Athos Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 Is this the end of magnets? Check out the bricklink report. And the fbtb thread, that alerted me to the matter. And bruce seems to confirm it in my classic-castle thread. Steve Quote
Dadster Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 Y'know - it kinda makes sense with the warnings of possible fatalities due to swallowing magnets and them sticking together within ones inards... I also saw the magnetized Minifigs under heavy markdown. Wondered why, but I'm not "into them", so it was just passing interest. Quote
AgentRick Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 What about my precious power functions trains next year?!? :'-( :'-( Quote
Lasse D Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 The magnets in the trains... and the big star destroyer are not strong enough to be banned IIRC. No worries about those. If only there were laws to forbid all the other non-LEGO LEGO items like the salt and pepper shakers >:-) Quote
phoinix Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 If only there were laws to forbid all the other non-LEGO LEGO items like the salt and pepper shakers >:-) i love the silly salt n pepper!!! and i have some magnets.. its an easy way to get minifigs without getting the whole set! Quote
Lasse D Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 i love the silly salt n pepper!!!and i have some magnets.. its an easy way to get minifigs without getting the whole set! Those shakers, magnets, ice cube trays and similar items is a potential threat! Someone might give me one of these things as a present instead of real sets LEGO "is for children" :-( ... Then I'll have to convince them that I'm a child. Quote
Siegfried Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 I hope not. The smarter thing for Lego to do would just be to change the age rating. The M$g^ Bl!ks proucts are only a problem as they are aiming for 6 year olds... and in some cases even 3. *wacko* And bruce seems to confirm it in my classic-castle thread. You think so? I think he is saying the opposite Quote

Pens, shirts, clocks, picture frames... :-| People have given me those as present. "You're so creative!" Yeah, I'll try to work this T-shirt in my next MOC. :-| :-P Well, it's the thought that counts...even when the gift sucks donkey megablocks. Quote

SlyOwl Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 So magnets will become even more expensive *sad* But do magnets inside motors count? 8- Strewth! You sound like you need a hug... Not from you. *sing* Quote
Shadows Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 I'll confess to liking some of the household crap they put out, but the magnets have just been a hassle. Being of the completist mindset, I have to buy all of the Star Wars releases, even though I already own the sets that the figures originally came in. I'd be just fine with them being dumped. Similarly, the 'bag charms' or whatever they are, should have just been issued as mini sets without the chain. Instead, I have something that will permanently stay in it's package. :-( Pens. Same deal. Keychains, no offense Gylman, honest X-D , but I'm sick of them too. *n* Pens, shirts, clocks, picture frames... :-| People have given me those as a present. Sounds like someone is offering up the prizes for the next big EB contest! :-D Quote
legotrainfan Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 (edited) Are the magnets only banned in America? When I go to pick a brick, the train magnet can still be bought. It seems it does not affect Europe. At least not yet. EDIT: Maybe this topic should be moved to the LEGO News & General Discussion forum. Edited March 25, 2008 by legotrainfan Quote

My wife last night bought a Lego bag to use as a camera bag and a Lego mug. For the most part she is only interested in the actual pieces in how they make me happy but all that other stuff, she really digs. Tried to get me to buy the pen and notebook and what looked like a business card holder set. And she was upset the yellow lego face t-shirt didn't come in adult size (she probably would've bought it for me). So, there are people who appreciate all that stuff. -Tohst Quote

Shoc Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 i love the silly salt n pepper!!!and i have some magnets.. its an easy way to get minifigs without getting the whole set! I agree... But I'll be fine without Lego magnets, I have a lot of these anyway. Pens, shirts, clocks, picture frames... :-| People have given me those as present. "You're so creative!" Yeah, I'll try to work this T-shirt in my next MOC. The T-shirts can't be used in MOC's, but the clocks and some of the pen parts can. :-P *skull* Quote
Siegfried Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 This topic is too old to merge, but for people reading this the answer has been given.... It seems that Athos was right! Quote
