So I think the new one is more accurate to the film (even if it looks a bit jarring) I'd still rather have the one that looks less cartoonishly big, even if it's not as spot-on accurate. 13 hours ago, Chromide said: I think the new pilot helmet is incredibly ugly, but more accurate. Would rather have the old ones though. The stormtrooper ones are nice. Especially that new Scout Trooper. Yeah I made the mistake of purchasing that endor shooter game set and the scout helmet is the only redeeming feature, I wish it flipped up but even without that it's a great element Quote
Chromide Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Those shooter game sets were overpriced but that's why I wait to buy them for cheap on eBay lol. They don't look great but the concept was interesting. Quote

Chromide Posted July 7, 2019 Posted July 7, 2019 I always used those technic cannons when I set up my army men to shoot down the other armies when I was 9, only had one, on the 2009 Clone Wars Y-wing. Great feature for kids. Quote

Great feature for kids. Technic cannons are the best, although that may just be my raging inner bionicle fan. They are great features for kids, and I think that's what lego wants them to be, just playsets for kids. Maybe this means we'll get some sets where play value isn't as intrusive, maybe not, but it'll be interesting to see if these sell well or not. Quote
Chromide Posted July 8, 2019 Posted July 8, 2019 (edited) Yeah, I kind of feel like this was a test run sort of thing, if these don't do well we may never get them again. Like those minifigure packs from Star Wars in 2000 or the Technic Star Wars sets. Edited July 8, 2019 by Chromide Quote
ARIEL-1970 Posted July 8, 2019 Posted July 8, 2019 Just looking at some of the other sets from the other themes, I find that the other themes seem to be a bit more smooth or modernized. Some of the overwatch sets looks great as an example. Now Vonregs tie looks cool but could be improved more so, These new sets still have a lot of studs showing everywhere and seem to be behind a bit still. wesker Posted July 8, 2019 Posted July 8, 2019 I don't think the Star Wars sets are that bad compared to other Lego themes. The only ones I find to be a bit outdated are the recent TIE Fighters. The 2015-2016 models had smooth rounded designs but the newer models from Solo and Resistance have regressed back to the old blocky builds. Quote

At least with the solo one, the wings are basically just color-inverted ones from the first order special forces one. If you're referring to the cockpit, it looks accurate to the Solo-ANH-ROTJ fighters to me, which is what the solo one is representing. Fighters like the striker and advanced x-1 had more modern, curved designs because it reflected the ship more, at least I think that's why. Lego can't make stick-thin wing to cockpit connections or the fighter will break. Quote

The 2015-2017 TIEs all used the newer Canopy/Windshield piece specifically created for TIEs, while the newer models have reverted back to a printed 4x4 dish just like the early 2000 TIEs. I have no idea why they made this change, it is not consistent at all. Maybe because the cockpit on the newer TIEs looks a bit more like a sphere from the front as the newer 6x6 canopy has a very shallow curve so can be quite flat, though from every other angle that newer dish makes the TIEs look so much rounder and sleeker. Robianco Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 The older TIE windscreen piece was horribly innacurate. As a rounded piece it looked like a pimple on the front of the TIE. Quote

Exactly. The First Order TIE, TIE Advanced and the Solo Imperial TIE have the same mould which is accurate. My only criticism of the Solo Tie would have been to work the Advanced's top canopy piece in as I think it works really well with the screen piece. Quote

Yeah this is what I was getting at. The roof hatch along with the curved corner bricks gave the 2015-16 cockpits a smooth rounded shape that the newer ones lack. The builds on the Solo and Resistance cockpits look too jagged and blocky. Quote

Personally I prefer the newer cockpits and think they're sleeker and more accurate, although I agree with Robianco about the advanced canopy. This is starting to evolve away from our already small tangent of relativity of the resistance tie interceptor so I think it's best we scuttle this topic or move it to a different thread before the mods scuttle it for us. Master Jedi Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 (edited) I recently decided I really wanted the first order Tie interceptor piloted by Baron Vonreg. It was my first shop at home purchase .So very impressed with it's contraction ,love the colour ,I love seeing the design development of the tie's and rebel ships as well ,Just how like during WW2 ,fighter planes like the Spitfire were constantly being up graded ,I believe the spitfire got up to a mark 24.The Tie fighter to me is the Messerschmitt and the Tie intercepter the focke-wulf. Anyway very glad I purchased this set ,great addition to the 'bad guys' ships.I didn't think much of the Resistance Tv serious ,but loved the ships that have being made into lego sets because of i'm seriously thinking now to get the other Tie modified ship piloted by the old timer imperial pilot . Yeah, the resistance show is for children so far, but the designs are pretty cool. Hopefully they'll make the fireball (the greenish ship with a similar design to a z-95) soon. Quote

I still don‘t get why they‘ve released the Black Ace before that one, that‘s as if the Ghost had swapped places with the Rebel Combat Frigate in the Rebels subtheme BTW, is it just me or has TLG gotten better at preventing sets from leaking, at least when it comes to SW? If memory serves me well, we had seen two leaked sets for each of the previous ST films by this time of the year (Poe‘s X-Wing and Kylo‘s Command Shuttle for TFA which leaked late June or early July if I‘m not mistaken and the Resistance Bomber and the FO Star Destroyer for TLJ, the two of which leaked in late May even). The only potential leak we have thus far is that minifig head that might belong to Pryde... Edited July 10, 2019 by Lego-Freak Quote

I would say yes, what I recall from most of the previous wave, like at least I remember Rogoue one and Solo had leaks of basically all minifigures like 3 months before releasing dates. Quote
