While out riding one day, Makny's horse spooked and veered off the road, galloping through a field of tall grass.  Makny was irritated, but not worried; he had ridden fast before. He tugged on the reins and chided the horse, trying fruitlessly to steer her back to the road, not watching the ground in front of him, until suddenly the horse was rising beneath him.  He lost hold of the reins. His legs flew clear of the saddle. He flailed and grasped at the air. Now he was worried.

He coughed and sputtered on the ground, struggling to regain his breath after a thick tuft of grass had knocked the wind from his lungs.  After a few moments his father was over him, still in his own saddle, with Makny's horse at his side.

"You're lucky," he said, a smile playing at the corners of his mouth. "You just missed that rock." Makny grimaced and rolled over onto his hands and knees, coming face-to-face with the stone that could have killed him had his head fallen a few inches to the left. He stumbled to his feet, limped defiantly over to grab the reins from his father's hand, and clambered back atop his unruly mare.  As they picked their way back through the field an old saying played at the back of his mind.

"A man is not beaten until he stops getting up."

Another angle:

This was a quick build, working on posing, action, and rocks. Hopefully the ground looks better than past attempts, though as always, C&C welcome.

Nice, kinetic scene. Good color scheme with the green shades and olive.

Especially liked the mushrooms, will try and pick-up some in my next order for landscaping. They do give a 'wilderness' sense to the field.

Nice job on the terrain, it really does look better than the terrain on your larger build, but that is probably due at least in part to having a much smaller footprint to fill. The greens are nicely mixed without feeling jumbled, and the foliage is enough to give an idea of good growth. A good little build!

Great job with the action shot, but some more angles could be cool too. With shots like these, you can get away with not showing the whole build and getting in really tight for a forced perspective.

Nice pose!  I ask myself why the horse reared up instead of leaping, if it was running at full speed? But other than that, nice vignette for sure!

What a funny scene!  I need to do some more landscape like this.  I feel my landscaping skills are lacking, and need some practice.  It's a little hard for me to get a true sense of what's going on with the horse.  I think rockwork is really hard when put in grass.  I love the color choices, but it seems slightly busy and difficult to get a sense of the landscape.  I can't really put my finger on it, as I am still trying to figure things out myself, but overall I like it.  I love the kinetic throwing of the rider from the horse.  :-)

Your terrain is improving for sure, and the action comes across very clearly

Keep bricking on!

Neat rock design using the large wedge slopes  The display base is cleverly built, and a nice change from regular studs up slope edges.

Good mix of plants and colors for the landscape too. One tip I've received myself before, is that when using a horse with empty saddle, fill the gap with a 1x2 brick and 1x2 tile matching the saddle color :classic:

A nice scene at well conveys the movement. Also I really like the way you did the border. Great job!

That's genius, I would never have thought of that yet it makes so much sense... :classic:

Nice vignette there is a lot of dynamic feeling to the moc, and the color usage is eye pleasant.
