Smartiac Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 Wow! So many cool crazy cars in this contest. I am new here but I love building hot rods and couldn't pass up this opportunity to enter this contest. My entry is here. My friend Lino and I have started an online Lego car club over at Flickr.com. We're called LUGNuts and we're passionate about Lego cars, trucks and motorcycles. I think a few of you are already in the group and if anyone else here wants an invite to the group, shoot me an email at proudlove@gmail.com . Thanks for hosting this contest. Quote

LUGNuts is how I found out about the contest, because frankly, I don't read Eurobricks that often (there are only so many forums one can be active in). I'm surprised my account still works after three years! I have built many cars, but I have never built a hot rod before. An interesting challenge. Now watching all those episodes of 'American Hotrod' will hopefully pay off. I've gone for a traditional look: based on a '32 5-window coupe. I have already submitted it for the contest, but here it is on flickr. Comments are, of course, welcome. Cheers, Ralph Edited April 4, 2008 by Ralph_S Quote

SlyOwl Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 (edited) *sing* Off topic, but c'mon Liverpool! *wub* And on topic... Allright fellow hotrodders, it's time for a summary on the entries! So you're not giving opinions; are these to be the captions for the voting? Edited April 8, 2008 by SlyOwl Quote
Lego Monster Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 Right, now I think I have posted my hot rod pics to the right place, I have added my entry to the entries thread. Sorry for being such a dunce, I'll get the hang of this new fangled computer technology eventually by gimenny! Anywhere, here's a pic, feel free to go look at some more on the entries thread. Burn rubber dudes! Quote
simonwillems Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Since the competition is still open for entries and since this upcoming weekend I finally have the time to pull out my bricks again, I will try to make a decent entry. Most Hotrods are made from original cars that are modified and souped up. I believe my MOC-collection holds just the right machine for that. Great entries so far, it will be a tough competition but I am up to the challenge *devil* Quote
SlyOwl Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 Since the competition is still open for entries and since this upcoming weekend I finally have the time to pull out my bricks again, I will try to make a decent entry. I can already smell it on BS! *tongue* Quote

Ralph_S Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 (edited) Well, eat this: More in the entry thread.... I saw your model in the entry thread and I couldn't agree more: a proper hot rods is based on an actual car and with all due respect for those of of you who've gone for something completely outrageous and crazy, I prefer a slightly more conservative approach. I suppose "Biff's '32 coupe" shows that, as does the "Plymouth Rock" Lego monster and I built together. That's what I really like about your car: it's clearly some sort of modded "Yank tank". The oversized engine is just what it needed. I also like the driver and his many girlfriends. Blue and yellow flames on a red car are a bit too bold for my taste, but they're pretty cool. Nice. Cheers, Ralph Edited April 14, 2008 by Ralph_S Quote

clonecaptin101 Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 Hey guys I have my rod done but need some help with the pics How do I get them in my post instead of having to have them in a link? well thanks Mikey p. Quote
Ralph_S Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 Hey guys I have my rod done but need some help with the pics How do I get them in my post instead of having to have them in a link? well thanksMikey p. You can do it in two ways. Manually (I have no idea how to type example code without the forum interpreting it as the actual commands!) or using an easy option of the code that runs the forum. When posting a reply you'll see a series of icons at the top of your edit window. One of those is for adding the code for a photograph. If you click it a window will pop-up, asking you for the picture's url. It'll need the url for the actual photograph, so ending with .jpg or .gif Cheers, Ralph Quote

Hey Ralph that just gave me an idea, we should have 2 categories actually * classic feel * total crazyness What do you think Cap ? Like you I way prefer the classic ones but since I thought evetybody would do some like that I took the crazy approach. Still need a few parts befor unleashing my beast to the world and get my megablocks kicked in the contest Quote

Still need a few parts befor unleashing my beast to the world and get my megablocks kicked in the contest It all depends. If the judges prefer classic hot rods, it's fine with me to leave things as it is. If they don't, we'd better split it ;) Seriously, the contest is fine the way it is. It's actually quite funny to see how many different interpretations people have of a hot rod. Cheers, Ralph Quote

It was just a suggestion I prefer classic looking but went (how to say that...) totally overboard And its a really modern interpretation of hot rod but not to miseuse that term I called it something different... LuxorV Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 With this kind of introduction, I can't wait to see your creation, ! Btw, I'd agree to the two categories idea, but we usually keep polls as simple as possible, don't we? LuxorV Quote
