The Middleman Posted June 18, 2005 Posted June 18, 2005 And what MOCs have you used these pieces in? What is this, an interview? Loosen up, phes, we're not at war here. Besides, I can't tell you... ;) Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 18, 2005 Author Governor Posted June 18, 2005 Loosen up? Like apply oil to my joints? Nah, I was just curious. Personally I wouldn't miss any of this pieces had they never been released... But perhaps they'll come in handy further down the track should LEGO ever divulge into mythical creatures. Quote

But perhaps they'll come in handy further down the track should LEGO ever divulge into mythical creatures. 1) i have to agree with the pirate, many of these hp-parts are quite useless to me, for instance: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=33215 or the keys, these weird figs like Hagrid, ... then there are these creatures like that snake, the spider,... 2) sure, there are many plates and bricks as well, but you find those in every theme... i feel that these parts aren't really created to build a model but to support the storytelling of the model in question. 3) these special hp-parts are simply not compatible with the space or sw theme, making them useless for me... The Middleman Posted June 18, 2005 Posted June 18, 2005 I guess it's pretty hopeless trying to prove the use of a castle theme to a Pirates fan and a Space fan. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 18, 2005 Author Governor Posted June 18, 2005 I'm just not sure about the purple bus... Those wheels wouldn't look right in medieval times... Quote
The Middleman Posted June 18, 2005 Posted June 18, 2005 I'm just not sure about the purple bus... Those wheels wouldn't look right in medieval times... I wasn't exactly talking about the Knight Bus. In any case, proving the use of a Town theme is just as bad, if not worse, than trying to prove the use of Castle to you guys. Would it KILL you to say something positive about present-day LEGO for once, Phes? Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 18, 2005 Author Governor Posted June 18, 2005 I have said plenty of positive things... Just go look round. They're there somewhere! Quote
The Middleman Posted June 18, 2005 Posted June 18, 2005 I have said plenty of positive things... Just go look round. They're there somewhere! I'm rather busy with some blueprints at the moment, mind digging some of those up for me? Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 18, 2005 Author Governor Posted June 18, 2005 Blueprints? Heh? Sheeeeeesh... You're just being lazy and making me do the work for you! That's something I'd do... Quote

Governor Mister Phes Posted June 18, 2005 Author Governor Posted June 18, 2005 Yeah, I'm lazy alright... I don't do nuffin but post here no more... Oh and partake in drunken debauchery... Ok, so that's entirely not true... I sleep as well... RECENTLY, HOW HAS THE LEGO BRAND IMPROVED? By moving back to a more traditional SYSTEM mini-figure scaled theme with Knights Kingdom 2 and Vikings. One of the few things LEGO has done right since the mid 90's was diversify the mini-figure head design and increase the detail in the mini-figures torsos. The more designs the better I believe! But LEGO need not create an abundance of head new designs, all that is required is using existing head designs from other theme. Which I believe is done to a certain extent. E.g. The Johnny Thunder head on the new Vladek figure, but could have been done much more in the original Pirate theme. Re-releasing older sets. This was a brilliant! I could own sets that I could never afford when I was younger. Once again I could buy brand new Pirate sets off the shelves (not that any were on shelves in my area so I got them off eBay). Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 24, 2005 Author Governor Posted June 24, 2005 Who is Jake Mckee? Dear Eurobricks members I have emailed Jake Mckee and he has promised to at least read what we have written. See quote below. If you want to put together the results and send them over, I would certainly read it. (I read everything, and I do mean everything, that ends up in my inbox)As far as sharing it with others, I would do this when and where appropriate. If the feedback is helpful, then obviously it make more sense to share it internally. But if the content comes back focused mainly on why LEGO should go back in time to the 80s and how we Quote
Hobbes Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 Who is Jake Mckee? :oo You haven't heard about him?! Well, it seems you really haven't checked LUGNET in quite some time cos he's pretty "active" there ;) Jake is the Global Community Relations Specialist for the LEGO Group. He also works strongly with the AFOL (ALE) community. You can find him on LUGNET, legofan.org or read his blog at bricksonthebrain.com. There's an interview with him in the new BrickJournal (pages 16 and 17). He's a "good guy", listens, reads, answers (even if it takes some time) and his job sure isn't easy. I've never written to or had an online conversation with him but read many of his posts. And he likes trains :-D Quote
Norro Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 And he likes trains :-D Getting to the root of the matter... :-D God Bless, Nathan Quote

