Khscarymovie4 Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 Man we have been getting bombarded with set leaks and pics recently. NY toy fair is the best. 75934 Minifigures are pretty great here, and the Dilophosaurus looks nice to me. I don't like the robot build, but the shop side build is great and I love the Indiana Jones hats as I don't see those in sets so much. Price is also the only one that is good. 75935 Baryonyx looks great here. The side build with the trees is also nice. I usually don't care for vehicles but I do like the look of the Jeep and trailer. The VHS tapes is awesome and could make me buy this set. This might be y favorite of the wave. 75937 Ok this one is great too. The Triceratops looks awesome and the builds here are so we'll done. I love the little entrance and the ride attraction. I may have to take away what I said about the last set. This may be my favorite. The problem with both of these sets though is the bad prices. 75938 This is the biggest and without a doubt worst set. The Trex mech is awful and ugly, and the other builds don't do much. Overall I wish we would have gotten more sets from the first 3 movies but I like these sets. 2 are great, 1 is halfway good, and one just sucks. Excited to see the D2C.
Kristel Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 Love the triceratops and you can never have too many baby raptors! Will definitely be getting these four sets.

I mean, c'mon. 15 hours ago, Quicksilver838 said: Danny Nedermyer "Can I copy your homework?" "Yeah just change it up a bit so it's not too obvious" 15 hours ago, strangely said: So Nedry is in these sets. Or at least someone that looks like Nedry. Weird, but cool. That coupled with the JP colored mech makes me a little more confident that the D2C will be JP based. I believe they are related (uncle / nephew). According to "LEGO Jurassic World (whatever the rest of it was called)" I saw on NBC when it aired (I believe in November some time). As for the prices I do wish the sets would be cheaper. But I do like the fact the triceratops is making a comeback.

At the end of The Secret Exhibit he manages to sabotage the park and says his uncle Dennis would be proud. BTW, seen as how this theme takes place in 2012 and Masrani and Hoskins are included. I really hope we'll finally get Zara, Lowery and Vivian in a future wave!

vstat05 Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 Now that they brought back the Triceratops, I think it’s body should be reused for Sinoceratops and Apatosaurus in the future.
Plissken Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 Ah! I just realised, that the Baryonyx uses the Indoraptor legs and got the raptor-claws on his feet. I know, it's a toy and it still looks great, but it's absolutely inaccurate. A small letdown regarding this cool dinosaur...
BrickBob Studpants Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 Interesting boxart: https://zusammengebaut.com/live-ticker-lego-news-new-york-toy-fair-2019-65216/
Whovastron Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 Thought: the D2C is the innovation centre from JW. It’s on a few box arts for the upcoming wave. If it’s not first film based, I’d put my money on that. I honestly wouldn’t mind a big park expansion.

That would be really disappointing, apart from a few scenes the Innovation Centre really wasn't important. I still believe there are only a few big recognizable buildings appearing prominently in the Jurassic series: the OG Visitor Center, the Workers Village and maybe Lockwood Estate. But my biggest problem with an Innovation Centre would be minifigures. Owen and Claire have been really overdone at this point (so I'm glad were finally getting some new variants in the LoIN sets) and I don't know what they could include other than a few random visitors. Probably Zach and Gray? Maybe Zara, Lowery and Vivian (though the last 2 wouldn't make any sense)? Edited February 16, 2019 by Guyon2002

It’s a cool looking building and would be a nice centrepiece to a park display.

If this set is also LoIN related it really depends on what it is

All I want is the gates and the cars. it astounds me that we will have had 3 Jurassic Park waves by this summer, and yet still haven’t had a proper build of the gates, and only 1 original movie set. It’s so bizarre. Lego don’t shy away from nostalgic franchises; ghostbusters, back to the future, wizard of oz. but they seem so reluctant to do jurassic Park. And it’s not like universal don’t like it, the fallen Kingdom toyline had a ‘legacy’ collection with character and dinos from the first 3 films, even human characters and vehicles, so why are lego so reluctant. It’s such a weird decision I just don’t understand it. If the D2C isn’t a big original movie set that they’ve just been waiting for, then I’m stumped. The most iconic parts of the franchise, the gates, and the explorers, still haven’t been done.

