Vaders_son Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 Have you noticed that on the box-art GGs feet are free of the stupid baseplate? That's good news I feel Benny Quote
yellost Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 Have you noticed that on the box-art GGs feet are free of the stupid baseplate? That's good news I feel Benny Well, considering they're in the exact same position than when he's on the base plate, I'd say it's only Photoshop working it's magic for the benefit of the box art. Same way they didn't show the stand of the UCS ISD on the box either... Actually, I'm quite disappointed by that box art : it looks like the integration of the model with the background has been done in five minutes top. No thought seems to have been put in making the pic. The model takes way too much space so the pic gives me a bit of a claustrophobic feeling and the feet and hands are too close to the sides of the frame. there's no composition to it whatsoever... I hope it's only preliminary but somehow I doubt it... But then again, I don't buy my LEGO to admire the boxart, since those go straight to the big pile with the others and I only look at them with an annoyed eye for the space they take in my room And I really like that model. sam89 Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 Ace posted this on FBTB: You may have seen some pics, but I just got the official word about this set. 10186 General Grievous weighs in at 1,086 pcs and will cost you $89.99. It seems to me it would actually fit in quite naturally with the large-scale Technic figures from a few years ago, but is more of a hybrid between that and regular System parts. It is a Shop@Home exclusive and you'll be able to order the set from LEGO Shop@Home starting May 1, 2008. Click the image for an ultra-high rez version. Click below for a VERY hi-res photo: http://www.fbtb.net/sets/10186/10186_box.jpg Quote
mutley777 Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 Thanks for the news sam. Well the republic cruiser is $89.99 so we could be looking at a Uk price of £70 . I was hoping it might be cheaper. Quote
darkrebellion Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 (edited) Thanks Sam for the news . It is just a fantastic statue the thing that surprise me is that we know when its put into market just one day before that happen . Edited April 29, 2008 by darkrebellion Quote

Derek Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 Don't forget that this thing is about 20 inches high! That's what she said. Sorry, I had to! Quote
mutley777 Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 Don't forget that this thing is about 20 inches high! True, but this has the same kind of part count as the UCS AT-ST and that started at £70 but went down to the much better £60 which was what i paid . Quote
The Kid Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 True, but this has the same kind of part count as the UCS AT-ST and that started at £70 but went down to the much better £60 which was what i paid . ...and the UCS AT-ST has been on sale for £29.99 at some places (AFAIK) for some time if this ends up on sale at that price I'll buy it, but at £70 it's a no-no. simonjedi Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 http://www.fbtb.net/sets/10186/10186_box.jpg thats rather purdy Quote
Vaders_son Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 what's *purdy*? simonjedi? Didn't find it in my dictionary Benny Quote
darkrebellion Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 I think he means poorly or something like so. Quote
Vaders_son Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Ah, ok that I understand, thank you darkrebellion Quote
Christian Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Just wanted to point out that this set is now available through S@H. Link Quote
Vaders_son Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Thanks for the heads-up Christian, but Wow 89,99€! That's too much for me. Better safe some little more € and get an RGS or something Benny Quote
Big Pete Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 £65 in the UK ... hmmm ... seems overpriced to me! I might wait it out and see if it drops in price. Quote
Oky Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 (edited) Just wanted to point out that this set is now available through S@H. Link SAY WHAAAT?! OMG, I didn't know it would come out this early; I thought it would be out around Christmas or something, as it was not even shown at Toy Fair or anything! This is jaw-droppingly awesome - I don't care how much it is, I have to have it! - but I am not ready for it yet! I am broke at the moment, and there are still BPs and Castle & Indy sets to be bought! So, nothing to do but to wait... Maybe I'll even wait fo the price to drop... james dofine Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 i have seen it today in a lego store (germany) but i did not wanted to buy it because i kinda dislike ucs sets Quote
Plural Posted May 2, 2008 Posted May 2, 2008 what's *purdy*? simonjedi? Didn't find it in my dictionary Benny He means "pretty" actually. And as for the set £65 doesn't seem that bad to me. I was expecting it to cost more. Quote
Vaders_son Posted May 3, 2008 Posted May 3, 2008 Oh, now "pretty" is something completely different But thanks to you now for setting this clear If you look at the number of parts, the price might seem ok, but I'd rather like to get a good set like an RGS instead of a *kind-of-boring-appearing-GG-statue Best regards, Benny Quote
darkrebellion Posted May 3, 2008 Posted May 3, 2008 (edited) Oh sorry I understand "poorly" , now "pretty" make of that a positive comment . Edited May 3, 2008 by darkrebellion Quote
Vaders_son Posted May 3, 2008 Posted May 3, 2008 We'll that doesn't look too bad, though still not worth 89.99€ in my eyes. Somehow he looks better to me with less light (last picture) Thanks for the pictures Hotshot Benny Quote
