Elephant is not just large but the largest Land animal. So could it be that 42100 will top 42082 in terms of pieces? Really excited for this.

The largest land machine was already done. I really hope it's not gonna be another set-with-biggest-piece-count-ever this year. Just 2k parts is enough for a decent flagship already.

In the survey sent to retailers, in the Lego Technic section, there is a question that goes "How is your confidence index for the new Power Function?", with a rating from 1 (very unconfident) to 5 (very confident).

That means we can expect new PF for 2019 2H or 2020. Go rejoice.

Whay would be the point to ask in 2019 about what would be introduced in 2020?

Since the retailers are asked to evaluate their confidence in the new PF system, I think there will have to be demos, sample packs, or introduction materials of some sorts to them.

Backhoe loader is an excavator? I'm quite sure Volvo does not produce backhoe loaders.

Based on this link Bugatti Chiron could have been developed under Apollo name...so it does not have to be something based on size, or shape

Also, there's a Volvo in 2018 already. We get a Volvo every 2 years, so I dont think there's a Volvo in 2019.

The production was discontinued some years ago, so I don't think they will produce a licensed model of a thing of the past...

Haaaa... Sorry for some offtopic, but these aliases make sense more and more: remember the marriage step (front + back halves join)? "Apollo" reminded me Apollo + Soyuz coupling. Similar things, isn't it?

Isn't that overthinking? To me, the most likely scenario is that they opened a dictionary, picked a word at random to assign to the project, and took the rest of the day off.

Knowing that there are two higher numbered licensed sets than a 2.5k piece car transporter (which could have been a flagship in the past in terms of parts count) makes me anticipate something really spectacular.

I think rumours of an excavator might be playing into it as well.

I think it has actually more to do with this what @AVCampos said...I do not think that it is to much brainstorming behind code names...

Well I can speak in my own name, but the fact that LEGO made license with CLAAS makes me hope for new (probably smaller)  tractor tire which I wanted years ago, and with 3 years interval used with baloon tires (Power puller in 2000, 81,6 x 38 in 2003, 94.8 X 44 in 2006 and 68.7 X 34 in 2012) makes me (at least) hope for additional tractor tires, since that type of tires could be used in various machinery (Agriculture like tractors, harvesters and trucks; forestry like harvesters, forwarders etc...)...but it could be one of a kind

@I_Igor i hope you're right about the tractor tire but i'm afraid it will remain unique. 

Would be pretty cool to have a tractor as flagship model though..

Certainly would... think Xerion was their best model for that though. But a jcb fast trak would be a great choice!

Don't think it will be anything claas terra trac related though. that would need rubber tracks and the new part in red, which in year 1 will be yellow. I'm betting on contraction, which is still awesome

But that is not likely to be, please look in history of technic line and as I can remember there was never a tractor flagship, not even a flapship
