Brickmaster Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 (edited) Like whoah. I heard nothing of this. I wonder how sturdy he will be, and if he'll be any good for playing. The lightsabers, unless there's bars in there to support, will be very weak. I'll take a gander at the instructions. Surprised me. Edit: Bummer. He's cemented to the showcase thing. Probably skip this set then. Edited April 8, 2008 by Brickmaster Quote
mammymarf Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 X-O X-O X-O Oh my gosh! thank you so much for finding this whung THANK YOU!!! the lightsabers look X-O I simply *wub* him! -mammymarf- Quote
darkrebellion Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 Wow, such a piece of beauty :'-) . I think it would be just like the UCS AT-ST in price and box. Quote
hollisbrick Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 Woah that is kool! X-O But it's detailed...to detailed :-P which probably means it will cost heaps, thanks for the photoes btw *sweet* Quote
Svelte Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 (edited) Great find. At first glance I didn't think I'd get this as I also don't usually bother outside of minifig scale, but looking through the instructions there's so many nice parts and details - I especially love the method of making Grievous' fleshy heart *wub*. Not too many technicy parts either so a great parts pack for system builders. As always, it will depend on price in the end. Edited April 8, 2008 by svelte_corps Quote
Corvus Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 ... YAHOO! That's great. I'm so glad that TLC brought back the models... Sure, this thing has a few flaws, but not enough to stop me getting it. This is going to look great on a shelf. Quote
iamded Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 (edited) That looks sweet! I've been waiting for this for so long! It even has his organs! :-D That looks wicked cool, thanks Whung! Looking-through-the-instructions-to-get-a-better-idea-about-how-this-thing-is-built ON! :-P ~Peace EDIT: Wow, that is neat! They really put some thought into the feet construction. Not even half way through the first instruction book and I'm impressed with how they've done the base and feet. I really want this, but I get the feeling the price will have the same impact the Giant Castle Chess set's one had. :-/ EDIT: And clever use of the Jedi hood piece and minifig Barraki spines for organs! *y* to TLC! Ras 74 Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 From the first look of it, I like it! Offcourse the price is the biggest question on this one. Buy Sets From America ON! -Ras- Quote
snefroe Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 hmmm.... sure it's better than the old sets of the type, but i wouldn't say it's great... i feel that many sw fans can easily produce this too... not on my "to buy" list... Quote
Oky Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 (edited) *oh3* Pulse rising... *sick* Breath running out... *wacko* conscious fading... (Thud) *tongue* O-M-G! YES! FINALLY! Thank you soooooooooooooooo much! This is great! I'll be getting this bad boy as soon as I can and at whatever cost! Big G rulez! *wub* OK, after recovering from the excitement of seeing the instructions for my most anticipated Lego set ever, I wanna tell you my thoughts about it! The detail and seemingly solid build of this puppy are amazing! I love his heart, and the head and the legs are pretty good as well! The turning platform/stand with the name tag is just freakin sweet! *thumbup* There are still some things that bug me, though. I have to admit that I am pretty bummed by the immoblity of the arms! They are always at the same height. The upper pair have turning elbows in a set angle, but the lower pair only features twistable forearms! And about the connectivity of the arms: I was of course hoping for TLC to come up with some ingenious technique to connect the split arms, perhaps even in a still posable way, but what did they do? They included an extra pair of shoulder pads as an exchange for the secondary pair of arms! I think, Ill be doing some serious moding here. *hmpf_bad* Not cool, Lego... *thumbdown* Also, the chest plates and that thing around his neck look odd in these pics, but I hope they look better in real life. *look* And dont't hate me for saying this, but I was hoping for a bionicle style mask for the head with printed or sticker eyes and, although they did a pretty good job on his face, I am still not sure if I wouldn't prefer that. *blush* But, heck, he is General Grievous, and he looks good, and that's all that matters!!! *wink* UCS GG & more new pics SO FREAKIN ON!!! *grin* Edited April 9, 2008 by Oky Wan Kenobi Quote
