I love all of these newly revealed alternate faces. I was planning on skipping the mummy because her face was a little too goofy looking for my tastes, but the reverse side is making me reconsider. The mountain biker’s glasses are pretty cool too. It’s also great how the fox suit girl and dog park attendant have really uncommon expressions for their reverse sides - I don’t know when I might need someone with an ‘I just smelled dog doo’ face, but it will be fun to have.

Well, I can definitely see why some people were rather disappointed with this series now that I've seen the official pics:  There are literally only 5 figs I actually want from this one, namely the Intergalactic Bounty Hunter, Jungle Explorer, Mummy, Monkey King & Knight (Undead Fright Knight!).  As for the rest, while there are some interesting head prints (particularly the female heads) and hair pieces, I'll just BrickLink those particular parts or grab them when they hit the Build a Minifig stand at the closest LEGO store.

Still, this series is far from the worst that LEGO has come out with for one of their non-licensed series, IMO.  That particular "award" still goes to series 18 (a.k.a. the crappy mascot series) as far as I'm concerned (18 was also the only series I skipped completely).

Funny, I feel the opposite way. I originally shared the disappointment and was only interested in the Monkey King, the Bounty Hunter and maybe Johnny Thunder, but now that we saw the high-res pictures makes me want to get multiple Monkeys, the programmer, the gamer and the mummy. I really like the details on the print, particularly the gamer's call-backs, the mummy's death mask and the Monkey Kings mountain pattern armor:wub: I feel like the Monkey King's armor will be really useful for medieval Chinese armies :sweet:

This series looked better than I expected, I never had high hopes for ones like the bounty hunter, biker, or programmer but they look cooler in these images. Good to see the alternate faces and especially the monkey king looks great, like the torso printing. The dog cleaners hat is from city sets right? Also do we know what the face print of the bounty hunter is.

The gamer also is a nice surprise, I knew I’d like the figure but the symbols on his jacket make it great. The rugby player also manages to have some personality. I didn’t realize how much of their prints don’t come through in the grittier images.

I'll get the full series as usual, what may look like a boring figure now will probably be perfect (or have a perfect accessory) for a moc later on.

Johnny Thunder looks really excellent, my new favourite along with the fox after seeing the official pictures.

Monkey King & Bounty hunter looks cool.

Gamer & coder looks even better than expected!

Actually there's usually mozzarella on pizza which is not cheese.

Different countries have different topping and cheeses on pizza. This is clearly a deep pan pizza from the thickness, so nothing to do with Italian pizza. So I expect it to be American cheese, which is very yellow.

Although why is mozzarella not a cheese? And why is the Italian pizza called quattro formaggi if one of the four cheeses on it isn't cheese?

There is just too much going on with that jacket for me. It looks more like a pyjama shirt. Shame, as the T-shirt underneath is nice.

Ah, ok... they call that... a pizza...

Actually it's called "quattro formaggi" but they're three cheeses + mozzarella. We call mozzarella, stracchino, robiola, crescenza, (but also yoghurt or butter) and so on "Latticini" which is difficult to translate in english. Basically, if casein coagulates, it's a cheese. If it doesn't, it's a "latticino".
It's important to mark the difference because people may be allergic to either, both or none, depending.
My girlfriend cannot eat any kind of cheese, but can freely drink milk, eat mozzarella and so on.
It's quite difficult when we go abroad because we have always to specify that mozzarella, being itself not a cheese, is not amongst the things she cannot eat.

Some of our local pizza places use parmesan.

Now, back to the Lego.

That Monkey King torso looks like it came from the Chima designers.

Hopefully the Rugby Player doesn't have a number, or name, printing on the back. That way we can make a whole team.

All this pizza talk is fine and all but Stromboli / Calzone are better.

Has anyone figured out any kind of pattern for when and what hits the BAM towers from the CMF line? Someone a bit higher commented about picking up the faces from BAM and there are a few I want but don't care for the figures themselves. How about past patterns regarding availability and pricing on bricklink for CMF heads? Though that is such a volatile field with tons of local variables.

Yeah, I'm already thinking about what other heads to get for variations in injuries...

I hope that Johnny Thunder has back printing, though his backpack seems to indicate that he may not.

