LOL, I don't know if I'm allowed to say this, but I have a review of the Rainbow Bear on my channel. If i'm not allowed to say that, sorry.

It is greatly appreciated! Do you also have the Spooky Knight and are planning to review it?

I think we can talk about it, but not post a direct link to it because they are leaks.

The Rainbow Bear does look slightly better here. Thanks for the review.

Thank you for watching it, Robert!

You should’ve placed the rainbow and heart just like the shirt on some bricks to show the similarity with the print.

For me, if i’ll get this one, i am going to use that shirt (and give it white arms) and reuse it for a minifig.

Btw @Brother From Another Brick Would you be so kind to upload the figs on the leaflet on your insta a bit better? So much more detail that way.

That blacktron bountyhunter looks now more menacing than i anticipated

This is highly wishful thinking, but in my continued fretting over the Johnny Thunder homage's seeming change in occupation, I had a thought...

What if this CMF was recontextualized from an Archaeologist/Adventurer to an Explorer/Biologist to avoid overlap with an upcoming in-house playtheme to be released next year within the vein of Adventurers? :purrr:

Nah.... i dont see how it would affect to give him a map or the red gem.

They dont have troubles with overlaps like that. On Series 8 they included an Alien Villainess to go with the Alien Conquest theme

Well, though we have yet to learn of this particular CMF's name, I'm pretty certain he won't be branded either an Adventurer nor an Archaeologist. But why? Is it quite simply that Lego wishes to reserve either archetype for future Series? :shrug_confused:

Sorry I won't reply.
Your arguments seem a bit biased and schoolmarmished to me.
I don't want to start a fight over the internet.

Brother From Another Brick's review of the knight is up. The big takeaways are that head is NOT trans-light blue, and that he comes with two swords as well as two plumes. Doesn't change my mind either way, but it does make me wish that the Bat  Lord helmet came something other than black or dark grey.

I gotta say I like it much better as just a blue tinted vampire than a trans color. And that is a beautiful chain mail torso!

Exactly. I have just the hair to put on him.

The head and hands of the 'ghost knight' look to be light aqua.

As a monochrome collector I have to agree with you. The arms became more readily available with Anna? in Disney 2 also. What colour do you think the colourful panda hands are? I was hoping for Dark Turquoise but after seeing Brother From Another Brick’s video it looks more like Dark Azure.

Thank you very much for the news! :classic:

I'm really disappointed that we don't get a normal (meaning "living") knight and that there is only one historical minifigure at all!

Plus I'm not interested in that space minifigure.

But apart from these two minifigs, this series is amazing - it includes so many well usuable minifigs with that great accessory!

I have to admit that I'm rather enthusiastic about the series. Fair amount of useful elements for my favourite MOC settings, medieval-fantasy and vintage explorers, even if there are few minifigs directly related to those themes.

For medieval-fantasy :
- I'm not really into ghosts or gloomy moods, but f
ollowing @Brother From Another Brick's review of the the Ghost Knight (thank you very much!), I'll definitely get at least one - if only for that gorgeous chainmail printed torso!
-
The Monkey King seems to feature beautifully printed elements as well. I'm eagerly waiting for high-res pictures and/or detailed reviews, but a priori those elements would be great for an elvish setting of some sort.
- I don't really care for the Dog Sitter herself, but a medieval village never has too many dogs! The tan bulldog from CMF 17 is my favourite LEGO dog, I'm really glad to see a recolor (the new one's expression looks less cute though). The poop element could be easily reused as well. The green shovel too, maybe even misused to build some sort of vegetation.
- Fox Girl is cute as a button even if she doesn't really fit in a medieval setting. But her sack and recolored chicken (it's tan, isnt' it?) definitely fit in and will be very welcome in my village.

For vintage explorers:
- Of course, I'll definitely get a handful of Johnny Thunders. I'm more into fleshies and the torso doesn't seem to feature any yellow skin, which is not the case with older torsoes from this theme. I'm wondering whether it has back print. The dual-molded legs and the backpack look very versatile. And that chameleon...is simply one of the cutest animals ever!
- The elements from the Monkey King that would not fit in a medieval-fantasy MOC would definitely fit in a vintage jungle one.
- Just like Dog Sitter, Flamingo Lady herself is of no interest to me. But her accessories do : those three-leaf stems are very useful for landscaping (and this one seems to be normal green), and the flamingo could be a fun colorful addition to a vintage, cartoonish tropical setting.

Is release date Aug 1st or Sep 1st?

Lego releases official renders around a month ahead of time usually. Thus Series 19 is most likely coming out September 1st, with Lego’s official announcement with high res images of all the figures coming sometime in the next week.

The past few series hasn’t been revealed a month before more like a weeks ahead unfortunately.

Thanks. So how do we explain the recent mid-July eBay sale of ghost knight and rainbow panda then? I could understand a couple of weeks pre-official release but not 6-7 weeks.

I still don’t understand why TLG never seem to want to capitalise on the kids being off school over August. CMF series are after all pocket money collectibles.

