beverly888 Posted September 14, 2018 Posted September 14, 2018 (edited) Over the course of three months or so, I designed the LEGO 360 Coral Reef Aquarium as a submission for LEGO Ideas, that I submitted a few days ago. I'm so excited that it's already got 171 supporters This version of the aquarium was based on two others I'd built over the last year. It's fully enclosed by transparent panels so you can view the interior from all angles to find many delightful corals, two schools of fish and loads of interesting sub-dioramas. On top is a detachable simulated LED light. The base is sturdy with discreet handles that allow you to re-position the aquarium to see inside from every vantage point. To set this model apart from other LEGO aquariums out there is mine is built with modules. You simply build each module then set them into preset locations inside the aquarium. I also steered away from elements that others used in their aquariums so as not to copycat other great ideas. If you so wish, please support my LEGO Ideas MOC at: LEGO 360 Coral Reef Aquarium LEGO 360 Coral Reef Aquarium Please support and share if you like it Edited October 3, 2018 by beverly888 Update with photos :-) Quote
Gneird Posted September 16, 2018 Posted September 16, 2018 So impressive! Definitely motivation to start an underwater area of the City. Love how you used the man-eating plant costume head underwater as well as your method for the school of fish. Thanks for sharing! Quote

Klaus-Dieter Posted October 2, 2018 Posted October 2, 2018 That's simply stunning, beverly888! It looks absolutely realistic and I like all these many details you included. Of course I voted for it on ideas - if it was released as a set, I absolutely would buy it. A decent sized aquarium as a Lego set is definately overdue! Quote
alsielou Posted October 2, 2018 Posted October 2, 2018 I also voted! It is indeed a very sweet set with lovely details and many varied types of sea plants. Quote

paupadros Posted October 2, 2018 Posted October 2, 2018 I'm seriously in love! The coral formations up close are a real beauty to behold. The only thing I would do it tile the base or roughen it up with sand and so on. I love how you've used almost every single colour in the palette! Quote
Bricked1980 Posted October 3, 2018 Posted October 3, 2018 This is a beautiful, colourful and highly detailed model. I love the video you've made as well, it was pretty darn relaxing, watching the camera rotate around the model. I would buy this and have just given it my support over on LEGO Ideas. Good luck! Quote

Roadmonkeytj Posted November 13, 2018 Posted November 13, 2018 Have you looked at this under black light yet? I think it would be amazing to set a black light in your light tube just to see. Quote

LEGO Train 12 Volts Posted November 14, 2018 Posted November 14, 2018 Wow what a beautiful colors and amazing choice of pieces! Quote
Kai NRG Posted November 14, 2018 Posted November 14, 2018 Great aquarium, the bright colors are wonderful and so is your creative parts use! Neat base too, very elaborate. But my favorite part is probably the trans-light blue tube on top! Quote
GiantAmbushBeetle Posted December 1, 2018 Posted December 1, 2018 Terrfic. I've seen a few coral reef MOCs, they are out there, but yours is by far the prettiest. That is one creation I'd absolutely love to buy to put it on my desk. Quote
neonic Posted December 2, 2018 Posted December 2, 2018 Looking very cool I see also you used some yellow flags as 'plant' or ... great. Very creative use of parts and the colors looks also great, very colorfull. I like the base too, looks good with the 'wood' and golden ornaments. Only it's maybe an idea to use transparant clips instead of the grey to hold the fish. Quote
