I'd love to get Rivendell but I have neither the space nor budget for it. As I imagine is the case for everyone else, I hope we get some more affordable sets soon, especially ones covering stuff that the old ones missed.

Eowen is a must-have (and would also make sense for the mythical Minas Tirith set), but we already got a pretty perfect Galadriel in one of the 2014 Hobbit sets. A remake would be great, but on general principle I prefer getting new characters and variants over updates of old ones.

Depends on whether this line is here to stay or not. If its here for the long term it seems inevitable they will revisit Galadriel for newcomers who missed out on her last time, especially with her being the lead character in Rings of Power.

Ideally my preferred line up would be:

  • Eowyn (Dernhelm) released first in a Witch-King Battle set
  • Galadriel (both White Gown and Dark Queen) in a small Mirror of Galadriel set
  • Queen Arwen and Coronation Eowyn in Minas Tirith
  • Updated Rider Arwen in a Nazgul Chase set
  • Two more Eowyn variants for Helms Deep and Edoras (ideally TTT's blue sleeved traveling outfit and ROTK's brown corset/white dress)

That should cover the essentials for all three characters.

Please don't start! We've had years of UCS Dobby's Sock in the Harry Potter threads and they're actually going to do one this year! (along with the rest of Dobby).

Maybe they are just scanning the forums for keywords with some (dumb) AI haha - this is what we get.

It has been said ever so often that many fans were not able to get the old sets/ figures in time so the argument is kind of invalid.. good for you if you have the old ones, but many don‘t and generally the old sets should not prejudice anything TLG may be doing with that theme going forward.

I really want the set, since I'm a huge lotr fan since I was a child, and missing out on the former sets in my dark ages.

But I can't sell it to my wife to get it, she said I have enough already. So I made a compromise of if something goes in, something goes out.

Since most of my lego are from loose bulks I decided to try and sell 600 euro on secondhand lego before getting the Rivendell, I don't have the time or talent to make Mocs anyway. So I need to get some advice on what colors/types of bricks sells rather fast. Not going to brick link tho, I don't want to make it a permanent business out of it.

 It would not surprise me. And I think we've all seen what AI did to the leaked Indiana Jones temple run set...

An updated Galadriel with a dress piece instead of the brick slope piece is a must

I should be careful for what I wish for though, I only have so much money budgeted for hobbies each year and if any of these came out it is likely I would spend more on these than I would just buying Rivendell (would need like 40 battle packs or more, and at least four complete CMF sets if not more). By my count that’s $800-$1000 for battle packs and $250-$400 on CMF sets depending on how many come out)

OOF! I didn't even think about a potential CMF series, lol. Will definitely wait and see what's happening after the rivendell release. As it stands rivendell alone doesn't make too much sense for me as I started with lego after the heyday of castle and lotr, so I don't have anything lotr related in my collection. If they release battlepacks, sets and a cmf series then thats gonna be insanely expensive for me. Oh boy!

So far there has been brickheads, a $500 D2C Rivendell, and leaks of a prototype ~$400 Barad Dur.  I think it is pretty clear this relaunch of the theme is mainly targeting AFOL's (and TFOL's too but probably to a lesser extent, see prices).  Playsets therefore seem pretty unlikely IMO.
If these sets do sell really well though, I could see LEGO making:

  • CMF series or 2 dedicated to the theme
  • Additional lower price ($100-$200) D2C sets (might be redundant to the below item)
  • Diorama sets (exp. the Bridge of Khazad Dum)
  • Kinetic creature display sets like the Harry Potter theme's Hungarian Horntail, Fawkes, and Hedwig (exp. Witch King's Fell Beast, Great Eagle)
  • Helmet sets like Star Wars (exp. Sauron's Helm, 2nd Age Elven Soldier Helm, Gondor Soldier Helm)

Don't get me wrong, I would love to have new playsets for the theme as well but I think if we were going to get some, we would have seen them already being sold alongside the brickheads.

The diorama series I’ve seen on instagram is really impressive. I wish Lego takes inspiration.

Harry Potter is a good theme to compare to. They consistently get 1 giant 18+ set a year. So 1 set a year is the most likely scenario with some smaller desk clutter in between

I think since they made the shards of Narsil that it would be great to get a scene from the prologue where Isildur cuts the ring from Sauron's hand.  I really think a set like that would be awesome with some Men, elves and orcs with a little bit of scenery like rock formations.  I'm hoping for more sets especially Balrog, Witch King and Eowyn, Gondor, Meduseld, Prancing pony, more hobbit holes, City of the dead, Dead marshes, Osgiliath, Lothlorien, Rohan, Bree, and many others.  I really hope to see Orcs again, and there are so many minifigs from LOTR that I would love to see.  I would like to see different hobbits than the fellowship ones,  would love to see people from Gondor and Rohan, and we definitely need Gondor soldiers and maybe even Ithilien.  More Orc generals like Gothmog would be nice.  Obviously a felbeast would be great and I would prefer it to be molded or if brick built it should be of the quality of what they did like the skeleton dragon from Ninjago.  I just really hope we get more castle/fantasy themed sets in the coming years.

Remembered today I’d noticed a few comments ( not all on here ) that Lego seemed to have 2 of the Hobbits’ hair switched  .. but when you google the 4 of them stood together seems to be pretty spot on .. or as close as Lego colours will allow 😁

No, they did switch the hair of Sam and Merry... but that's easy to fix by switching it again between them :-)

They did switch them but I think they may be more accurate now.  If you prefer the colors they chose in 2012, it is an easy enough swap as you have said:)  There are other small color corrections they have made like the dark green on Legolas' torso instead of the less accurate dark brown on the torso released in 2012.

Just looked at several pictures of the four Hobbits, and it really depends on the lighting. Sometimes Sam looks ginger, sometimes not; sometimes Merry looks ginger, sometimes not. In all honesty the dark orange doesn't fit either of them, the most accurate option would be to just give them both medium nougat or (in an ideal world) for LEGO to have recolored it into nougat ("flesh") for one and kept medium nougat for the other.

...That said, I'll be in the camp of displaying mine with the 2012 hair colors, since all four Hobbits having very different hair color is good for visual distinction even if a little inaccurate, and ginger Merry is what I'm used to.

Been wondering if Lego might consider taking some of the events not quite elaborated during the movies and make them into small dioramas.

As far as the superheroes are concerned, they release some classic-theme, Batman/ CMF for example, sometimes side by side with the classic movies.

We’d probably have to get pretty deep in the theme before Lego started considering something like that. And pretty much the only thing not from the movies that’s really a possibility would be Tom Bombadil. But again, extremely unlikely.
Although if we were getting any other solely book characters, I’d love to see a Saruman of Many Colours.
