Dufresne Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 (edited) Here's my entry into the Impulse category. Title: The Captain's Grudge 15 pieces After a number of unsuccessful raids, the crew organized a mutiny against their captain. Chaining his legs to a cannon, they pushed him overboard, sending their incompetent leader to the murky depths. Unknown to the crew, however, the pure rage boiling within their former captain kindled an unholy flame within him. Now, the lust for revenge is all that keeps the captain alive, even as his clothing rots and the fish eat his flesh. He will drag his cannon across the ocean floor until he achieves revenge against the crew that betrayed him. Edited May 12, 2008 by Dufresne

Fluyt Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 (edited) Large class entry: Broadside's Barkadeer (106 pieces) (I've read barkadeer means something like small pier, hope that's right ) Originally designed as a small class entry (with 93 pieces), but it contains a 16x24 baseplate, so now it's a large class entry. Since I had quite some pieces to spare, I added the archway, shark and a minifig, now totaling 106 pieces (still a whole lot of pieces left). Just like with my impulse entry, I mainly tried to keep it looking like something LEGO would/could produce and capture a bit of that classic pirate feel (yellow sand, and no "new" pieces (like 2/3 slope) for example). Contains 4 minifigs (Governor Broadside, an imperial soldier and 2 pirates to fight (a male and a female pirate), a shark and a parrot, a real shooting cannon, enough weapons to arm everyone with 2 weapons and of course some booty. The minifigs, weapons and animals: My photography skills haven't improved yet, and I really have to learn to use photoshop to create a nice background , it can really mean the difference. Dreamweb Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 (edited) Entry Class: Impulse Name: Imperial Armada Training Facility Piece count: 25 + minifig as instructed. A Spanish Soldier improves his fencing skills using a training model on a rotating platform. Note that I used new colours (new grey and brown), to make it look like a modern set. The cutlasses are taken straight from the new Indy set. I think it would be great if Lego realeased a small set like this, as it features some not so common pieces, like the Armada flag, green railing or the soldier himself (plus obviously the bley cutlasses, non-existent in the Pirate line). I swear to all my Pirate Lego that I came up with the idea before seeing Mr. Fat Tony's impulse entry which may be considered a bit similar (but not much). So it's just a coincidence. jaudeau Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Entry Class: Impulse Name:Imperial Cannon Piece:22 I imagined the soldier who carried a cannon and produced it. The soldier aims for the pirate and hides in the bush. “Bomb!” (a cannon hit) “I got it! Let move to the next place.” I expect continuation of the early pirate series. Brickshelf Gallery: click
TQmaster500 Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 (edited) Large Entry: Abandoned Royal Outpost Size: 200 pieces Description: An officially 'abandoned' outpost of the Royal navy, 2 marines are left to fend for themselves against bloodthirsty pirates. Luckily a local privateer comes to the rescue... This set has three main parts: the abandoned Royal outpost; a small pirate vessel, and a privateer catamaran. The outpost is built so that it can be opened by sliding the two 16x32 base-plates apart from each other; when it is opened everything still fits together nicely. It has a small dock guarded by a cannon that also guards the treasure inside. It has a very abandoned feel to it, like it has been attacked a lot, so there are a lot of 'unfinished' edges. The pirate vessel is based on a black hull (from a police boat of old I think?) and has a cannon and original Lego pirate sail. The catamaran is based on pieces from the very first droid star-fighter set from Episode I and the sail is from a wagon in the wild west sets (luckily it had some cool cutlasses on it!). This is the first model that I have put online, let alone in a contest, so let me know what you think! Here it is: Main image... Inside the outpost... The front while the model is spread out... Here is the link to my flickr that has all of the pieces I used (a quick note, I miscounted the pieces at first so there is one extra small barrel that I took out, but it's still in the pics of the laid out pieces). If there are any more angles or closeups you want to see just let me know! My Flickr Page Thanks for putting on the contest, it was a lot of fun!!! Edited May 11, 2008 by TQmaster500
