Not really what I meant.  I meant that it is good news that there is more publicity leading up to the new movie this year.  I doubt replaying movies in theater leads to sets (that would be extreme wishing), it just leads to more visibility leading up to a new movie (more buzz about a new movie in the theme is good news for more future sets).  My main point was that it will be nice to watch the movies in theater the same month the set comes out.

It all depends on what they have planned going forward and what they have the rights to.  I'm saying this buzz you are talking about really has nothing to do with what's already planned.  It's all about sales with lego.  We have seen that Rivendell has sold well and if Barad Dur sells well it may bode well for future sets but we won't know until further info leaks.  As far as the movies coming out it's like I said it's because there is really not a lot coming out of hollywood and the moives are only playing on consectutive days so that's only 3 days that's really not a lot of time in the theatre and each movie only is playing for one day.  If we are getting sets for War of the Rohirrim like has been hinted it would be great.  But I don't think the releasing of the LOTR movies in June is going to create that much buzz for the War of the Rohirrim in December.

Cool, I suppose I’ll just be excited to see the extended versions in theater for the first time after building Barad Dur.

Yeah I hope I can make it to all of them but they are on consecutive days so it will depend on my work schedule.  I think my kids would like it on the big screen.

I'm expecting a reveal on May 16th- May 17th. Usual timeframe of a bit under a month. I don't think it will leak since it's going to be a store exclusive but we will see

Brick Clicker just posted a video rumoring a May 14th reveal. Dunno the source, but seems plausible.

Wow, just two weeks then. Hard to believe considering we got this news so long ago with that giant batch of leaks.

I never imagined that such a large leak could escape from LEGO, but I am very glad that, not only did it happen, but that it is reliable. Up until about a year ago all LOTR sets were speculation at best! Fans of the series were so over enthusiastic with the release of Rivendell that LEGO almost had no choice but to make a follow up set!

Has anyone seen something about the possibility of Legolas and Gimli brickheadz?

You gotta wonder how long they can keep this streak going? I am hoping there is another set next year, but perhaps it will be their gap year?

That was so somehow over 15 months ago...

I’d be good with a gap year on big sets, but we definitely need lower let sets next year.

Hopefully we get a new Helms Deep or The Shire sometime.

As we already have a Helm's Deep and a Bag End, these are not a priority for me. I hope that they will make first Minas Tirith, Edoras or Lothlorien.

Edoras may be a bit much, I'd expect Meduseld itself :P

And I still don't see Minas Tirith happening in a reasonable scale, price or both.

I disagree, if they can do Rivendell and Barad Dur they can do Minas Tirith! But this has been an ongoing debate in this thread, and everyone seems to have a different opinion about this :-)

True. Just like Rivendell doesn't need to be a scale model of Rivendell, Minas Tirith doesn't need to be everything seen in the movie.

Although the shape and structure of Minas Tirith is a lot more iconic and well-known than Rivendell, so it would likely be a lot harder.

I think they could do a great nanoscale version of the whole thing or a wonderful minifig scale of the top. But trying to blend the two, whilst keeping under about $500, seems really hard and might be too many compromises. Especially as it doesn't lend itself that well to using the inside of the mountain for scenes. Maybe microscale exterior with throne room/great hall interior?

But it does seem like a great candidate and I hope they've at least given it a go.

Agreed, new locations would be preferred.  I am also good with the order :)

I won't say no to that.

Well, I won't mind if they redo Bar End in a more grander way!

Micro scale exterior with minifigure scale vignette inside.

Or a split up in several vignettes?

How about a wall-hanging skyline a la Gotham? LOL

But still have a series of minifigs?

I don't think it would be too hard. The difficult part is deciding whether to go microscale or minifig scale. My preference would be minifig scale given what has gone before. A mixture of micro and minifig scales would be the worst option. If going for minifig scale, the just need the appearance of a few levels, even if the levels are not real. Selection depends on what scenes they want. Probably a low level with a bit of wall and a gate and Grond or a fellbeast, the courtyard with the white tree and something to represent the great hall, a slightly higher build with the beacon. The levels don't need to be realistic heights. Just small offsets can help give the impression of different heights.

Brickheadz look decent.  Still not a fan of the brickheadz series but will buy these to keep the LOTR collection complete.

Yes, me as well. I bought the other three, as I can't get enough of anything LOTR LEGO lol.

I'm starting to wonder how early I need to get the the LEGO shop to grab this on the 1st.

Last time; Rivendell came out of the blue for most people, but was hugely advertised on unrelated news sites and people were starting to queue an hour early at my local LEGO shop.

This time way more people will be aware of the return of LotR LEGO and expectations will be absurdly high following on from Rivendell, plus the exclusive GWP.... I think it's going to be an early start for me on that Saturday!

Not a fan of Brickheadz but I’ve gotten all the LOTR ones and I’ll get these as well. Legolas looks pretty decent for a BH but Gimli looks a little rough. Oh well. I’m still determined to get every LOTR product they put out