captaintau Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Excellent. I haven't got a UCS set yet (unless you count Cloud City and the Sandcrawler). This will most definately be my first. Quote
Lord Of Pies Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Wow, it looks much better than I thought it would, it looks great, very sinister looking, and I hope it is posable!! Quote
xwingyoda Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 I was looking at the instructions again and I have to say that his organs are really cool and is a great plus in that set !! Sure they took the idea from the new Bionicle (whatever the name of those are *tongue* ) but it still looks great !! The thing I think was really not well conceived os the arms systems, they don't join and that sucks big time. So if you want the General with 2 arms you have to dismantle the 2 others !! How retarded is that ? And the 2 arms do look way too thin... I'm thinking the price tag to be at least 150€ with a lot more parts than we think *sceptic* Well, I dunno. the lightsabers are just 1x1 round bricks 8-| nothing really special... Sure doc but those still look cool !! Too bad they didn't have an all glow in the dark one. And too bad we didn't get his blaster as well, the one he was shot with *laugh* (G I'm tired of having those smileys always changing place...) What? Green Grocer dying? X-O Where did you get that? ;-) GG ON! *grin* Yeay bloody acronyms with different meanings loool But the real GG is revious you know *devil* *yoda* Quote
Siegfried Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Oh this is great! *wub* Thanks Whung.... In addition to it : ...and thank you aayla-secura! Oddly I was 90% sure that it was going to be a bust like Darth Maul. *blush* This is much better! Excellent. I haven't got a UCS set yet (unless you count Cloud City and the Sandcrawler). This will most definately be my first. Well they aren't UCS but both are great sets! *wub* Quote
Trudop561 Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Nice, NICE general grievous! He has four lightsabers (composed of 1x1 triangle plates) and he can move them well (not like the minifig). I don't know if his two arms of each side can "attach" to form one arm but I think we'll soon have more pics. The body is perfect, we can see his organs made with green plates inside of him. But my favorite part are the legs *wub* They are not like the normal droid legs that can't move. They also have put him claws! Finally, I give him a 10/10 Quote
trooperdavinfelth Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Wow, this is one nice set! I was a fan of the SW articulated statues like Vader and the Stormtrooper, but this one is an instant buy... Can't wait to see more as I look at the instructions... *cry_happy* Quote
jamie75 Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 The GG model looks so sweet! Hopefully around $100. Can't wait for this to hit stores, or at least S@H. Very cool looking set, IMO!! But, look here. Nothing compared to GG, but, still cool to see some more new sets. LINK When you scroll down to the bottom of the list you will se the 8029, Snowspeeder and new 8028, TIE. No DS, but, still promising, non the less!! Jamie Quote

sam89 Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 I've made three hi-res pics, which I've edited into the first post: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/sam89/20...l_grievious.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/sam89/20...grievious_2.jpg http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/sam89/20...grievious_3.jpg Quote
trooperdavinfelth Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Looking good, Sam! *thumbup* Can't wait to see more of this bad boy, hopefully in the upcoming lesser off-to-the-side toyfairs! *oh* I have one question, though: It appears that the fig's feet are built onto the stand. Does this mean he's just a statue? *cry_sad* I sure hope not, and I sure hope more statuesarticulated 1/6th scale Lego figures come soon! *sing* Quote
Pate-keetongu Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 *wub* *wub* *wub* *wub* I love it! best set for 2008! I will get it if i´'s not overprized..... large figures on! Quote
KimT Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Why oh why do they pester us with these stinky technic sets? Didn't they learn the lesson when trying to sell us the loathsome droids and darth technic sets? That is one SW set I'll never buy. Yes I collect SW sets, but that one does NOT count. 0/10 points and *thumbdown* *thumbdown* *thumbdown* KimT *sick* *sick* *sick* *sick* Quote
Andrex Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Aaah, I wasn't going to buy anything this year. Now I'm tempted O.O that is awesome. Plus, it's not really Technic at all. Most, if not all, the pieces are normal Lego Bricks. And considering that, it's certainly well put together! -- Andrex Quote