I doubt it very much. It’s a new colour though :excited:

Ok my final thoughts now with the official reveal pics

1. Gamer - I like all the torso easter eggs, but I agree it almost looks like he is wearing a pajama. This one could have been a female, because we don't have yet a long hair + headphones combo. The controllor looks ok. Like the hair and the face print 5/10

2. Shower Guy - Nice one. The duckling could have been yellow. Like the facial expressions. Not sure why he has white shorts under the towel. Only white hips could have been enough. 7/10

3. Ghostly Knight - Contender for best one in the series. Armor is great, shield is great, face is great. Plume and sword are cool as well. Wish he had double face  8/10

4. Monkey King - Very weird looking character. That grin is way too creepy. I guess I'm just unfamiliar with chinese lore   5/10

5. Robotics Engineer - Contender for worst in the series. Could have been in a City/people pack set. I find her plain and boring   1/10

6. Mummy Lady - Contender for best one in the series. Both faces are great. Though the one with the real face is a bit silly. All her printing is amazing. Love her!   8/10

7. Adventurer - I'm glad they brought him back. His accesory is kind of a let down. I would like something more Adventurers-like. Maybe the red gem and the solar disc?   7/10

8. Firefighter - She looks ok. These cap+hair combos have been appearing in City sets so, again she looks like a City set minifigure.   5/10

9. Dog Sitter - I'm surprised on how many pieces this minifigure has. 2 dogs, 2 pieces of crap, and a shovel is A LOT. The dogs look great. The minifigure itself is ok. Better than the Robotics Engineer and the Firefighter  7/10

10. Pizza Guy - He looks cool. Very predictable after the Watermelon Guy. Im not sure if I like the face, but the 2x3 tile is great.  6/10

11. Bounty Hunter - Contender for best one in the series! His printing is super. That armor and helmet look great together!  I wish the minifigure on the board was a known character and not just a random LEGO guy smiling. Maybe the S7 Galaxy Patrol or the S6 Intergalatic Girl or the S1 Spaceman could have been these.  8/10

12. Retiree - Contender for worst in the series. Other than the flamingo I think she chould have been on any City set. I find her plain and boring   2/10

13. Rugby Player - An ok character I guess. I'm glad to see they are includind more non-traditional sports on these. Rubgy Ball is totally going to be reused for anoter American Football Player  5/10

14. Fox Suit Girl - Contender for best one in the series! What can I say? Love her! Her accesories are wonderful!  8/10

15. Rainbow Bear - I kind of like him better now. The best are this accesories for sure. I still find the mask creepy  6/10

16. BMX Biker - This minifigure is exciting because this means now they can make a Centaur. There are no more excuses for that. Other than that, she is kind of ok. Her color are great. And the helmet+hair will be very useful The bike steals the show!  7/10

Overall this series in like near to the bottom in my rank. Not sure where yet, but bottom 3 for sure. I'd say this series is a 6/10 for me, which is kind of unfortunate because I've been waiting more than 2 years for this. I wish I could say I like it more than what I do. Of course I'll get the 16 to support the regular series. Maybe even some extra Bounty Hunters and Ghostly Knights

Johnny Thunder. Will be feeling the bags to find 'im as soon as they hit the stores. May need to pick up a mummy to further the 'Adventurers' theme. I guess this is the closest we're gonna get to an Adventurers redux with Johnny Thunder himself so let's take it.

It's nice to see more original minifigs after all this time. I still liked the licensed CMF's, don't get me wrong, but some variety is always welcome.

I can't wait to get my hands on the mummy, the monkey king, the adventurer and especially the black knight (clearly inspired by GOT but I'm thinking that armour might be perfect for a vampire warlord) and the bounty hunter. That last one made me realize that helmet could be a decent base for an Arkham Knight minifig too.

I think the knight is inspired from the old classic castles sets and the fright knights.

Oh yeah, the emblem on the shield definitely is a nod to that but back in the day, those knights were typically regular humans (and a witch) with cool helmets. This possessed/reanimated knight in rusty armor wielding an ice sword really screams GOT to me.

To be honest I’ve never watched it. But I have seen clips and images from it. :shrug_confused:

Eh, it starts out strongly but ends pretty poorly and in a rush. It has some great moments but looking back at that last couple of seasons, a lot of people would probably advise you to not even bother.

Still the whole undead-looking knight + ice combo made me think of that.

Oh my gosh! The clear pictures make them look better. My favorites are the Monkey King, Mummy Lady, Adventurer, Pizza Guy, Bounty Hunter, and Fox Suit Girl. But overall, each figure in the series have enough interesting pieces for me where I'll get at least one of each...

The Biker makes me want to make a female version of the Skydiver. Or just the Skydiver with a cool 'do.

Why are most of the Dog Sitter renders missing the poop piece?

It will be simple to make a minifigure sized teddy from this character. Even leaving it as it is. Or if you don't like the tiny bits of yellow that show through the eyes, stick a black head on it under the headgear and it can have plain button eyes.

