Fershwitz Boran had finally returned to his homeland in shame. He had failed to find the one named Adym Wrenchmonger and had been stuck in time for a couple of weeks!

He could only hope the Leader would be generous to him and give him another mission, this one of which he would succeed.

The next morning, Lord Kenneth and Lady Kristine brought Daryl to Master Pent’s chamber. Daryl was looking much better than yesterday. All thanks to Master Pent’s Rejuvenation spell. Master Pent smiled at Daryl “I hope you have a nice sleep last night.” Daryl nodded his head, still remaining shy.

All of them sat down in a round table near the tower’s balcony. “Oh well, Daryl. Can you tell this old man what happened in the village when the Black Wraith Demons attacked?” Master Pent speaks in a relaxing manner. Daryl placed his head down, looking onto the floor board. Lord Kenneth said “We are here to help you and your brother. However, we need to understand and size up the situation. Master Pent is a very wise wizard. Tell him what you know.”

Daryl paused a moment and mumbled a few words softly “It happened so fast.” Lord Kenneth pats his back and said “Do not worry. Just tell us what you know.” Daryl finally speaks up “That night, my brother and I saw lots of incoming shadows in broad daylight. We find it very weird and decided to explore the forest. We are hiding behind those bushes and overheard the shadows speak. They are finding people whom are born in a special month and a special day. I do not understand their conversation as it filled with riddles.

Suddenly, a group of wood cutters went into the woods and spotted them. The shadows emerged and take shape of what the rest claimed as “Black Wraith Demons”. One of them said “Leave no one alive. Make sure they do not have any breath to tell others of our meeting. Then, during the assault, my brother and I lie low to prevent them from detecting. But we are wrong. They knew we are there all along and followed us into our village. They annihilate all of the villagers including my family. My brother and I were separated. I do not know what happened next. I am very scared.” Daryl stopped everything and burst into tears.

Lady Kristine coaxes him “Calm down young boy. You are very brave to fend against those evil. We are very proud of you.” Master Pent is in deep thoughts after listening to Daryl’s story. He asked Daryl “Can you tell me both of your birth date?” Daryl wiped away his tears and said “Actually, both of us are twins but I came out two minutes later after my brother. He was born in the Year of Phoenix, in the Seeker day. And I was born after the Seeker day.”

Master Pent took down their birth dates and looked through his crystal. “Maybe, they are finding people whom are born in legendary years such as Phoenix, Dragon, Unicorn and etc which are born in the Seeker day. I cannot conclude the reason behind it. But this is the logic I can interpret from your words. We need to find the other boy. But I am pretty sure they are no longer in our kingdom. Everyone, please return to your rooms. I will like to have a moment to myself. Another thing, Kenneth and Kristine, please report to me later. I will like to have a word with the both of you.”

King's Chamber

Do you really think this is a good idea?

I don't have any idea.

Well, that's reassuring.

Oh, don't worry, Shadows is good at this stuff. He's watched a lot of TV detective shows.

Should I assume that was supposed to make me feel better.

Yes.

Good... All we can do now is wait.

Well, not exactly. I need to do something, but it's going to mean leaving for an hour or so.

Will he back before then?

I don't think it's likely.

What do you have to do?

I think I should just do it and not explain. It's better that way.

If you say so, I trust you.

I'm glad to hear that... I'll be back shortly.

Aluvar leaves the King's chamber, making sure the posted guards are fully prepared for any possibilities.

I can't believe you're doing this.

Oh, don't get all nervous on me now, I'm nervous enough myself.

You should be, you're about to face a killer!

Not a killer, well, not exactly. Well, ok, a killer, but not a violent one.

A nice peaceful, friendly killer?

You're doing it again.

Sorry...

Shadows approaches a large oak door and begins banging on it, loudly. The door opens quickly, revealing an elderly man in a robe.

What? Who are you? What are you doing here? Do you know how much noise you're making? Are you crazy?

Do you really want answers to all of those, or just the important ones?

You are crazy! I'm calling the guards!

Don't bother.

Shadows casts a quick spell. The man slumps to the floor.

Hershnell! Who is it at this hour?

I'm sorry, Hershnell is napping, perhaps I should introduce myself?

Shadows steps over the now resting servant, into an open entryway.

WHO ARE YOU? GET OUT OF MY HOUSE! DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?

Do you people always ask so many questions? :hmpf:

I am the Countess Ravenia! My brother in law is the King! He'll have your head!

Oh, I doubt that tremendously, he's dead.

He's what? The countess appears to be near fainting, then recovers. When did this happen?

An hour ago. No one seems to understand his illness. Well, no one but me.

I... I don't believe you. He can't be dead. Oh, this is horrible, you must be lying, you must be a horrible lying man!

I assure you, I'm as honest as they come, or my name isn't Hargdar Flingblot.

Did you say you understood the illness? That's impossible, no one does. All the experts have tried to solve it.

Not all of them. If they had all tried, he wouldn't be dead.

Do you know of an expert we missed?

Just one. You.

Me? Oh, I'm no expert in poison.

I don't believe I ever mentioned poison.

Er.. well, you know, of things that poison the body like disease, of course. That's what I meant.

No, but you are quite the herbalist, and since you were the one who introduced the poison into his system, I have no doubt that you could have cured him as well, but that would be silly, since you wanted him dead so badly.

I've never been so insulted! You're a crazy man, you must be. How could you insinuate such a thing???

Well, for one thing, the poison used was a plant that only grows in two places in the world. One is in the depths of a Skellie swamp.

And the other?

Your garden, of course.

I see. Perhaps I underestimated your intelligence. I'm sure we can come to some kind of arrangement.

Oh yes, I'm sure we can. I'm a very agreeable sort, for the right price.

Money is no object. How about 10,000 gold?

Yes. That will do nicely ...

I knew we understood each other.

... for a start.

Hmmm... :hmpf_bad:

The Countess Ravenia comes down the stairs and proceeds into her study where she retrieves a small chest, which she hands to Shadows.

Here is 5,000. It's all I have in the house. I'll have access to a great deal more, very soon.

