BrickMatit Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 I still can't believe it's not a dream. A fantastic dream! When the LotR and The Hobbit sets came out I wasn't into LEGO that much, just a couple of sets a year, so I missed the train - I just got the battle of Dol Guldur as a Christmas present. When I fully entered the LEGO world, with the return of Harry Potter in 2018, LotR was a distant memory and the old sets on the secondary market really expensive (not that some Harry Potter sets aren't! ). I welcomed the news of the theme's return with emotion, but also skepticism, listening to the price previews - in the future I'll also have to start dealing with the limited space ... in mid-December, with my brother, I rewatched the two trilogies - saturday after saturday - and my anticipation increased. Now I wait with quiet trepidation, the deep breath before the plunge . I will calmly evaluate the set... ...but I already know that I won't miss the train again . Quote

You know that nowadays you can stay comfortably at home and order online at the very second the set is released, right? Just saying :-) Edited February 7, 2023 by Altair1 Quote

Just saying :-) Their location says Russia, so that might not be an option as LEGO was meant to have halted deliveries there. Although LEGO also said that they had closed their stores in Russia too. 9 hours ago, Agent Kallus said: It feels like more recently they've tried to hide what GWPs are when (The UK at least used to have pretty accessable store calendars with that sort of info but now not so much). Perhaps to trick people into making extra purchases with FOMO or perhaps because they don't know the demand for some of them or how long stocks will last ( so publishing an availability window months in advance would be a bother. Not to be too cynical but I think it's probably the former. From what I understand, they stopped publishing them in calendars for two reasons: the first is that during covid times there were delays in getting products delivered to their hubs and so they couldn't guarantee GWP would be available at the right time (bearing in mind the calendars were online a couple of months in advance) and second that it looks bad and they get complaints if they are still advertising a GWP in the online calendar and it has run out of stock. They have probably learnt that they no longer need to tell people far in advance about GWPs and sets sell very well with out this knowledge. Plus of course late notice helps with incentivizing impulse buys. Quote

XD Well the one ring extracts a heavy toll, and I don't think Lego poured their cruelty, their malice and their will to dominate all life into this set but I guess we won't know for dure till we see the exact price. Though gram for gram the set better weigh more for the price! coincidently I've already booked the first of March off of work, but hopefully I'll be filming then but if that falls through I might head to my local store (so glad there one in Bristol now, Cardiff used to be my closest). But I can always buy it online if I am filming that day. but I might yet end up waiting for a good gwp (or more than 1 gwp!) or double points depending on how it all works out. Quote

Frodo left Bag End on September 23 3018, the day after his 50th birthday. The Ring was destroyed in Mount Doom on March 25 3019. 6 months. Although to be fair he spent two months in Rivendell and one month in Lothlorien Quote

General Magma Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 With the Woody legs and arms being back in use with the Avatar sets, Sauron is most likely going to have them as well. Quote
sahidko Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 Most likely. The custom Sauron i bought from Nicebricks has them as well, looking forward to compare the two. Quote

sahidko Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 Well we had to bridge the 10 years gap in the theme somehow right? :D Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 Just now, sahidko said: Well we had to bridge the 10 years gap in the theme somehow right? :D Funnily enough, my favourite themes bridged each other: Indy (2008-2009) was „replaced“ by Harry Potter (2010-2011), which was in turn succeeded by LotR/TH (2012-2014), with Star Wars retaking its place as my favourite theme (2015-2017), until it was dethroned by HP again (2018-now). And this year, all of them are back Quote
sebastian666 Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 What time do folks think the reveal will happen today? Is it possible it could be 5 mins away? 9am EST? I need something to look forward to today! 😂 Quote

I went onto twitter () and saw that the teaser was posted at 3.01pm GMT. Assuming that they keep to the same schedule and post the full reveal around 3pm GMT today that means we should see it properly in about an hour !! This might just my most anticipated set ever. ( If not this then that Deku tree or the Doctor Who ideas set ) Quote
Lordhelmet Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 It was the leaked photo, looks awesome, and more minifigs than I expected Quote