Not sure. The seller was US-based, but how he got them? As for the CMF release schedule, they drop them every four months, so September is just where the third series falls. I guess the spring series gets the summer time pocket money/impulse purchases. I could see a parent doing back-to-school shopping in August grabbing the kiddo some new CMFs to get them to stop grousing, though. CMFs are my main LEGO jam, so I'd buy a new series every three months, lol. On the topic of earlier series, my one Walmart sure has A LOT of TLM2 and Disney S.2 to clear out.

Honestly, from a marketing standpoint it's probably better to wait until kids are in school for pocket-money collectible toys - they're spending more time among peers to compare, trade, and influence each other.

I'm not sure I agree with this rationale. I mean, if you follow it to its eventual conclusion, then a LOT of past Collectible Minifigures (even popular ones among historic or sci-fi builders) could have been omitted on the same grounds:

  • the Spaceman, Robot, Space Alien, Space Villain, Alien Villainess, Evil Robot, Battle Mech, and Evil Mech could have appeared in then-current Space sets
  • the Forestman, Elf Warrior, Evil Dwarf, Frightening Knight, Heroic Knight, Forest Maiden could have appeared in then-current Castle sets
  • the Zombie Pirate could have appeared in then-current Pirates sets
  • the Mummy could have appeared in then-current Pharaoh's Quest sets
  • the Samurai Warrior, Kimono Girl, Samurai, and Evil Wizard could have appeared in then-current Ninjago sets
  • the Vampire Bat could have appeared in then-current Monster Fighters sets
  • Santa Claus, the Gingerbread Man, and the Holiday Elf could have appeared in then-current Winter Village or Seasonal sets.

I think the person you are replying to here is talking about what CMF should be. Not what it was in the past. He thinks it should be an opportunity to give us minifigs that don't fit in to other themes. To give us minifigs that already fit in current themes feels to him like a wasted opportunity.

Instead of writing a kneejerk screed against his opinion, why don't you give your opinion? What do you think CMF should be? I think we'd all rather hear that.

Also, few of your examples make sense. Forestmen would not have fit in to nearly any castle theme of the last 10 years. They've been mostly knights/soldiers and castles, and including a one-off Forestman would have been weird. Same for the elf warriors etc.

The CMF spacemen would not have fit in any way into any of the recent Space themes either. Pink Space Girl in Galaxy Squad? Nope. White Space Man in Space Police 3? Nope, there were no civilians, just cops and robbers.

And frankly, if someone at the time said "Man I wish Space Police had civilians" or "I wish castle had Forestmen and Elves", you'd have been right there telling them why they were wrong for wanting that.

  • The bare torso here seems to have a different physique than most of those we've had in sets before, which might make it useful for some purposes that the others might not have been.

  • The rubber duck and brush never came in these colors before.

  • The facial expression, with big grin and closed eyes, has only appeared on four figures: an Emmet Brickowski minifigure that has no eyebrows, a Crayon Girl minifigure that has lipstick, an Aaron Fox minifigure that has freckles and dark orange eyebrows, and a Queenie Goldstein minifigure that has lipstick, reddish brown eyebrows, and light nougat skin. A minifig head like this with black eyebrows and no lipstick has not previously existed.

  • And of course, these blind bags are not designed specifically for AFOLs who can purchase whatever parts they want on BrickLink even if they haven't been available in sets for years. They're also intended for kids and adults who might be more casual collectors.

Again you totally missed his point. I think he was laughing at that figure being ranked at the top spot of someone's list. Not that the figure sucked.

If the ability to build a particular subject yourself using retired parts were reason enough not to release it as a new set/figure, then we wouldn't see nearly so many people yearning for LEGO to bring back Castle, Forestmen, Classic Space, Blacktron, Adventurers, Pirates, Islanders, Wild West, etc.

Don't you always write a five page thesis in response to those comments telling them how they're wrong for wanting those things?

  1. Language is descriptive, not prescriptive. If enough people use a word with a particular meaning, it becomes a meaning of that word in their language even if it's not a meaning of that word in the language they derived it from.

Just look at how many medical and scientific terms come from Latin or Greek, but have different meanings in medicine and science than they did to the original speakers of those languages. "Coccyx" in Greek meant "cuckoo", but in medicine refers to the tailbone. "Bicps" in Latin meant "two headed", but in medicine it refers to an arm muscle.

Words gaining new and different meanings as they are adopted by new groups of speakers, new languages, or new contexts is not only normal but common, and has been happening constantly and throughout history. It's not a big deal.

Again you totally missed the point. He was saying the pepperoni should be embossed. Have texture. Stick out a little bit. You got hung up on his parenthetical aside.

I kinda think he has the right to think that about the pepperoni, and I think arguing against his preference to "prove him wrong" would be super weird

But Aanchir, I would like to hear your opinion. Which CMFs do you like? Which do you think could be better? How?

Because I absolutely promise you, having opinions and sharing them is more fun that trying to demolish other's opinions.