Not good enough. I want it all, now.

How am I supposed to come up with that much at this time of night?

Perhaps a visit to the king's chambers will reveal some items of value that might satisfy my needs for now?

Yessss... I would sort of like to see the old goat dead anyway. I think you've had a wonderful idea. Give me a few minutes to change into something presentable, and we shall go to pay our respects to the king.

The Countess laughs a particularly disturbing laugh as she heads back upstairs. Shadows shifts from one foot to the other nervously. Bluervo continues listening from outside. Hershnell snores.

Royal Crypt

I don't know about this, Aluvar, maybe it's not such a good idea.

This is our chance to make right of a wrong.

It's not natural!

Neither is a talking bird.

Don't start.

Ah, here we are...

Aluvar waves his hand and the door before him opens with a groan. Bright blue light streams out of the doorway, a rush of air nearly extinguishing his torch.

I'd forgotten how beautiful that light was.

It's purity is absolute, or else it wouldn't have done what it needed to.

Are you sure about this?

Absolutely.

Fine, let's go.

Aluvar and Pinky enter the crypt. Lying before them is the queen, perfectly preserved by the magical force that surrounds it.

Here goes nothing!

Aluvar begins chanting. The light dims, eventually fading away, leaving only the dim flicker of Aluvar's torch. As he leans in towards the body, the Queen momentarily awakens.

Aluvar...

Yes, my Queen, I have finally discovered the source of your illness, and it's cure.

Aluvar puts the potion to the Queen's lips, slowly pouring it into her mouth. A blue light begins glowing around the her as her energy is slowly restored.

A nightmare... it has been like being eternally awake, yet asleep, frozen in time...

The nightmare is nearly over.

What of the one who did this? Who was it?

I have no idea, but someone is dealing with it as we speak. This will take some time, and I must leave to deal with just that matter. Pinky will stay with you until you are able to walk on your own.

Thank you...

No need, it was about time.

Pinky lands next to the queen. Aluvar uses his torch to light the others in the room, as well as those he passes in the hall as he exits.

Outside the King's Chamber

Remind me to execute those guards.

Which ones?

Those idiots that let us in.

Why?

Are you kidding? They shouldn't have let us in like this, they're fools.

Oh, I see, right. Your surname wouldn't be MacBeth, would it?

No, why do you ask?

No reason...

Shadows opens the door to the King's chamber and the two enter slowly. The King is in his bed, lying with his head tilted to one side, his tongue hanging out.

Well, it looks like you did it, all right.

Yes, I did. It makes me feel all warm and happy inside.

Right. It was a pretty good job too, just like you did on the Queen.

You know about that? You're seeming more and more intelligent by the moment.

Aw, thanks, but it's nothing compared to you. I don't completely understand how you did it, honestly.

Which part?

I know it's a poisonous plant and one that no one here is familiar with, I understand that much.

That's more than all those idiot wizards ever figured out.

But how did you discover it, and more importantly, how did you get him to take it?

Ah, that's the easy part, really. There is this wizard, well, he isn't much of a wizard, but he likes to be called one, so I humour him. He came to me one day, a few years ago, asking if I had this very special plant in my garden. I didn't. I'd never heard of it.

And?

And, being a curious sort, I did some research and found a reference to it in an old book. It seemed like the kind of thing I would want in my garden, so I tracked it down, or, I had it tracked down for a price.

You have quite the deadly garden, don't you?

Oh, you have no idea. So, once I had a sufficient quantity of it, I began testing it. I killed all sorts of people before deciding on my real goal.

The queen.

No! The king! I didn't mean to kill my sister, that was a mistake. I wanted the king dead, then I would console her and manipulate her and take over the kingdom.

What happened?

I made him a cake. A delightful cake, filled with poison. I never imagined that she would have a piece before him and take ill so quickly. He never ate a bite and she was dead in a week.

And how did you poison him?

That was easy. I tricked his fool son into putting it in his food.

Rangdar, of course.

Yes... You're beginning to amaze me. Well, I told him that his father was getting too old to be king and that his mind was slipping. I convinced him that the herb would restore him and make him fit to rule, thus preserving the kingdom. I'd have said anything to see him dead. He has kept me from my proper position and he cost my sister her life, all because he didn't want any cake.

Well, now you've had your revenge.

Shadows waves his hand toward the king.

Oh yes, that is a lovely sight.

Well, I can't say as I care much either way, I just want my money.

Don't worry, I'll make sure you get exactly what you deserve. Now, would you be so kind as to hand me that jar?

What jar?

The one on the mantle there. I can't reach it and you're so tall.

Sure... :look:

Shadows turns toward the fireplace and reaches for the jar. Ravenia pulls a very large dagger from her sleeve. The King sits up. Aluvar steps out from the shadows. Ravenia gasps.

WHAT? You're dead!

Not hardly.

The queen enters through the open doorway.

Neither am I, dear sister.

NO! It isn't possible! I KILLED YOU!

So you did. Now I shall return the favour.

The Queen motions toward Ravenia, throwing her into the wall, nearly cracking her spine.

PLEASE! NO! I DIDN't ACT ALONE!

Really? Perhaps you'd like to tell us the whole story?

I shouldn't trust you, you lied to me.

I didn't!

You did.

What I said was, "I assure you, I'm as honest as they come, or my name isn't Hargdar Flingblot."

See?

Oh, my name isn't Hargdar Flingblot. Do I look like a Hargdar to you? :hmpf:

Dragonator stood up and tapped his glass.

Your attention everybody. I hope you are enjoying your meal. It has now come to that time between dinner and desert, when we shall sign the treaty. I would now like to call upon the two signatories who have not yet signed. Firstly, the Black Falcons, if you please.

Most certainly. My kingdom was unsure of this alliance, but I now believe it is the best way forward. Without us working as one, we will soon be over-run by the attacking skeleton army, and anyone else for that matter. I will sign the treaty.

Stepping forward, Gremoth took up a quill and signed his name, followed by the other delegate. They finished by placing their seal in the pool of wax that Marcus poured on the page.

