I've never seen a live one either, but I don't understand how they could do such a nice job making that head sculpt (looks fantastic), yet can't be bothered to do a minor modification to the feet. As soon as I saw the first image my eyes were instantly drawn to the feet as the sickle claw stuck out like a sore thumb. :sceptic:

Keep in mind I also collect $500+ Jurassic Park statues so it's become habitual to me to impulsively visually scan images of new things from head to toe to ensure it's spot on or not. I understand this isn't the same caliber so shouldn't be scrutinized as much.

I completely understand the decision as a new mold costs them thousands of dollars

I know right. And besides, there are a lot of people who adore the first movie/trilogy and hate the new movies. They don't get anything when it comes to lego (besides that one JP set last year)! And Jurassic Park is viewed as one of the best movies of all time by many people, so why aren't they capitalizing on that? No one knows I guess...

The question is, which of the movies are more familiar to kids.

This can't be iterated enough. Kids aren't going to be nostalgic over the old JP movies; a new TV series would catch their attention for sure.

Plus I think Lego and Universal would love to go all out but Lego has budgets (of which this theme lost a bit to Harry Potter), so Universal probably had to choose promoting their current JW brand and probably long planned show, over movies from 20 years ago.

A theme to do with dinosaurs requires a lot of new molds if we want to be satisfied, so I'm guessing this also counts as a sort of "safe" wave for the means to raise profits that will justify an even larger budget next time. The Baryonyx head, young Dilophosaurus, both of their movable jaws, and possibly the revival of the rumored broken Triceratops mold is where the money went for this wave.

Given the TV show's Hammond design, I think its highly likely the D2C will be JP based in order to have one classic set like in the FK wave. If this theme succeeds again, I think they'll definitely dive into making even more JP content. Maybe eventually Universal would want to expand to the vehicle centric TLW, and maybe something from JP3 if they really want to.

So, Mattel has unveiled their giant Brachiosaur figure. Anyone think TLG will follow suit? I reeeeally want that lego Brachiosaur!!! :-)

Nope, the Brachiosaurus is way too large a mold for lego to make. It could happen, but the chance is very small

As long as the neck and legs made it look tall, I' be ok with a new body mold the same size as the T. Rex's and reuses the tail. My only issue is how they'd make the neck work, maybe something similar to dragons?

I'd be okay with Lego scaling down a Brachiosaur to make it more feasible. None of the other dinosaurs are exactly to scale, to be fair, and smaller is better than nothing. Besides, headcanon would allow me to declare it as young and be done with it.

Nice! What are those buildings in the background? They look gorgeous, are those MOCs?

I believe those are modulars. On a sidenote, why does the Trike have raptorlegs?

Am I the only one thinking that the torso from the new Ernie fig from HP would be great for a purist Benjamin Lockwood?

Personally I think Ernie would make a better Hammond while Lor San Tekka is spot on for Lockwood.

You do know he was talking about the torso right? Not the face

It would certainly look good but Lockwood wore pyjama's in most of his scenes so it wouldn't make a lot of sense to give him his ''casual'' clothing. Let's just hope lego includes him in some kind of set in the future!

The torso is good, but what is really amazing is the hairpiece! It's exactly what a Hammond figure needs! It'll definitely be a solution in case the D2C isn't based on the first movie

I think the chances are high that piece was made in this new white color with Hammond in mind, especially since there are more accurate hairpieces for Ernie Prang

Ah, that’s what I get for staying up so late. Agreed, we don’t have many options that would look right as Lockwood’s torso.

Doesn't LEGO realise how much people want stuff from the original movie? Or am I completely misinformed? Did the one Jurassic Park set sell that badly?

I believe it's a Universal thing, honestly, keeping in mind the efforts to re-theme other Jurassic properties around World; I suspect this has to do with the fact Asian territories are more invested in Jurassic World branding, which is why Park stuff is often exclusive to U. S. / Western retailers, all the more so with the knowledge it is absolutely high in demand. Notice, for example, Mattel's Legacy figures being Target exclusives. As long as the deal continues, I am one hundred percent certain we will see more classic Jurassic Park stuff in the future, but probably more as exclusives and D2C than general release items for now. I think more will trickle out later if the theme become truly evergreen.

Plus, let's be honest, if they just made the Jeep, which is coming sooner or later, people are going to stop caring pretty quickly. I'm a huge fan of the series and think you could build entire waves around the middle sequels and two to three around the original film, but this conversation always comes back to the jeep. I haven't even seen much interest in the Ford Explorers that captivated me as a kid, but I'd love to see one of those, too.

Honestly, you can make plenty of sets without including a Ford Explorer. And since lego loves making vehicle sets so much TLW will probably be very good for them (even though I'm personally MUCH more interested in location based sets than vehicles, that's why I dislike lego Star Wars so much)

We should expect a reveal of the d2c next month right? Like last year, the Velociraptor escape and Dilophosaurus Outpost sets were revealed before the entire wave released that same month in April.
