Do you guys think Lego is going to replace the bent helmets? Can't you straighten any slightly bent parts? Replacement parts will be the same material and probably more likely to get bent if posted in an envelope. Quote

Try soak it in some Warm water for a few minutes, it should help it relax back to shape I just checked mine and Sauron’s helmet and they are all good, not bent. Nonetheless I miss the little protective bags that they used for rubbery/painted parts like the dwarf beards and Saruman’s hair. My copy of the new Hadrid’s hut sadly came with a Fang with some horrible Scratches on both sides, I wish it had been in its own bag. I was shocked also the hagrid body too was also loose as that’s been bagged before. I’m all for reducing plastic waste but in these instances I think it’s justified Edited June 6, 2024 by Bugbot20082 Quote
Frizzlefry25 Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 I'm still waiting on mine! Which I am used to from ordering online, but I have never had a order say Wherehouse for 6 days. Heck I received Avengers tower in less than a week! I feel like my order is going to get jacked along with the promo, even though I have called them and they say its just backlog. Quote
RichardGoring Posted June 6, 2024 Posted June 6, 2024 (edited) Well, my Barad Dur and Fell Beast have just arrived. Phew! But I'm away this weekend and for the week afterwards, so will definitely be a while before I can consider building it. Still annoyed at the GWP being so limited. Really frustrating for everyone that couldn't order in the first 12 hours. Edited June 6, 2024 by RichardGoring Quote
petero Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 When I opened Barad-dur, I noticed something odd. The packet that contains the instruction manuals and stickers has two sealing tapes on each side: The bottom tapes were cut open, and the top tapes were intact (until I opened them). The instructions and stickers are there, and the packet was sealed in the inner box, so it wasn't tampered with after it left LEGO. Has anyone seen this before? Quote

I guess they just got the set for the figs... ? I've never seen a listing like that for a set before and I'm not sure why anyone would want just the eye without the rest of the tower. Either they're selling the entire thing in segments thinking they'll get more that way, or someone bought a second copy to increase the tower height. Did you see the base segment for sale? Quote

If it were me, I'd want the entire thing or nothing, though. Quote

Captain Pirate Man Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 WIP, just started working Barad-Dur into my Black Gate/Mordor section. I previously had Orthanc in there... But it had to go. Lots of work still to do, the big battle is going to take place outside the gate, I moved the minifigs for the time being. I also plan on putting some trans colors over the lava (like in the official set). But I don't have enough of those to REALLY do it justice... For now, lol. Quote

BrickBob Studpants Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 Just finished the set at 3am Absolutely love it, will definitely end up in the top 3 sets this year It’s a great building experience, the result looks stunning, and the minifigs are excellent! Transporting it is also a lot easier than I thought. Really like the designer’s thought process here. She did a great job in general, excited to see what else she’s gonna work on! Quote

Lordhelmet Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 Finished building the set a week ago, love it. Just realized though when we built Rivendell we knew Barad Dur was a possibility from leaks. No leaked or rumored sets in the future currently just the hope that they do an actual wave related to the movie this year or future movies. Any chances Lego says LOTR will be back without leaks? If there were sets based on The War of the Rohirrim, we would have heard about them a long time ago. I'd say it's not impossible for the theme to return with playsets, but that's more likely to coincide with the release of a new live-action film (i.e., the Hunt for Gollum). My guess would be another D2C set next year, and mayyyyyyybe playsets in 2026? Fingers crossed! Quote

Apart from the survey leak, I think Lego did a good job keeping the rumors and leaks down. All I could think is that Lego would be foolish to ignore the sales and fan reception of both Rivendell and Barad-dur. Both items went on 'backorder' shortly after going on sale online. Quote

You'd have to be blind not to see the level of fervor for LOTR LEGO at the moment. Quote
sebastian666 Posted June 9, 2024 Posted June 9, 2024 I’m bummed that I just missed out on the Fell Beast GWP by a few minutes. Has anyone found good instructions for modifying it online? I’m mainly looking for a good alternate head build. Thanks! Quote

To play devil's Sauron's advocate, they don't need to find products that will sell, they need to maximize their profit overall. A single, large set being popular is great, but when you consider licensing, design, logistics, tooling, and opportunity cost, they might decide that it's better to do something else. I really hope they don't, but they might. Quote

LOL As much as I hate it, seeing the GWP go for $120+ (and often a lot more) is making me very tempted to sell it and build a load of these. I think I prefer them to the official one anyway, as I don't really like film wings. Quote

As far as fan interest in LOTR, I just came from the theater showing the LOTR trilogy over several three-day periods. This was the second (3-day showing) of the second film in multiple theaters, and it was sold out. Glad I got my tickets weeks before. Going to finish the series tomorrow with my son. Building a couple more bags of Barad-dur with him tonight. We built the GWP first, it is better than expected. I love the massive sets for their detail and (more in the case of Rivendell) their bigger selection of minifigures. But truth be told, I long for the return of smaller playsets in this theme. Well done dioramas and battle packs (of course) would be well receive by many fans. LEGO better crank out more sets… “while the forge is hot!” Quote