Thank you. Now I would like to call on the signatories from the Kingdom of Morcia to-

Just one moment. Since I have arrived I have not liked what I have been hearing. You plan to battle against Ankoria, our neighbours. Why choose to do such a thing? And why do you need us to fight together? I will not sign this treaty.

Why would you of all people care for Ankoria, they are your Kingdom's greatest enemies!

Mind you own business. I for one have no more here.

The two hooded Morcia representatives stood up and left to their rooms. Dragonator could not help but think their was something odd about the pair.

Well that was unexpected. From what Morcia has said to me so far by letter, they were very eager. We will see what they say in the morning. Anyway, thank you to the rest of you. As the first act of this alliance, a military council is to be set up with two representatives from each of the kingdoms. The two representatives from the Dragon Masters are myself and General Marcus here, however it will be up to your own Kings etc to chose for your countries. I will be in touch with them all by messenger. If that is all for the moment, bring out the desert!

Food was brought out, and the people all soon were indulging in the rich, sweet pastries and cakes that were on offer. It would appear that the y had forgotten of the pair of mysterious Morcia representatives sleeping above them...

Meanwhile...

L7 Dragons Keep

Grim struggled up the last flight of stairs and came into the courtyard. At the main gates he could hear a large ram smashing against the doors. The ramparts above were deserted, not a sign of the city guards trying to protect the city.

Not... much... time...

Grim hurried towards Ragnir's rooms, in the modified stables. Pushing the door open, he was met by a blast of fire that casually skimmed over the top of his helmet.

It's only me Ragnir!

Sorry...Ragnir replied sheepishly.

You must get out of here, the city is being attacked, and Lord Dragonator would not like it if I let a dragon stay caught up in this.

Thank you for your concern, but my orders from Dragonator were to stay here and watch the Keep, and that is what I will do. Besides, they have taken Baby Nizbet hostage.

Well, if that is how you feel...

A loud crash came from outside, followed by jubilant shouting.

...I will stay by you. I hope that we have known each other long enough for me to call you friend.

Any friend of Dragonator's is a friend of mine. Shall we go?

Why not?

Outside, an armoured Scorpion Knight approached the door, only to be knocked over as it was blasted open by a burst of fire. Ragnir and Grim came tumbling out. Swinging his axe high in the air, Grim charged into the approaching knights, bludgeoning his way through. With a great roar Ragnir also swiped anyone who came near. Suddenly Grim felt a great weight hit him in the head, as someone smacked him with the pommel of their sword. He went down, and his vision was obscured by blackness...

Meanwhile, outside the city walls, Adym and Majiko headed off into the south to find Dragonator and report what had happened.

That does it!

What?

I'm tired of waiting. I don't know why Aluvar had to leave so suddenly, but for him to simply leave us for that Dragonator character to take care of is silly.

He seems nice.

He seems nice. :hmpf:

What? He does!

Because he sends up food for you to stuff in your face, sure!

Hey, it's good food!

I'm leaving.

WHAT? You can't just go off on your own!

I wasn't planning to. You see, I have these two knights who are supposed to be escorting me. I sort of expected them to come along.

At your service.

Thank you, Flynt. Good to see that one of you remembers his duty.

Um. I don't think we should go.

Why not?

Well, nobody told us to.

I'm telling us to.

As long as you put it that way, I'll have the carriage ready in the morning.

No, you'll have the carriage ready now.

We're leaving now? I haven't even finished dinner!

You've finished three dinners. Go get the carriage ready, and exit by the window.

The window?

We aren't going to announce our departure.

What about me?

Oh, well I guess you can come along, Boney.

Thank you!

So, it's settled. Let's blow this joint.

What?

I don't know why I said that, but it sounded really good, didn't it?

I guess.

Just get the carriage. :hmpf:

Grandoth climbs down to the ground below. Alyss tosses her bags out to him, nearly crushing him. The group boards the carriage and Flynt mounts his horse. Suddenly, several armed men approach.

Stop there! Where do you think you're going?

We're leaving.

Oh no you're not. We're under strict orders not to allow anyone to leave this meeting until it's over. It's a matter of security.

Alyss sticks her head out of the carriage.

Oh. I'm sorry. We didn't realise that. I hope we haven't troubled you.

Please come back inside with us now.

Grandoth?

Yes ma'am?

Run them over if they don't get out of the way.

Yes ma'am!

Grandoth snaps the reigns and the horses respond immediately. The guards barely have time to jump to safety.

Give my regards to Dragonator, boys!

The stunned guards head inside the tavern to report the event.

Dragonator was the last man left downstairs, after all the other people had retired to their rooms. He was about to go up to bed himself when on of the guards crept into the room and timidly saluted.

My Lord?

Yes, what is it.

You know how you said that nobody was allowed to leave...

Who left?

Ah that woman and her two guards.

What? Aluvar wouldn't want them running round on their own! Ah I guess it is for the best, I can't spare a large escort anyway at the moment. She always was a girl who knew her own mind. I hope nothing happens to her, or Aluvar will not be happy.

As you say sir.

What are you still doing here. You are dismissed.

Thank you my lord.

The guard went back outside, and Dragonator retired to his rooms for some much needed sleep.

That night...

A sliver of light appeared at Lord Calvin's door. It slowly opened, making barely a sound. The door then shut, and a large shadow crept towards the bed...

Crown Castle

King's Chamber

Are you sure about this?

I am.

But what if something goes wrong???

Nothing will go wrong as long as you do as I've said.

I don't know, someone could figure it out.

No one will suspect a thing as long as the real Vrend is locked in the dungeon. He is, right?

Wha? Oh, yes. Can we get on with this?

Look kingy, I don't mean to bore you or anything, but it's my life on the line here.

He has a point there.

Yes, but he called me kingy again, so I don't care.

Sorry...

Ok, sit still and I'll do this.

I don't like it. I don't like it a bit!

Shadows waves his hands, muttering a few indecipherable phrases in a language no one in the room has heard before. POOF! A puff of smoke envelopes Bluervo. When it dissapates, Vrend is standing in his place.

Hey! It worked! It worked!

