zoth33 Posted March 11, 2019 Posted March 11, 2019 I think the fire snake mummies look great. I'll take new molds like that anytime. I can easily work them into my mummy faction. Wu looks great too. This will a great wave for me I love fire vs Ice themes. Can't wait to see the ice zombies. NInjago has really been a goldmine for new molds. I build fantasy castles and LOTR type stuff so this theme has really been great for my builds and custom figs. Quote
Fenghuang0296 Posted March 11, 2019 Posted March 11, 2019 Hey' something occurs to me; are we sure they're actually snakes? And not just human mummies that are wearing snake 'masks'? Because those heads are awfully big and do look like metal or stone . . and they're unprinted, too. Quote

That would be interesting, but looking at the pictures that's showing the back of them, it doesn't look like they are covering any minifig heads. The snake head just looks like a head. And I'm not sure about this by a long shot but the "skin" (of the darker colored "snake") that the mummy garb didn't manage to cover looked to be snake scales. Of course this is just my speculation. And now that I think more about it, both villians factions of S11 are actually undead. Edited March 11, 2019 by JJ Tong (zfogshooterz) Quote

Being the kinda theme it is, I do wonder how many of its playset builds were developed for Ninjago, and how many were modified from recycled tablescrap builds initially designed for other more coherent playthemes (be they existing or never realized). I always remember this one 2008 BrickJournal interview with @Nabii talking about the evolution of a motorcycle build he originally built in mind for Mars Mission, which he then modified for potential adoption by Exo-Force, and then finally finding a home for it within the Agents theme for 8632 Swamp Raid. 13 hours ago, Thedarkmaster2 said: Yeah it's what makes it good and timeless! Those people wouldn't be as grudgeful towards Ninjago if it weren't one of the only Action/Adventure theme in town currently (next to the upcoming Hidden Side line, that is). Some people just want something archetypical like Classic Castle, Pirates, Space, Adventurers, Agents, Aquazone, and the such, and it's hard to find much of that in a theme like Ninjago if you're not counting the bricks. Oh well I can understand.. But that's not because of Ninjago. It's because Lego overuses licensed themes. Do we really need that many? Also isn't Lego Movie 2 an original action theme? Quote

Do we really need that many? That could very well be, and I wouldn't mind the sheer number of them if the smaller ones were instead consolidated under broader umbrella themes respective to their IP holders (e.g. all Disney properties under a Disney banner, Overwatch under a Blizzard Entertainment umbrella theme, etc). But, what if Ninjago hadn't been successful as it has been, running only the three-year course as other lines like it do? Would we still be in this same boat? Could it maybe be that TLG actually considers Ninjago as the "umbrella action/adventure theme" that others here have deemed it, thereby eliminating the need for multiple smaller action/adventure themes? If so, what if this gaping hole left by the lack of such themes had enabled Lego to fill it with the current avalanche of licensed properties? 55 minutes ago, Thedarkmaster2 said: Also isn't Lego Movie 2 an original action theme? I personally consider it to be both original AND licensed (a hybrid of such, if you will). Quote

"Kitchen sink fantasy" It's more like a cocktail of successful new and old genres and concepts. Sometimes it works well, sometimes it's weird, but ultimately it's more than the sum of its ingredients. The golden snake mummy pharaoh sorceress looks great. Never considered egyptian design elements for Ninjago, but actually it seems like a really good idea. Quote

I just hope the new season has the same level of quality without the Hageman brothers behind it... Or at least that they keep in touch with it, so that it doesn't become stupid, like GoT did without G.R.R. Martin Quote
