interesting that they market the parrot as exclusive! I would not mind similar sets with other exclusive animals in them in the future Quote
TeriXeri Posted May 13, 2019 Posted May 13, 2019 (edited) So, there also appears to be a 4 minifig pack for the City Space theme. Green Geode looks to be the exclusive piece here, overall, nice figures, build and tools as well. Edited May 13, 2019 by TeriXeri Quote

Speaking of minifigure packs, did you also see the "Clutch Powers" figure in the Ninjago pack? Very much up my kinda alley... Quote

I think that, like the blue fig in the people pack, that one has the Classic Space logo on it. Pretty sure it's an exclusive figure, too. Very interesting . . definitely not a substitute for a real Classic Spaceman, though . . And yep, saw Clutch Powers! Here's hoping we finally find out what happened to him after his movie ended. It always bothered me that they never finished his story after obviously setting up for a continuation. Quote

Vorkosigan Posted May 19, 2019 Posted May 19, 2019 The summer City sets are up on S@H: https://shop.lego.com/en-US/category/city?page=1&filters.i0.key=variants.attributes.availabilityStatus.zxx-US&filters.i0.values.i0="B_COMING_SOON_AT_DATE"%2C"D_COMING_SOON" I am surprised to see that the space sets are released June 23rd and the others August 1st. I was hoping for June 1st for space. Also the Rocket Assembly is $150 USD, I was hoping for a little less but still a buy. The rest of the space sets all look well priced. Quote
