captaintau Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 7670: Hailfire Droid and Spider Droid From Episode: Two Year of release: 2008*** RRP: $20.00*** Pieces: 249*** Having bought this, I was surprised to find a review missing from EB. So here goes. Note that I’m now broadbanded so more photo’s are possible. Yes, I know my photography skills are poor, but I’m a Nurse/Martial Arts guy/LEGO enthusiast, not a photographer. Live with it. Or just don’t read my reviews. Pic’ number one is from Peeron, showing the box. The set is arguably a wholly minifig set, which is interesting. You get three Battle Droids, a Super Battle Droid, the Hailfire (in system scale, as opposed to the technic version) and a Dwarf Spider Droid. The next pic’ is of the destruction booklet with a ruler to show you that it a small set and so a small book. Step one sees the building of the battle druids. Two standard and one commander. They all have new-style arms and new-style short weapons. Behind the BDs is the pearl-blue SBD Then the Hailfire is built. Simple but fairly fun build. Starting with the chassis, then adding in the weapons arms with eight flick-fire missiles. The biggest part of the build is the wheels. Two 10x10 transparent disks with links around them. Tedious but ultimately worth it. After attachment, side trims complete the look. The weapons arms and wheels are on stutter hinges for different positioning, as the following pics show attachment=2084:Ima Side view Action shots (yes, that’s Jedi Jimmy) Finally, the Dwarf Spider droid. Not as good as I hoped. I hate the use of this piece: As it just makes the whole thing flimsy. It’s used in the legs: Interestingly, the Spider Droid’s feet are made from Battle Droid bodies: The whole Spider droid: The whole team: And the spares: That’s a lot of spares, unless I missed something out In conclusion. Nice, small set. I’m not sure it’s really worth the price, though. None of the figures are uncommon. Really it’s role is in completing a Star Wars collection and having battles rather than acting as a standalone set. Not one for the kids, in my view Final scores (taking price into account) Variation of parts 6/10 Parts for Price: 6/10 Minifigs: 6/10 Playabilty factor* 6/10 Build 7/10 Overall 6.2/10** * Includes Swooshability factor, where appropriate ** Previous scores added together to reach score out of total of fifty, then divided by five to make an easy score out of ten. *** Information taken from Peeron Quote

JimBee Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 "destruction booklet" X-D ok review, i love this set, and it makes me so angry/sad that more people than less think this is over priced. i like to think of this set as an advanced BP. ;-) it looks really good next to the MTT and droid BP, despite the fact that the BP has the crappy guns and arms (does anyone know why th MTT and clone Bp had the cool guns and arms and this didnt???) i just got the MTT today, so ill never have to buy another droid BP again! ;-) :-P *y* one question, though. why dont you like the gun piece on the spider's legs? i thought they were cool, and work good for customs on non-SW, such as the matrix. :-P i dont really think they make the legs flimsy :-( id give it an 8 /10 :-/ Quote
captaintau Posted April 6, 2008 Author Posted April 6, 2008 Pics are way to blurry. Can't see any of them. Yes, I know my photography skills are poor, but I’m a Nurse/Martial Arts guy/LEGO enthusiast, not a photographer. Live with it. Or just don’t read my reviews. Quote