I told you it would.

I still don't see how this will help.

I'll explain it one more time. Vrend admitted that he was working with Rangdar, but that he thought he was simply being loyal to the crown. He claims he was convinced that we were trying to kill you. It all seems to go back to those skellies that captured Bluervo. Maybe they're all telling the truth, maybe not, we need to find out. So, Bluervo will go to the secret entrance to Crown Church to report that there has been an assassination attempt on you and to ask how to proceed. We should learn a lot from the encounter.

Sounds reasonable.

Reasonable? It's crazy! I can't believe I'm doing this.

Pinky will be watching from a safe distance, and there will be an entire squad of guards at his command. If anything goes wrong, they'll be there to help.

Fine. Let's just do this.

Bluervo, in his newly formed Vrend body, walks out the door, meeting Pinky as he leaves. They go over the plan one last time, and then set it in action.

When did this happen?

Just a few days ago. I didn't think much of it, but now that Ravenia's deception has been revealed, it seemed important.

Yes, yes, good thinking. Thank you for coming to me, Duke.

I just can't believe it all, I mean, I know she was a little odd, but I never imagined she would try to take over the kingdom.

It came as a surprise to all of us. I am not, however, surprised to hear that she had met with Flangdor, he's always been trouble, though never quite this much.

I'm sorry I couldn't hear what they were discussing.

No matter. We just need to figure out where he's gone to. I really do wonder what he's doing now.

K-18

Castle Town

Alley behind Crown Castle

Let's see here, I know it was one of these stones.

Bluervo finally presses the right one, opening the secret entrance. He cautiously enters the dimly lit hallway. As he reaches the room in which he had previously met Rangdar, he sees two of the cloaked skellies standing in the shadows, the large chair facing away from the doorway.

My lord, I have news I must report!

The chair turns slowly, revealing it's inhabitant.

Oh really? Do tell!

Bluervo stares in shock at Flangdor.

I... the King... he's been attacked. An assassination attempt.

Really? That's odd, I've heard nothing of that. You seem uncomfortable. Perhaps you should have a seat?

No, I need to get back to the castle before anyone realises I've left. I just thought you should be notified.

Yes, a good idea. You should do that.

Bluervo turns to leave. Flangdor gestures to one of the skellies, who promptly bashes Bluervo in the head with a chair, rendering him unconscious.

I wonder who that really is.

From the sound of his voice, I think it's that bird.

What?

That blue bird we captured. The one you tricked.

Oh, right! Aluvar... it figures. Well, it's about time the tables were turned on him.

How shall we do that?

Take him to the dungeon through the tunnel. Leave him in place of the real Vrend. It will take them some time to figure out what has happened, and by then, it will be too late.

Why do we want Vrend? He thought he was serving Prince Rangdar, he never knew the truth.

We want him because he will be of use to me, and this exchange will confuse matters.

Yes sir, as you order, so shall it be done.

You could have just said, "sure" and left, you know.

I am sorry, sir, it is part of my training.

Uh huh. Go. :sceptic:

The two skellies leave, dragging Bluervo behind them.

Uh, yes. Diana, this is my friend, Cecilia.

Hello! A pleasure to meet such a fine lady!

He grew up with me in our village. What have you been up to lately?

Oh, you know, same old same old. I've been trying to gather up some guys to fight those undead skellies out there, in return for pay, of course  !

Any luck yet?

No, none, to be honest. I managed by killing a couple by myself. What are you doing over here??

I was traveling up north, to search for adventure, up until I met Diana on a big field, isn't that right?

Diana nodded.

If you don't mind, Diana, would it be alright for my friend to tag along with us? Would you like to, Cecil?

Sure, absolutely! I'd love to.

Just as the shadow creeping through Lord Calvin’s bed, a glimmering green light shines at the corner of the room. The shadow was surprised, immediately cast his blade towards Lord Calvin. The green light thrust forward and appeared in front of the shadow. The shadow charged front and swirl its blade towards the light and a loud clang was heard.

It woke Lord Calvin and turned his attention immediately to the shadow and shouted “Who are you? Why are you in my room?” The shadow thrust his sword again without hesitation. Lord Calvin dodged it and realized that “Shadow Spear” has been protecting him against the shadow. Lord Calvin grabbed shadow spear and attack the shadow. It was dark and he could not have a clear visibility.

Lord Calvin noticed around “You are a very good assassin, able to hide your aura very well too. I will sniff you out.” Lord Calvin shouted “Shadow Bind.” The spear was emitting green light in the room and discover his location. Thus, he is able to charge towards the attacker. The attacker evades his move.

Suddenly, Karen and few soldiers came in and saw the commotion “My Lord, are you all right?” She saw the attacker and took aim from her crossbow and shot. But all are missed. The assassin broke the window and jumped out of the room. When the both of them looked out of the window, the assassin is nowhere to be found.

Lord Calvin immediately issued an order “Inform Dragonator about this incident. I want him to investigate the cause. I can’t believe that there is a security lapse. Lee has covered the whole area unless it is an attack from inside. Men, the assassin is highly skilled. Be careful. Conduct a thorough search in this area. He will not go far.” Karen and the rest of the soldiers immediately response to his orders and execute.

A knock came at Dragonator's door.

Come.

As the door opened, Dragonator put down the pen he was writing with and looked up at the soldier.

Yes, what is it?

My Lord, there has been an assassination attack on one of our guests, he was lucky to survive.

Hmmm, I noticed that there was something strange afoot here. Please go check and see if all our other guests are alright.

Dragonator stood as the guard turned to go.

Oh yes, but before you go could you take this man down to my guards outside and tell them to throw him in a cell somewhere? Thanks.

Dragonator walked out the door as the guard turned back in surprise to notice a man tied up and gagged on the floor with a nasty lump on his head.

Ah, yes my Lord.

Dragonator walked out into the hallway to find Lord Calvin standing by with some of his entourage.

My apologies for this. I can assure you that nobody has got past my defences, so it was definitely someone from this meeting who tried to kill you. And I have a fair idea of who too.

At that moment one of the MOrcia representatives stepped out of his room, looking rather dishevelled.

