I don't see Lego giving up the license and i don't see Lucas arts giving up either.

Agreed.

As long as the animated TV series exists and there's a group of customers this license will be renewed.

It's already been renewed once and I am fairly sure it'll be so again.

No need for TLG to slaughter the Golden Cow - and Lucas is also making good money on the deal.

I think it's pretty normal renegotiating a deal such as this once every 5 years or so.

If there was a finale, then it's now with the launch of the 10th Anniversary sets.

I would like a collectors boxed set with every SW minifig ever made. That would be pretty sweet and maybe a stand which you could put them on.

Ha! Did you read the first post?

Ah but wait you forgot, TTgames has confirmed it is releasing another game this year, Warner has said it will NOT be Harry Plopper, and TTgames hinted it might be another game we have already seen, most likely another star wars game.

Then of course we are in a world recession, only way for a company to keep going is make what people want, everyone loves lego, and everyone loves star wars, it would be silly for either to not work something out.

I would say SW is TLC biggest theme amongst AFOL, so it would be in their best interest to keep making them, and its more money for L.A.

Then of course some time this year, or next year L.A is going to release the live action star wars TV show set during the Jedi purge.

(3 ROTS - 4 ANH).

If TLC wants to shot themselves in the foot, and L.A doesn't want more royalties (laughing my off), then i want the final sets to be more stuff from the force unleashed, and Darth Vader's ISD.

A lot of Star Wars games have been produced.

The gaming license TLG has is only for LEGO-related Star Wars games.

So no beef there

I am convinced that the license will continue, especially with that new TV thingy coming up.

Really, so lego doesn't have the license for batman or Indi?.

That's a very interesting topic, darkrebellion!

Like the most of you I, too, think that TLG will elongate the license on SW products.

SW and City are the themes where TLG sells its mosts products. So if TLG doesn't sell any SW sets anymore they will loose a lot of customers. Surely there will be a point when they won't enlongate the license any more - but imo not before 2016.

But - like you can see mainly when looking at last year's SW sets - the quality of SW sets is and even will change seriously. PT sets seem to disappear completely - and there surely will be regrettably only very few OT sets in the future, too (this year is surely a great exception because of the 10th anniversary).

I really hope that TLG will not give up releasing OT sets (the only SW sets in which I'm interested and which I (aim to) buy)! So I hope they will release a lot of sets which haven't been done before (like e. g. Obi Wan's and Luke's home with landspeeder, tusken raiders and a bantha; Home One (as a whole ship); Tantive 4 (as a whole ship)) and release sets which they already released but which were imo not that what you await (like e. g. the Cloud City; Jabba's Palace; the Hoth Rebel Base; Mos Eisley Cantina; ...). And I hope that they will not release 150 Euros - open end Euros sets but even little and medium sized sets, too.

I also think Lego ( if the license was discontinued  ) should make a stand with every figures ever realesed ( including chrome See Threepio and Darth Vader ). But i also think it should include loads of never before seen figures, like gold plated Artoo Deetoo's etc.

But for me to buy it, they would all have to be fleshies. Maybe they could do two editions, one with yellow heads and one with flesh heads, too please both audiences.

I think that it should be an aniversary set though, i couldn't bare it too end, even though we will have to face it one day. :cry_sad:

I did read the first post , but i gave you exactly what i wanted.

Yes they do, but only the LEGO-related games license.

If it (the game) has LEGO figs or structures, then the license belongs with LEGO.

Leaked reports say the next TT game is Lego Indy 2, and there was even a powerpoint presentation at the Toy Fair which explicitly showed that game, although it was taken down very swiftly. Although a Clone Wars game is inevitable, it won't be this year. Plus with a Lego Indy 2 coming, it only proves that there's no point in buying the games, until they release the "complete saga" editions.

*huh*

I totally misunderstood this then...

If TT Games is making a LEGO-related game, then they're probably doing it for TLG.

It's been several years since the fiasco of TLG making their own games.

The CW series runs for five more years with five series so I would expect they wouldn't cancel it. They are writing up the six series now.

