darkrebellion Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Some people have posted ideas such as a huge Arena Battle or other sets of that nature. While those would be great, they are simply never going to happen. That kind of set would have to be like 400-500 dollars, and would not sell well at all. Who would spend that kind of money for a set that was basically a ton of minifigs? Well, I think a Geonosis Arena set at a $150-$200 price point would make a very iconic set . I think this mainly cause it is one of the few sets that we really still need. Quote

Who would spend that kind of money for a set that was basically a ton of minifigs? The kind of people who bought the 10188 DS. I mean, that's what the DS basically was: A bunch of minifigs and grey bricks for $400. And believe it or not, it's selling well. So, I don't see what the difference would be in having a PT equivalent to the DS. In fact, with all the kids these days being more into PT and the CW, something like a Geonosis arena might even sell better than the DS. Quote
DarthSion Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Oh man, come on another Indi game, ok the first was good, but another would be like making a 4th Indi movie when stiff as a board Ford was like fossil age and putting in a really crappy actor as his son. Oops too late. I would also like to see an AT-AT (aqua terrain armoured transport), and the invisible hand, and what was the ship they hunted for 3 episodes in clone wars. Quote
Geopolis Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 A medium playset like Cantina, Jabba's Palace or Jedi Council Chamber with 10 new alien figs/heads. Not that we can't build the structures but we'd still miss some alien figs to fit in. Quote
Skipper 24 Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Ha! Did you read the first post? No but I read about half and thought I had the general gist of the conversation. Obviously I was wrong . I think also a playset would be good. Here are some ideas I have for them so far... Jabbas Palace - Jabba, Gammoreans, Han, Leia disguised and normal, Weequays, Rancor, lots of play features and hidden traps! Geonosis Arena - Geonosians, Obi, Anakin, Padme, Geonosians, Reek, Acklay, (the other beast), collapsing collums and a stand area. Boonta Eve classic podrace - Crowd members, Anakins pod, Sebulbas pod, Quadranaros (spelling)pod, some other racers pods too, commentator and crowd stand. Quote
Commander Flash Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 Jabbas palace: A two-layer playset, With the top as the main area, with Jabba, The entertainers, and some droids. The bottom one could be were the rancor is, and have a door to close on it. It would come with: Jabba the Hutt, Oola, a couple random aliens, Luke, rancor, and several play features. Quote
CommanderCody77 Posted February 3, 2009 Posted February 3, 2009 I think the Kamino Cloning Facility would be cool with 30 Clone troops and 4 kaminoans Quote
Millacol88 Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Recently I have been thinking about something: whether or not the Star Wars license will soon be over. Some say that there simply aren't enough new sets that they can keep creating, and some say the line still has a full head of steam and will keep on going. Currently we have heard no announcements of a license renewal, so what do you think? Voice your opinions and discuss here. Quote
Mirandir Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Regarding the fact that Star Wars increased LEGO's profit last year makes it extremely doubtful that the license will end anytime soon. I think we'll see LEGO Star Wars for years to come. Quote
DarthSion Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 NO, its already been said its their best selling line, and if you bothered to search you would have seen its been done to DEATH. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?...2&hl=ending http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?...1&hl=ending http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?...&hl=license Quote

KimT Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Topics have been merged into one great discussion on the Star Wars license and how long we expect it to run for. Enjoy and discuss on! Quote

Millacol88 Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 No worries.Everyone can make a mistake A mistake, as in your only allowed one? Back on topic, I don't see the license ending anytime soon. I believe Hasbro has already renewed their license and with any luck TLC will follow suit. However, at some point it will inevitably end, and I think a UCS Jedi temple or a Tantive IV in the same scale as the ISD from 2006 would both make great "last hurrah" sets. Quote
KimT Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Of course they'll renew it. Why shouldn't they? With all the good things (marketingwise) going on right now with the TV series and other things to come, I can't see why a renewal shouldn't happen. TLG and Lucas are making good money on this and noone throws away money. Quote
Skipper 24 Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 I guess you're right KimT. If the TV show is still on in 2011 which it probably will be they may as well renew the license as it being one of LEGOs most popular themes (I think). Well I know it brings in a lot of money anyway . Quote
RileyC Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Altough this doesnt sound true i cant stop thinking that it is. I still think that lego and lucasarts will resign the contract just becuase theyre making a lot of money out of it. Quote
Tyrant Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 (edited) The only possible reason I could see the license ending would be if Lucas wanted a bigger chunk (which is a possibility that shouldn't be overlooked, even though it is hopefully unlikely). If HASBRO develops a serious competitor to LEGO between now and then, be worried. They let their license for the CCG end (I can't think of the name of the company) right as they were stating to get into making sets for the prequel films. The main reason was that HASBRO had aquired Wizards of the Coast and they could consolidate more of the license under one roof. Also, I could have sworn at some point I had read that Lucas owned a noticeable chunk of HASBRO, but I can't remember where or when so I can't back that up. As for not having enough to keep it fresh, I think they have plenty. I believe there is room to recycle sets if they space them out. Things like TIE fighters and XWings will always be in. It may be necessary to reissue them in larger sets (like a set with both of them). The idea would be to do it several years apart. And they can always reuse sets that they only used once years and years ago. Along with that, if they tap the EU more, there is a wealth of figures and vehicles. I know I am not the only person who would like to see a TIE Defender, a TIE Phantom, or a Z-95 Headhunter. Even within just the Clone Wars we seem to see new vehicles with reasonable frequency. We still haven't seen a set of Asajj Ventress' ship or the Republic artillery and the most recent episode featured CIS anti aircraft cannons that I think would make a great set (because it would probably be cheap, among other reasons). I think there could be a few more sets made from The Force Unleashed. Edit to add: Just remembered, the CCG company was Decipher. Edited March 7, 2009 by Tyrant Quote
hollisbrick Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 I think the liscense will stay for a while Still so many possibilities left Quote

TLG and Lucas are making good money on this and noone throws away money. I agree - they're making big bucks over there, and the contract will obviously be extended. I'm guessing that this was just a sort of rumor, a possibility that was being run through TLG that Diester's uncle caught wind of. If not - curse you, Pippi! As for not having enough to keep it fresh, I think they have plenty. You're quiet right - there are millions of LEGO worthy items in the SW universe that haven't been created into sets yet, as well as many scence from the movies. Edited March 7, 2009 by Adam Quote
CommanderCody77 Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Everyone knows the license will end soon but I think 100% that LEGO will renew the license Quote
iH Master 13uilder17 Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Also why would Kit Fisto and Qui Gon be with Darth Vader and his imperial shuttle? but this is probably a joke, lego would never put pippi longstocking. (just googled searched it) Quote