What is all the racket? Some of us are trying to sleep.

I am sorry my good sir, we were discussing this evenings events. Can you explain why one of your men was in my room with a poisoned knife?

The man started up in surprise, almost knocking his hood off. Pulling it firmly down, he replied.

They are all hired hands, he must have been a bad pick. My... apologies for your situation. I must get back to bed.

Quickly, he turned back to his room and went back inside.

How very interesting. I would suggest we all do the same and go back to bed, we will seewhat comes of this in the morning.

As the trio walking towards Imperial Tavern, the fabulous aroma caught them. Diana smiled “I certainly missed the pork ribs. They served the best ribs in this kingdom.” Both of them were smiling away as they walked into the tavern.

A loud voice shouted across “Hey, the three of you. Will you like to taste some nice juicy ribs? There is a table over here. Come on.” Diana led the both of them to the table and speaks to the innkeeper. “I will like to have one signature dish and a couple of drinks. You know the usual.” The innkeeper took down their orders and shouted to the kitchen “One Imperial Ribs for this table.”

“Well, let’s chat over our meal. The food will take a moment or two. So, what are your plans at the moment? I intend to investigate the earlier incident which happened earlier. I feared it will be too dangerous for the both of you to join me.”

As Lord Kenneth and Lady Kristine taking a stroll back to their residence, one of the guards ran up to them and said “My Lord, Sir Percival had returned and is waiting at the residence.”

Both hurried up and found Sir Percival is waiting for their arrival. He went up and said “My Lord, I am glad you are safe. I have heard reports of your return and make haste to return to the Capital.” Lord Kenneth lifted Sir Percival “Disperse with ceremony. I am glad that you have returned safe too. I must thank you for reporting to Master Pent from the earlier incident.”

Sir Percival nodded “It’s my duty. My Lord, all border patrols had been alerted and briefed on the Black Wraith Demons incident. But, regarding on Master Aluvar, I was not able to accompany him down and provide assistance for him. However, Master Pent had dispatched Flynt Caraway from the Imperial Guards to follow in his travels.”

Lord Kenneth replied “I trust Master Pent’s judgment by sending Flynt to accompany Master Aluvar. You need some rest. We will visit Master Pent later in the evening. And you, Kristine, you need to rest too.” Both of them nodded and made their way to their respective chambers.

Crown Castle

Underground Tunnels

OW! Hey, look, I know you're gonna kill me, but you don't have to be rough about it.

Oh no, we aren't going to kill you, we're going to use you.

Use me?

We're exchanging you for the real Vrend. They'll think that you're him.

You were supposed to think that I was him.

We knew better immediately. You didn't smell right. I'm not sure how the Master knew.

The master... Flandgor is a two-bit, half-wit, can't-cast-for-sh... um... he's a crummy magician in an oversized hat.

Yes, he is.

If you know that, why are you working for him?

He serves our purposes, for now. And here we are.

The cloaked skellie slides a rock out of the wall and peers through. Not seeing anyone in the dungeon of Crown Castle, he presses the stone that opens the secret passage. A wall shifts, providing enough room to enter. As he does this, the other skellie bashes Bluervo in the head again, to keep him from crying out. They drag him into the dungeon, unlock the cell containing the sleeping Vrend, and toss him inside.

Now, we'll take this one and see if he has valuable information. It will take them hours before they even discover the switch.

Shadows steps from out of the ... well ... shadows and casts a quick spell, slamming the two skellies into the wall behind them, knocking them out and shattering a few bones along the way.

Welcome to the party, lads, so glad you could make it!

Do you always have to be so overly dramatic?

What? It was a good line.

Now what?

Now you wake Bluervo and return him to his normal form while I get these cloaks.

What do we want those for?

We're going for a little walk.

Oh dear. You know, it's a wonder you've lived as long as you have.

I know. Exciting, isn't it?

Shadows crosses over to the skellies and removes their cloaks, discovering several small pouches and other items underneath. He collects it all together and assumes the disguise. Aluvar wakes Bluervo and returns him to his normal form.

I can't believe it! You saved me! How did you ever figure out that we'd end up here???

Oh, I knew they'd try this, I just didn't know how. Nobody in the castle was aware of that tunnel, so I needed them to show me.

WAIT! You set me up??? YOU...

You did a very good job, good enough that you've earned a stop at your favourite pub.

Does everyone know about that?

Bluervo flies out the cell door. Aluvar begins putting on his disguise.

What is all that stuff?

Mostly weapons, some lock picking tools, a rather nasty device I'm uncertain about, a couple of pouches of gold, some more of that poison herb, oh, and a ring.

Well, that pretty much closes that case. The skellies and Flangdor were behind getting Ravenia to kill the King, and the Queen before him.

Yes, but think about it. That was years ago. They've waited all this time to strike again?

That does seem odd.

It means that they've been up to something else as well, they had to be.

We need to find out what!

That's the idea. What do you make of this ring?

Shadows hands Aluvar the ring, which he examines closely.

This is exactly like the one the king gave me to take on my journey. I wasn't really sure what it signified, aside from being royal. I think this might be the Queen's. They must have stolen it from her body somehow.

Interesting. When we've finished this little mission, we'll ask them about these rings.

Shadows and Aluvar exit the cell. Elgarth, nephew of the King and head of castle security, and Wernst, trusted royal guard, are waiting for them, along with several others.

Are we ready to go?

You're in a hurry.

I have a score to settle with them. I may not remember it, but Bluervo told me everything.

Very well then, let's go.

The group enters the secret passageway, prepared to meet whatever lies ahead ...

Nearing a village

OH OH!

What's wrong?

I'm starving!

Not again!

Can we stop at the Imperial Tavern? I hear they have the best ribs in the kingdom!

It's true. I've spent many a pleasant evening there.

Well, I guess a stop couldn't hurt anything.

Grandoth pulls the carriage around the back of the tavern and the group proceeds inside, pleased with the atmosphere and aromas surrounding them. Alyss notices someone at a back table.

It can't be.

What can't be?