I certainly plan to leave him as is, since the yellow is bearly noticeable. But using a plain black head sounds intriguing enough to try myself!

The Programmer has a jacket tied around her waist.

Looking at the renders, I'm concerned how this effect will look on the physical figure, since the top half appears to be dark gray printed over red to simulate the flannel shirt covering her backside...

Also do we know what the face print of the bounty hunter is.

I’m betting it’s that leaked head with the face mask that was talked about a little while back.

There are two shows.
When Benioff and Weiss follow the books: it's a books adaptation done quite well and a very great show.
When the books were over and Benioff and Weiss invented the story from scratch (basically after who-you-know's death): a crappy show with poor ideas.

I'll share my thoughts like @Robert8 did after the HiRes pictures:

Gamer guy. 5/10 - Unsure wheter I like the shirt or not, I like always the nods to older stuff (M-Tron, Blacktron and Classic Space). The tile is nice... but way too big to represent an actual game. a 1x2 tile should have been used. I don't like the green color for hair at all. The gamepad looks cool and raises alone my opinion on this one minifig.

Shower guy. 3/10 - Very odd choice for accessories (if you take a bath I can understand the duckling but why with the shower?) and bizarre choice to make him wear underwear under the towel. No new molds for this one, so it's a pretty lame and boring minifigure with no new accessories.

Ghost/Vampire Knight 9/10 - Simply stunning. No new accessories and that's the only reason it doesn't get a 10, but the decision to print the torso with a new unique pattern is super cool. Have a lot of potential use.

Monkey King 6/10 - Nice idea but now that I see him better, I don't like how it come out too much. Two things bother me much: the use of light flesh and the Ruyi Jingu Bang is poorly represented because of the cheap use of the lightsaber hilts.

Robot Programmer. 2/10 - Very boring minifigure that could have found better use in a normal city set. Only thing nice is the word LEGO written in binary on her shirt.

Mummy 7/10 - Very nice minifigure but again no new molds and the scorpion looks a cheap decision for an accessory where an ankhed staff would have been perfect.

Johnny Thunder 6/10 - I side with @Robert8 in saying that the accessory is quite cheap, but the minifigure overall looks ok to me. The chameleon looks good. Nothing execeptional.

Firefighter 1/10 - I bet the only reason they did this minifigure is because they pretty represented any city minifigure they've done through the years in this series BUT a firefighter. So I guess one spot should have been taken sooner or later. But I fail to side this minifigure to the CMF series instead of the city theme. Really.

Dog Walker 5/10 - Here i have to split my judgement. The minifigure would deserve a 2/10 and the accessories a 8/10 so I did a mathematical average. The minifigure has the same flaw that have many of this series: it's just a city minifigure. The dogs on the other hand are cool and the poop is nice.

Pizza Costume Guy 3/10 - I thought they were going to do a Pizza Costume Guy sooner or later, but this one is really lame. As an italian, I cannot like that kind of pizza.

Galactic bounty hunter - 7/10 to 9/10 - While waiting for the head to be revelead, the rest is very very nice. I really love this minifigure but I side with @Robert8 when he says that we should have had a known minifigure (like BRICK DADDY) on the tile.

Retiree 3/10 - The only thing that is interesting is the flamingo. It's like they wanted to do a Flamingo and they couldn't know what to side it.

Rugby Player 5/10 - I have no concerns about this minifigure, and the rugby ball it's ok, but the faces look a little odd (both of them).

Fox Costume Girl 6/10 - I like this minifigure only for the accessories because I don't like costumed characters. I think the outcome is quite ok.

Rainbow Bear 0/10 - This minifigure has no meaning to me.

Biker Girl 4/10 - The bike is quite ok, but for the rest, is again what I've already said: a pretty normal city minifigure that doesn't belong to this theme IMHO.

Overall 4.5 - One of the worst series, alas. The decision to include so many boring minifigures is a big letdown. At least a third of the minifigures could have easily fit classic city sets and it seems like they did this series something like they just had to. Which is very frustrating for someone loving this theme. In most cases these minifigures do not deserve the price increase that minifigures had since series 17 two years ago. Very few of these would compete with past series superstars like the Elf, the Hazmat guy, the Scarecrow or so on.

Long story short: none of these minifigures is really iconic (perhaps... Monkey King being an exception... maybe). I like the bounty hunter and the knight because they are appealing my own tastes, but I easily admit none of those two is quite iconic either. The series overall is underwhelming, I expected better.
