Really looking forward seeing the minifigures! I try not to expect to much, but it is so fantastic having a new LOTR set a second year in a row

This may be the best Lego year in my life! First Rivendell, then the Dune set (my second favorite book/movie saga after LOTR) which I was not expecting at all, then the confirmation of Barad-Dur next year... it could not get any better (well, except for a Minas Tirith set in 2025) :-)

At the beginning of this video, the YouTuber said that rumour has it we are meant to get "multiple" LEGO LOTR sets in 2024. Where does that rumour come from? Only Barad-Dur is confirmed next year. Why would he say "multiple"?

With the difference that nobody would think sets are coming just because someone posted a wishlist on EB  Youtubers have higher visibility and thus need to be more careful than us when it comes to speculation. Unless they purposefully make stuff up for clicks, in which case screw’ em

Rivendell was first confirmed roughly a year ago, including the release window, right? I hope we soon get a release date for Barad-dûr then. March would be the best-case scenario!

There have been plenty of cases of people here speculating and posting wants lists without indicating that they are speculating and posting wants lists.

Exactly that. The following is the said YouTuber's wording at the beginning of the video. "So rumor has it we're meant to be getting MULTIPLE Lego Lord of the rings sets in 2024."  So I ask what rumor?

He goes right into how we could get 18 plus dioramas and that's when i stopped watching. Wishlisting but posing it as leaks or news :(

Finally - I bought the set for 408€ on amazon today.

 

In retrospective, the waiting for a good price wasn`t all that hard (and I would consider myself a big LotR Fan). It will be delivered on monday, the same day my vacation starts. Excellent. ;-)

I mean double VIP points is 10% off right there, plus there’s double VIP points this weekend, so buying from Lego is definitely the better option. (That’s obviously assuming you were going to spend your VIP points afterwards anyways)
 

Still haven’t seen it on sale in Canada, but I might bite this weekend with the double points and promos.

I saved nearly 20% today on amazon and still have my VIP-Points for purchases on lego.com.

 

Then again, I would never buy sets on lego.com when they are (oder will be) available at other locations like Smyths, amazon or regular retailers. Yeah, double VIP points are nice to have, but you dont save any cent on your sets with that, only on your next purchase at lego.com.

 

Disclaimer: this is, of course, my opinion and way to handle lego purchases. Everyone should do what they do and how they want.^^

This summer I sold all of my Harry Potter Lego that I had been collecting for years, every set, hundreds of minifigures and said I was done with Lego.  Just ordered Rivendell via Lego website to get the double VIP points and the GWP's will go straight on ebay as I do not care for them.  Hoping in all I will make about $150 back off the purchase price between VIP points and ebay sale which is a bargain and equates to 20% off.  Now I am searching for a reasonably priced new set of The Tower of Orthanc because I am hooked again and the thought of Barad-Dur sitting alongside Rivendell and Orthanc and having a collection of large scale LOTR Lego is just too tempting.  Guess an AFOL never truly 'gets out'...

Worst part is...I owned Orthanc years ago when I collected Lego from all the movies I love, Jurassic park, Batman etc.  Sold it and now the price is a wee bit higher than what I bought it for previously.

Does anyone think that Orthanc will be redone and released again in line with these other large sets???

Possible but at the rate that they are churning out sets, it will be years down the line. 

I missed out on the Orthanc set and I am just planning on bricklinking the non-exclusive/ non-rare pieces and substitute whatever for the rare items.

I’m still really hoping we get more figures than the list from the survey leak suggests. Not bad figures at all, but the amount is underwhelming after Rivendell. Especially if these large D2Cs once a year are all we’re getting

I just hope it sells well enough so we get more sets. Rivendell had the whole fellowship and was so gorgeous it was in fact "it can stand in the livingroom without even a wife disliking Lego and Lotr nagging"-material. It had extremely usefull parts for every setting... Barad Dur ist a black tower with an evil orange eye. Without too many interesting charaters... (In my case just Sauron). A Bag End with Thorins Fellowship would have been the most successfull idea in my opinion.

We have a very good set from Bag End, maybe a bigger part of Hobbiton could be included if they make it one day

I don´t have it xD I think updated versions of the dwarfs, Bilbo with dual moulded legs and a superior build would sell quite well :)

I think a new and bigger Bag End set would be phenomenal. However, I also disagree that it should be made before Barad-Dûr. Barad-Dûr is definitely a set that will mostly attract hardcore fans and not the casual collector as much, but that doesn’t mean it shouldn’t be made. Rivendell was always going to be the most attractive looking LOTR set they could make, and it was very smart to start there. But if they only ever make sets with bright colors and all good guys, then they will only ever scratch the surface of LOTR. Barad-Dûr always needed to be done as well, being the fortress of the story’s main antagonist, and more personally, as always been at the top of my most wanted list alongside Meduseld

Bag End would definitely be a good choice, though I am not sure if they would do an Hobbit Set. LOTR seems to be way more popular. I could see them doing a set based both actually - but then again it might just be to many minifigures needed for that.

I also could see them doing The golden Hall of Edoras, which would actually benefit from the Viking Village already bringing back the 4x1 tile that was in both the old Edoras and Viking set. Though most recommended likely would be Minas Tirith - which likely would be only doable as microscale - or would be just the white tower and surroundings such as the white tree.

Personally, I would be interested getting the Mines of Moria, though that doesn´t seem to be the most likely set to get.