That woman, seated in the back... I know her.

Why isn't that possible?

I thought she disappeared, off to see the world or some such. Let's find out!

Uh, sure...

Alyss walks towards the table. Suddenly, an explosion rocks the entire Tavern. Most of the guests begin to panic.

What was that?

I think we'd better go find out.

Alyss, Grandoth and Flynt rush out the front door, the other trio on their heels.

Well, I didn't have any plans and Cecil (Who is a guy from now on  ) just told his...so...

Well, you could join me, Siloux!

That's a good idea, so that's it. I'll join up with Cecil and go on commission to kill some undead skellies.

Siloux pauses and ponders.

It's too bad about your plans, I would've liked to accompany you for a bit longer.

Cecil turns to Siloux.

Hey, how is your practice going, do anything amazing yet?

What? Oh, , you mean me practicing to be a priest? Well, it hasn't been too bad, I've been able to bless my arrows :look:

That's good. Say, Miss Diana, would you mind if I asked what you do?

Diana examined Cecil carefully and smiled “For a guy, your hair is indeed long. I thought for a minute that you might be a lady. I must apologize for my mistake.” Siloux laughed and said “Don’t worry, this is not his first time. Since young, our villagers always laugh.” Before Siloux is able to finish his sentence, Cecil stomped on Siloux’s feet. Siloux shouted “Ouch. That’s pain.” Cecil winked his eyes “That is not the first time I stepped on your feet too. Miss Diana, shall we continue where we stopped.”

Diana grinned and laughs “Yes. Where were we just now?” Diana thought back to the conversation and said “Oh. I remembered. You were asking me what I did. Personally, you can consider me as a Forest Ranger which had left home for the past 3 years and now I am back again. Or you can think of me as the Princess of Black Knights Kingdom which I have little regards.

Cecil exclaimed “What? You are a princess? Are you joking?” Diana showed a fade smile and said “No. Siloux knows my identity too. And I think there is no need to hide it from you either since you are his friend.” Siloux glanced at Cecil and nodded his head. Diana asked Cecil “So, what is your profession?”

Suddenly, an explosion nearby rocks the entire tavern causing panic and fluster among the guests. Many of them ran out fearing that the tavern might collapse. Diana said to the rest “Take your weapons and head outside now.” The trio grabbed their weapons and gears, headed outside of Imperial Tavern immediately, not knowing what lying ahead of them.

I swear, when I get my hands on whatever caused that explosion!

Uh.. he seems awfully fired up.

They got between him and ribs.

Oh, right.

ALYSS?

It is you! It's been a long time, Diana. Shame we meet up under such circumstances. Who's your girlfriend?

Uh, he's Cecil. I've been traveling with his friend Siloux.

Hello! You must know Aluvar, since you know his driver. It's funny, but somehow we all keep running into each other.

Right, funny.

There is another explosion in the distance.

I'd better deal with this.

You'd better deal with this? Uh... :look:

I hope one of you can deal with this! LOOK! :oh:

Grandoth points down the street at a shop where 4 Black Wraith Demons can be seen smashing the place into bits. Nearby, a small tower explodes, having been struck by fireballs from another 4 demons. Alyss reaches for her staff and Diana for her weapon as well.

You know, I think there might be enough of them for both of us to get a chance here. I'll take the tower!

Alyss runs off in a full charge, screaming at the top of her lungs, scaring the hell out of the local residents, and Grandoth for that matter.

Same old Alyss...

What about us?

You stay here Siloux, if she can take on 4 of them, so can I!

Diana runs down the street toward the shop, wildly swinging her weapon.

Grandoth, Flynt, Siloux and Cecil just look at each other for a moment, wondering what they're supposed to do. :hmpf:

Meanwhile, Master Pent went to look out of his window as the earlier explosion created a loud bang. Viewing outside, there are black smokes in the Eastern Capital. Out of the sudden, he shouted to himself “It can’t be. Why am I feeling the Black Wraith Demons’ aura here? How can they enter into the Capital without me detecting it?”

Master Pent fell to the ground and felt his powers are weaken. “Something or someone is channeling my powers away from this vicinity. Guards, come in immediately.” Master Pent shouted for them as he pulled himself up. The guards came in and said “Master Wizard, what are your orders?”

Master Pent tried to catch his breath and said “Under my direct orders, you are hereby to summon Lord Hector Valise, Commander of the Imperial Guards into the tower now. Issue a state of emergency order to him. Top priority orders are to be followed, protect the King and his royal family. All Imperial guards are to be stationed and defend the tower from our enemies.” The guards were shocked that the state of emergency order is issued and nodded their heads quickly.

Master Pent shouted again “Then, if you understand, get going now. Why are the both of you still standing here?” Both of them ran as fast as they could, to the Valise Residence. Master Pent sat on his chair and looked out “This is very bad. I must send a message to Lord Jason and Prince Sam to make preparations. They must know the current situation

He wielded his wand and poof. A white owl came out from the smoke. He said “It’s a good thing that my Master, Aluvar left a gift for me. Fernando, listen up. Tell them that Black Wraith Demons had strike our Capital. State of emergency order is issued. Prepared all necessary defenses and strengthen our borders. Send us a strike force to the Capital to aid the defenses too. Fernando shook his head and said “You, old man. You have not summon me for a long time and now I have to do all this chorus for you?” Master Pent said in a stern tone “Quit messing around, Fernando. This is very serious. I need you to do these for me now.”

Fernando flap his wings and said “Well, you old man. You better remember that I helped you today.” After making his last words, Fernando took off and soars through the sky. Master Pent said to himself “Why Aluvar gave me a pragmatic owl while he has obedient parrots.”

Somewhere in the tunnels in Crown Castle, Aluvar sneezed a few times. “Oh dear, someone must be saying nice things about me.” He sneezed again. “Don’t worry, let’s move on.”

Location: L13 (Valise Residence, Black Knights Kingdom)

Lady Kristine crashed into her brother’s chamber and said “Did you hear the loud bang?” She was surprised to see her brother is wearing his armor, getting ready for battle. Lord Kenneth looked at her surprised sister. “My sister, the explosion came from the Eastern Capital. I am sure something serious had happen. Kristine, please stay with Daryl. I am going to investigate the matter.” Lady Kristine said “Brother, let me go with you together.”