Well, it seems you really haven't checked LUGNET in quite some time cos he's pretty "active" there ;) Good work Hobbes! I hardly go to LUGNET to read anything, I only to look at the sets... How come Jake doesn't come here? We not good enough for him? Actually its probably a good thing he doesn't until I edit my post in the Revival Questionaire thread... Quote
Hobbes Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 Maybe he just doesn't know this board. From what I've read from him so far and from the interview I don't think he would consider this board not worthy. But it would be another source of information he has to follow... Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 24, 2005 Author Governor Posted June 24, 2005 How does he know us? Is he invited to the annual Chirstmas Party? Or does he simply read here occassionally but leave his prescence unknown? Quote
The Middleman Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 How does he know us? Is he invited to the annual Chirstmas Party? Or does he simply read here occassionally but leave his prescence unknown? Eurobricks hasn't had a great relationship with Jake so far. We're the leak people, remember? ;) Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 24, 2005 Author Governor Posted June 24, 2005 Ohhhhhhh... EuroBricks is infamously known to him! But is leaking so bad? We're doing LEGO a favour here! Free advertising and hype for their upcoming sets. Big deal if we know about them ahead of time. They really should reward those who source the information for their efforts! Quote
SuvieD Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Leaking in on sense is bad. I am almost positive that MB has spys on nearly every LEGO forum on the web. Fortunately, LEGO is fairly tight lipped and MB can't copy them right away. Anyway, I have posted the survey on LUGNET and a link in CC. I must ask you my fellow Eurobricks members to help me now. I truely need help with this if the goal of even 100 responses is to be met. Please, share the link on other LEGO forums you visit. Encourage people who enjoy LEGO you know to take the short time and answer the questions. For those of you who were sceptical or unsure please look at what this can accomplish. The questions are about opinions, not right or wrong. Jake has promised to read every answer. You will be heard. If this is valuable, which with 100 response I don't know how it couldn't be, Jake will share this with those who make decisions at LEGO and we will see results very much to our liking. All it takes is three or four commercial breaks to answer these questions. Anyone can find that much time. Seriously, do not let such an opportunity go by. Your answer may be the one that changes LEGO for the better. Even if you are entirely happy with everything LEGO is doing you can still have valuable answers. Just remember to be polite and use common sense when answering. Life is not all about LEGO, LEGO is not what makes life great, but life without LEGO would surely be less interesting. LEGO has value to all of us or we wouldn't post here. Take time and let LEGO know what they can do to be better. Long live the LEGO revival! Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 27, 2005 Author Governor Posted June 27, 2005 Ahhhhhh... SuvieD I see you've taken my suggestion in adding a direct link to the survey in your signature. Also, PirateBricks.com now has a thread linking it to the survey... Quote
SuvieD Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Yes, it was a good suggestion. And thank you! You are an honor and a scholar and a pirate! :^D Now if only the other EB members would see the value in this and post some answers. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 27, 2005 Author Governor Posted June 27, 2005 I'm quite happy to assist in such a worthy cause. I would have done it sooner but I had to make sure you'd arranged something to have these surveys shown to someone at LEGO first. But I'm wondering about the first couple of questions: Why do LEGO toys have value to you? and What makes LEGO brand construction toys worth your money? Unless I'm interperating these incorrectly, these two questions are very similiar. I could almost put identical answers in both of them and they'd be answering both questions. But instead I split the answers over the two questions. Exactly what do you mean by "have value" is that monetary value or emotional value or some other kind of value? And for anyone who wants to link the survey in their signature, here's the code: [ SIZE=7][ i][ color=red]If you haven't taken the LEGO revival survey yet please take 10-15 minutes to do so now. [ b][ URL=http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?act=ST&f=8&t=1577]Click Here Thank you! Easy as Copy & Paste! But remember to REMOVE the spaces proceeding each bracket otherwise the formatting will not occur and it will display exactly as it has above. Quote
