I am a relatively new Lego fan. I was looking to get insights on what are considered to be the top 10 technic sets after the set numbering changed to 4****.

 

I currently have 42043, 42064, 42066 among big sets and I just bought a 42054. 

 

Would love to hear what the fan favorites are!

For me number one is first on your list 42043, but there other sets that pleasant surprised me like 42030 and 42054 (finally tractor with ordinary tires). Of course I can not judge objective sets that I do not have

Both 42056 and 42083 are excellent sets. Expensive, but amazing looking and an amazing build experience.

I would easily recommend 42078 and 42043.

Probably the 42000 was my favourite but the 42039 is a little better. Also love the 42052 and 42053

I would recommend 42043, 42054, and 42055. All amazing sets and donors.

I think I’d put up the 42038 Arctic Truck. It’s ridiculously cool and features live suspension, all done in a medium size set. It’s probably the only set I regret not buying.

42043 is an obvious candidate for #1 though without a shadow of a doubt.

42000 was my first Technic set, and it is definately in top 10.

I don't see 42030 mentioned here.

I also would put 42043 in first place, but You have it already.

I think OP was asking for the top ten of the 42xxx age, not 42xxx sets that would be considered top ten of all Technic history.

42055 Bucket Wheel, for sheer size, and awesome parts pack

42025 Cargo Plane is fun to play.. and is swooshable! (and surprisingly big)

42065 Tracked Racer - not mechanically complex, but super fun to race around, and a great source of motors/PF bits

I have bricked 42042 and it was really playable. One of the few I’m determined to keep bricked.

I was craving for 42038 for very long, since I first saw it. I usually buy Technic sets only if they are on discount.. but this one time I made an exception and got it for near retail price... Nowadays it's 150 on eBay so, $100 is a decent price IMO. Love the color and the idea of the set. Do not like the 42069 at all.

My birthday is coming up soon and I am to decide between 42055 and 42056 since both are retiring. Don't know what to do!