Lord Kenneth showed a fade smile “My sister, please stay with Daryl. I feared it will be Black Wraith Demons. I feared for your safety. Please stay here.” After saying his last piece, he took his helmet and sword, headed out to the gates.

Comments by WhiteFang: Haha, I just noticed that the word is incorrect. I am sure Aluvar know how he felt earlier. :sweet:

Crown Castle

Tunnels

Aluvar sneezes again.

This tunnel seems to go on forever.

They dragged me through it!

Yes yes, I know, I'm sorry.

You should be!

Keep your voices down, let's not give them any more warning than we have to.

The party continues on, finally arriving at a solid wall.

Looks like this is it.

It can't just end, there must be another way.

No, Wernst, this is it.

Shadows reaches out and presses a loose stone, triggering a secret door to open.

Oooohhh!

You've never seen one of those before?

No, have you?

Lots of times.

You must know some interesting people. :look:

You have no idea...

Can we go now?

Oh, right.

Shadows peers carefully into the dark hallway, then slowly proceeds, the rest of the party close behind him. The party continues quietly down the hallway, eventually reaching a lone room, but aside from a large chair and desk, it is empty.

This is where they were! This is where they took me the first time, and where I saw Flangdor! I know this is it!

It is. I can still feel the cold chill of his presence, as if he is still here. He isn't as weak as he once was.

Just then, three cloaked figures step out of the shadows, two are brandishing large daggers.

You or me?

You're closer.

Right.

Shadows motions toward the figures, sending the two with daggers flying into the wall with a bone shattering thud. The third is unaffected.

Your aim is off.

It isn't...

That can only mean...

Indeed, Aluvar, it is your old friend Flangdor, here to show you just how powerful I've become!

With a cackle, Flangdor extends his hand toward the party, hurtling a fireball in their direction.

That's new!

Shadows rolls to the side, coming back to his feet on the other side of Flangdor. Aluvar steps back and waves the fireball aside, sending it into the nearest wall. No one is hurt.

You're still a third rate magician, you've just traded your big hat for a cloak. It isn't much of an improvement.

Don't mock me, old man, I'll show you!

While Aluvar and Flangdor are exchanging pleasantries, Shadows casts a quick spell freezing Flangdor's feet to the ground. He doesn't seem to notice.

You know, he seemed to think you needed heating up. I think you should return the favour Aluvar.

What? A fireball? It's so last century.

Come on, you know you want to, all the other wizards are doing it!

Fine.

Though his heart isn't really in to it, Aluvar tosses a fireball at Flangdor, who quickly discovers that he is unable to jump out of the way. His cloak catches fire.

AAAAAHHHHHH!!! HELP! I'll tell you everything, just stop this fire!

I guess he showed us, huh?

Now now, lad, let's not let him burn up, he might be of some small use.

As you wish.

Shadows casts a quick spell. A fire hose appears in his hands. He proceeds to spend the next 2 minutes soaking Flangdor until he's miserably wet.

You can stop! I'm not on fire anymore! And that's freezing cold!

I know.

Flangdor sneezes.

Someone talking about you too?

Huh?

So, let's go back to the castle and you can tell us all about the whole idiotic plot, from the beginning.

What if I won't talk now?

Shadows lights his finger with a snap, pointing it at Flangdor.

I was just asking! :oh3:

M10 Dromindur; The Ravine

After the events of the night evryone had slept fairly well. Breakfast was now being served, and most of the representatives were downstairs eating the good food; bacon, eggs, freshly baked pastries and turn-overs, lamb (which is good at any time of day) and beer (which is also good at any time of day). Dragonator stood up and tapped his glass.

Your attention please. As you may know there was an unpleasant occurrence during the night. This matter is being dealt with as we speak. Enjoy the food, after this we will be meeting to discuss our new alliances' future plans.

As Dragonator returned to his seat, a soldier hurried in and approached him.

My Lord, General Marcus requests your presence outside.

Do I never get a moments rest?

This is important my Lord.

Grabbing a pastry, Dragonator followed the soldier outside to find General Marcus standing over a now tied up yet still hooded Morcia representative.

One of the men spotted this one climbing out his window early this morning. It appears the other one got away however. I thought you might like to do the honours.

With pleasure.

Dragonator stepped forward and pulled off the man's hood. The man looked back at him angrily.

Never have I been so insulted in my life! Why you will-hey!

Marcus grabbed the man's arm and pulled up the sleeve to reveal a tattoo of a scorpion.

It is as I thought, from Ankoria. It appears we do have something to worry about from you.

You don't know anything. You are already to late. This land will be ruled by Ankoria! You and your stupid dragons can go rot in-

Pulling back his arm, Dragonator smacked the man square in the face, knocking him out cold.

Some things I can deal with, but not an insult to a dragon. Gag him and leave him in the stables, he will be dealt with later.

Yes my Lord. I just wonder what he meant by 'we are already to late'?

At that moment a horn sounded from the top of the watch tower across the bridge, and a man came racing over towards them.

My Lords... coming from the East... a great mass of men... Scorpion Knights!

Marcus?

Yes Dragonator?

Ready the men, and send out a messenger to the other generals to get back here as fast as possible with their troops, we're going to need them. We have a battle to face today, and we will fight it like a true Legion of the Kingdom of the Dragon Masters!

Yes my Lord, I will see to it immediately. I am only sorry we do not have more men to sacrifice.

That sounds like it's from a movie.

What?

Nothing.

Princesses...

I think I have one arrow left, but I need a few moments in order to bless it so it will have effect on those demons!

I've got my sword here, care to bless that too?

I guess, but don't try to do any heroic feats, I'm not sure if my blessings can do much.

Just do it!

Ok! Ok!

Siloux takes the arms and carries them near a well. He draws some water from it and begins pouring it on the weapons. He began to pray and speaking in an unknown language.