The most iconic parts of the franchise, the gates, and the explorers, still haven’t been done. I know right. And besides, there are a lot of people who adore the first movie/trilogy and hate the new movies. They don't get anything when it comes to lego (besides that one JP set last year)! And Jurassic Park is viewed as one of the best movies of all time by many people, so why aren't they capitalizing on that? No one knows I guess...
Captain Nemo Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 I mean I don't know why it has to be one Visitor Center over the other... The next Jurassic film doesn't come out until 2021, and the sets based around the franchise (even tangentially apparently) sell very well. So Lego and Universal are clearly trying to drag this out until then--not that that's a bad thing. I'm very impressed with these four sets--in fact I would argue they're the best "Jurassic" sets we have gotten, and they're not even based on the films. Giving the designers more free reign often yields more interesting results--same reason why comic based Marvel sets are superior to MCU ones, because every third set isn't another Quinnjet. Although even if one doesn't like the builds for the these sets, I think it's also undeniable that these four sets have the most detailed and closest to screen accurate dinosaurs throughout the entire line. And dinosaurs are like the whole point of this so that's great! Anyways back on the Visitor Center, I wouldn't be surprised if we end up seeing both versions in brick, if at different scales and price points. Frankly they both have a good/bad problem. The original (while iconic) is only interesting for its interior (its obscured exterior was not even completed, aside from the doorway apparently--and interior for the dino skeletons, we already have a set for the other interesting half of the building), and the new center is only interesting for its architectural interesting exterior.
GoldenNinja3000 Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 I would LOVE a D2C Lockwood Estate but I know it would never happen. I wouldn’t mind the Innovation Center (hopefully with a Brachiosaurus or Mosasaurus!!) and maybe some building facades around it to simulate Main Street. I can see that happening with these new park based sets. I’d also love an original Visitor Center, but I’m afraid a set like that wouldn’t have any new dinosaurs- just another T. rex and more raptors.
Whovastron Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 If they ever feel like it, they could easily make a whole wave or two based on the first 3 movies. Spread out that could keep the theme going for a few years. from the first film there’s obviously the visitors centre, the raptor paddock, tree paddock, the 2 different cars. And for dinos there’s the raptors, trike, Rexy, brachiosaurus, the ‘flocking’ ones. for the second film there’s the big trailer vechile, the tree hide, all the military vehicles, the camp, there could be a san Francisco set. and for the third, the spino obviously, the pterodactyls, The ‘bird Cage’, the plane, Eric’s hideout, the boat. So many possibilities.

I've waited so long for a Baryonyx and then we get this. I love the coloration and the head, but they literally swapped the hands and feet of its real counterpart. All because they couldn't be bothered to make a mold for medium sized legs without a raptor claw (which they could've already used for the carno, it's way too big). To me this feels like taking a Trike, moving its shield away from its head and instead putting it on its butt to call it a Sinoceratops

So it was pretty obvious from the start they would reuse the Indoraptor pieces
TheGlynreaper Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 they could do a set recreating the final scene of Jurassic park with the 2 raptors and the t rex or a set with dennis nedry and the spitting dino with the jeep in a £20-£30 value
BasiliskSoldier Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 If we get the Innovation Center over the Classic Visitor's Centre, I'd be mildly disappointed. Unless the Innovation Center's coming with a Mosasaurus or a Sauropod. Those'd be pretty cool.
BrickBob Studpants Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 They've repurposed Queen Watevra Wa'Nabi's crown piece as a broken egg shell, clever parts usage right there https://www.fbtb.net/lego-jurassic-world/2019/02/16/toy-fair-2019-jurassic-world-legend-of-isla-nublar/

Kuddos to the designers for that detail Also pretty cool to note is how Danny's Hawaiian shirt in the Mech set is dual molded and has arm printing! Combine that with young Hoskins, (Fallen Kingdom finale) Owen and Claire and the figures in this set are amazing!
vstat05 Posted February 17, 2019 Posted February 17, 2019 (edited) I don’t think LEGO is reluctant so much as Universal is pushing its brand further with the newer films. I do think the d2c has to be based on the first film though, to keep the older crowd interested for sure. Pchan1983 Posted February 17, 2019 Posted February 17, 2019 Mixed feelings on the new sets. Probably will just buy the sets with new dinosaurs mold only.
