Skipper 24 Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 *thumbdown* this looks completly rubbish compared to the other sets released previously like this of one charcter. 1 mad completly out of technic would probably look much better Quote
sam89 Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Pepa Quin from FBTB built one himself using the instructions: http://flickr.com/photos/pepa_quin/2399843781/ A few pieces are the wrong colour, but it looks pretty good. Quote
mutley777 Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Bloody Hell!! I don't log on for a day and i miss this news *hmpf_bad* . I have got to say i am quite impressed. Much better than i thought he would be and as i also never liked the technic sets i don't think this looks like a technic model. A good job TLC *thumbup* Quote
Pencoin Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 has anyone noticed that its uses a red indy hat for the heart? Quote
BrickBob Studpants Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 @ Pencoin: I'm afraid I have to disappoint you, it's just a reddish brown hood. You can see it in the online instructions (the link was posted on page 1). *wink* Quote
BerndDasBrot Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 (edited) First impression: Oh a new bionicle set. (Yes, small pic) *click* Then: Wow! *thumbup* @ KimT: this is not (really) Technic. (Compared to Darth Vader and his Technic Star Wars fellows.) Just a few Technic Parts to keep it from falling apart. The most of it is (kind of) hidden too. Begone, Technic hater! *tongue* Edited April 9, 2008 by BerndDasBrot Quote
Oky Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 has anyone noticed that its uses a red indy hat for the heart? Isn't it a jedi hood? Quote
Zarkan Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 GG dying like a sissy On !! WHAT?! How dare you insult gracious greebling! *angry* And you call yourself a lego builder.... *tongue* Anyway, this kit is awesome, seriously. Awesome design, lots of detail, tons of moveable joints - and of course, awesome lightsabers! Yet another kit I'll be adding to the list of "things that Grevious wants but can not get." *hmpf_bad* *tongue* Why oh why do they pester us with these stinky technic sets?Didn't they learn the lesson when trying to sell us the loathsome droids and darth technic sets? That is one SW set I'll never buy. Yes I collect SW sets, but that one does NOT count. 0/10 points and Okay, first of all, this is not a technic set. I'd say 75 percent of it is system parts, with only a quarter being technic. Second, what's wrong with those starwars technic sets? They were really well designed and had lots of great parts! Or, do you just not like technic at all? In that case, I'm sure someone here is not going to be happy with you.... *tongue* Quote
commandosevy Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 I'm not that much of a technic fan but.... this would change me to a system+technic fan!!! well the set looks cool but really big...... and a new "technic" set is a good idea! If it has c 700 pieces then..... I'll buy it when I have the money. *thumbup* *thumbup* Quote
Icesaber Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 It looks nice, better than I thought it would be. I would like to get it, but probably don't have the money to spare. Quote
Chuck Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 Now that I've had time to settle down and think a bit...I'm kind of bummed he doesn't seem to have a cape. I guess it'll be straight-up action poses out of that until I can convince the Wife to work me up one ;-) Yeah, I kinda expected him to have a cape too. Maybe something similar to the cape that Technic Vader had. A few other minor nitpicks i have is that the arms don't join together (Form over function, I guess) and that it doesn't come with a blaster. I would have thought it might come with a blaster, maybe even an energy staff. While the model itself looks good, if I do end up buying it, it will probably be for the parts. -Chuck Quote
jayber1974 Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 thank you whung great pictures. This set looks great, but it's not for me. I prefer minifig scale! I must say, for some reason, GG's face reminds me of the new space skull set *wacko* *blush* I will leave this set on the shelf for a true GG fan! Quote
trooperdavinfelth Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 To clarify for the last time, as someone up there said, it's a dark red hood. *sweet* TLC wouldn't put something like an Indy hat in a SW set; they need so many in the line itself! *wink* Quote
Vaders_son Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 Hey! I have to admit that I don't like the sets that are not of minifig scale too much - but GG here doesn't look that bad *thumbup* . Best thing to say about it is that there isn't too much of technic in it - I feel the Vader, Stormie and Droid sets just looked like crap. They reminded me more of skeletons than of a full LEGO set. I don't think I'll get it but it's a nice set. *classic* Benny Quote
Shadows Posted April 10, 2008 Posted April 10, 2008 To clarify for the last time, as someone up there said, it's a dark red hood. *sweet* Here's to hoping it isn't just reddish brown and deceptive in the instructions... It's about the only positive to the set, for me. I just don't like it except for parts, and that would be a nice one to get. Grievous Dismemberment On! *thumbup* Quote

Legoman Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 i read this on FBTB and so totally aggree so am posting it here.Wouldnt it be great and totaly awsome if lego released a similar set of a magna gard.they would be mint standing next to each other. Quote
Asuka Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 A very good rendering and a beautiful and solid model for sure. *thumbup* Although it´s obliviously not a play set, some proper arm movement and a nice split feature would´ve been nice. But anyways, it should be an interesting venture to MOD that pretty baby, perhaps with some Bionicle ball joints.... *look* Quote
Faramir Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=312871 Not to burst any bubbles, but if you look here it looks reddish-brown. Thanks for this link, too. Then again, it does say that some colors may be different, so... there's a chance for hope! <Faramir Quote
PSPguy Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=312871 Somehow I knew someone would do this. Quote