In the next morning, Karen and Lee approached Lord Calvin and said “My Lord, the assassin that attacked you last night is no where to be found. We had searched the entire area, but there is not a single trace.” Lord Calvin showed a stern look “Guess, there is nothing much we can do now. Anyway, Dragonator had caught one of the assassins last night. Let’s find some answers from him” They said together “Yes, my Lord.”

The trio made their way into the dining area where breakfast is served. When they reached, Dragonator seemed to finish his opening speech and was ushered out of the tavern by their guards. Karen said in a suspicious tone “I wonder what had happened? My Lord, we should speak to Dragonator now.”

They went out of the tavern, surprised to see Dragonator and his men interrogating one of the hooded men that seemed to assault us last night. Lord Calvin was walking towards Dragonator, when suddenly a horn sounded from the top of the tower across the bridge, and a man was racing frantically towards Dragonator.

From far, Lord Calvin observed Dragonator’s expression and said “It seemed something serious had happened in Dromindur. We shall walk ahead and asked what had happened.” The trio walked forward towards Dragonator where the atmosphere is getting tense.

Diana runs down the street toward the shop, wildly swinging her weapon, trying to get the demons’ attentions. It seemed two out of four Black Wraith Demons had decided to change their targets and moved towards Diana. The other two are spitting fire balls onto nearby houses. Civilians are scared and panic, and can be seen running around for safe shelter in the Capital.

Diana took out Crossbow Gaia, kneel down and shot triple shots towards an incoming Black Wraith Demon. The demon grabbed all three shots and crushed the shots into pieces. The other demon shot out a fireball, heading towards Diana.

Diana jumped to the back, dodging the attack in time. She looked at them and said “So, you two are some tough boys? It seemed both of you knows some teamwork. Looks like, I must get down to serious business.” One of the demons laughed very loud “Look here, puny human. We are not like the earlier ones whom treat humans so gently.”

Immediately, after finishing his sentence, he spitted multiple fireballs towards Diana. She ran again, but the explosion effects hit and blow her towards the wall. Both demons walked towards her and said “It seemed you are an easy prey for us to finish.”

Diana showed a smile and lifted her head and her weapon and took a direct aim and shouted “Gaia Arrow!” An earth molded arrow charged with fire and incredible speed charging towards the demon on the right.

The demon did not evade and take a direct hit. To their surprise, Gaia Arrow was not a normal shot. Instead, it was a magical infused arrow that was shot, filled with Earth element alignment. The demon flew to the other side of the street, crashed to a house, causing it to collapse.

The other demon stared with anger and hatred “We will be very serious from now on. We are not fun to mess with, puny little girl.”

Fernando is flying in the sky, scouting around for significant landmarks. “Where can Blue Blaze fortress be? Stupid Pent, he did not let me come out and explore this lands often. By keeping me in his seal all the time, it will make my owl instinct becomes blunt. Now, he needs me, and then he released me. How will I know where is where after so many years? I wonder where the hell Blue Blaze fortress is. Well, I must admit that I do not see these children for a long time. It seemed I must persuade Pent to let me out often. Otherwise I will look like a dumb owl.” Fernando keeps on ranting and ranting, trying to find Blue Blaze Fortress, which is defending the western borders, housing Prince Sam Mac Arthur, Commander of Blue Blaze Forces.

Dragonator turned at the sound of approaching people.

Lord Calvin, what a pleasant surprise! I hope you and your people are ready for some battle, it appears that a horde of angry scorpion knights will be here in 10 minutes or so. What fun! I haven't had the chance to battle anyone in ages! We're a bit short on men, most of the Royal Guards who were here are out with my other Generals to pick up some... gear, so it looks like we will have some fun today.

So what are your plans? Lord Calvin asked.

Well, they will be attacking from the other side of that bridge. So what we're going to do is this...

Meanwhile, Marcus was rounding up the men and getting them into an orderly formation.

Come now, quit your dilly dallying, this is serious stuff. Some of you will most likely die today, but it will be an honourable death, fighting for your Lord Dragonator. We will be victorious, as we should have been during the last war! Let us show these Ankorian scum who they're dealing with!

As cheers and shouts of excitement came from the men, Marcus finished briefing the messengers and sent them on their way.

By the Gods I hope they get back soon.

Meanwhile...

M10; 5 miles West of Dromindur

The three Generals, Gillious, Spencer and Andrew were examining some large crates filled with swords, shields and other weaponry.

Ah yes this appears to be exactly what we ordered, good job on the fast delivery Quickwing, you sure do live up to your name!

The large dragon whom Gillious was addressing smiled contentedly and puffed a small stream of smoke out his nostrils.

Hmmm, do both the cavalry and the infantry get the same type of sword?

It appears so.

I'm not sure I like that.

Don't worry dear friend, we have ordered them in a couple of different steals for the officers, cavalry and normal infantry.

Ah, that's better then.

Men, come collect your weapons, and load the rest of the crates on to the back of these carts. Lord Dragonator will be pleased with these.

The men cheerfully helped load the crates and admired their new weapons, completely oblivious to the mounting crisis back in the great southern city of Dromindur.

He looked ariund and noticed 10 or so of his men around and realised the rest of the Clan had gone back to Eradim. Tyrius woke the Dwarves in turn and stopped as he realised that nearby was a large amount of Dragon Knights, Morcians and the like... They weren't Crown Forces but they weren't Undead or Orcs either. He got up and carefully approached a Dragon Knight in Armor, Tyrius had never spoken to a Dragon Kinght or Morcian before but there was always a first time. He hoped to speak with their leader... Lord Dragonator.

"Greetings, O Dragon Knight, I am Tyrius ThunderHammer, Leader of the ThunderHammer Clan" Tyrius bowed and beckoned for the 10 other Dwarves to follow suit. "May I ask to be taken to your leader... Lord Dragonator, I belive he is called, aye?" Tyrius hoped he was approaching the Dragon Knights in the right way.

The soldier turned and looked down at the Dwarf and chuckled, "Certainly, Follow me". Tyrius and the 10 Dwarves followed the Soldier to a Tavern near the Ravine.