What has LucasArts got to do with the license?

Ah but wait you forgot, TTgames has confirmed it is releasing another game this year, Warner has said it will NOT be Harry Plopper, and TTgames hinted it might be another game we have already seen, most likely another star wars game.

There is a Spongebog game coming according to rumour, and TT Games confirmed that they are doing a second Indy game.

Anyway, this thread is morbid. It's like planning a funeral before the "guest of honour" is still young.

If the Star Wars License does for whatever reason end in 2011, then I would like for them to go back and redo all of the sets with Fleshy figs and updated peices. If not that, then I would love to see these following sets:

AT-OT- Aayla Secura  , Commander Bly( Printed Limbs), 30 327th Star Corps Troopers

Lars Homestead- Owne, Luke, Beru, 3PO, R2, and some Jawas and random droids

Penatarki Arena- 20 Battle Droids, Ki-Adi, Aayla, Shaak Ti, Quinlan Vos, Jango, Mace, Boba, Dooku, Padme, Anakin, Obi, and the rest of the CIS in the balcony, and a bunch of Geos.

These are some pretty rediculous ideas, but I doubt that it will end anytime while I'm still in my youth. But I think that those locations/ vehicals, would be great, even if not with those figs. But I think that we should get Ki-Adi, Aayla, Shaak Ti, and other CIS leaders regardless of the end of end date.

He didn't say anything about Lucasarts. I do agree though that it is unlikely they would give up the theme anytime soon, unless something bigger and better comes. But, mine as well speculate. I would expect a line with sets from every movie that have not been explored, and a "set" that has every minifigure on display. The problem with a big final set would be that it would be too expensive and wouldn't sell very well.

Well, if they do drop the license in 2009, I would like to see dome minifigure packs, like the ones from 2000, but this time with 5 per package, and make enough packages for every figure, and make one special with like 30 jedi. The price would be I don't know, $5.00-$10.00, and $30.00 for the jedi pack.

You mean 2011? They're not dropping it this year!

There are still more OT and PT and CW sets to be made, but by '11 we'll pretty much have everything covered. My fallout plan is to go back and buy all of the sets I never got during my younger years and then go off to become a Castle nut.

Seconded! :cry_happy:

And don't forget the three beasts! :sweet:

That would definitely be a great finale! The only other thing I could think of would be an all-silver Naboo Royal Starship with the false Queen Amidala, Handmaiden Padmé, Qui-Gon, Padawan Obi Wan, Captain Panaka, Jar Jar, R2, and young Anakin! :oh: It is possible, seeing as TLC had no problems releasing a set with an all-silver car.

Or how about an Ultimate Podracing set with all the pods from the Boontha Eve Classic, plus some tribunes with Watto and Jabba and the commentator(s)! :sweet: That would be way expensive of course, though.

Also, I'm still waiting for a UCS Darth Vader bust! :vader:

Ultimately, it would be awesome if TLC could give us

that don't exist as real figs yet, in one way or another! :cry_happy: Edited by Oky Wan Kenobi

The license will continue untill Lego gets outbid by a rival or Lego decides its not profitable

I imagine we will see sets for many years to come

It works great for Lego, it works great for Lucas and it works great for the fans

Secounded!

Vader bust would be just one black blob...

What! It would be amazing!

It's a shame Maul never sold well. I have him now and WOW. I have no idea why anyone wouldn't want him!

But my thoughts on the subject are: 1. the licence won't end in 2011. 2. They won't have a 'grand finale'. It will just be another year... mabye another voting thing, but i don't think we'll all get what we want.

But, when star wars does end, i think i'll go to MOCing star wars, some City, some Indy, and world landmarks (Effiel tower, taj mahal ect)

Not if they do it in chrome black in celebration of the end of the licence! :sweet::grin:

But yeah, I don't think the license will end anytime soon either.

Some people have posted ideas such as a huge Arena Battle or other sets of that nature. While those would be great, they are simply never going to happen. That kind of set would have to be like 400-500 dollars, and would not sell well at all. Who would spend that kind of money for a set that was basically a ton of minifigs?
