Navy Trooper Fenson Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 The movie will come out on May 22 in every county, except for France, Belgium, Egypt, Morocco, Bulgaria, Finland, Iceland, Italy, Latvika, Turkey and Japan. Is that so much hard? Quote
captmaarek Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 I'm going to toss this out as a guess, but the Japan TRU site states it's available on 6/20/08. The movie opens 6/21/08 in Japan. I believe the US release for this set similarly might be a day or week before the release of the move making it 5/21 or the week of, if the release of the movie in Japan and the toy's release date listed on their site are accurate. This set being a TRU Exclusive... will S@H or Lego stores be carrying it, too? I'm asking because in the past, I've seen TRU Exclusive sets being available in Lego stores. Maybe, yes, no... wishful thinking? Quote

Maybe, yes, no... wishful thinking? yes I think LEGO Stores will carry it, there are specific images of the product on LEGO.com in the cache pages so I think S@H will sell it as well as probably the retail stores, but I was only speculating that it's release date would be much much closer to the movie premier as it is in Japan. captmaarek Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 I was over at the Cartoon network Cartoon Network LEGO Indy Site and if you click on Toy's there is the Peril in Peru, no date is listed that I can see however :( Also they have some amusing cartoons there too. Quote

I receive my Toyfare Magazine #131 today and on Page 22 are pictures of the upcoming StarWars Lego Sets - AT-TE Walker, Magnaguard Starfighter, V-19 Torrent and the Indiana Jones TRU Exclusive - Peril In Peru set. Here is what it says: INDIANA JONES & CLONE WARS By Lego Release Date: July/August It's a good time to be LEGO George Lucas, with LEGO sets of both Clone Wars and Indiana Jones swinging into stores. (Yada-yada-yada...) The Indiana Jones "Peril In Peru" set which brings a scene from Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull to life, will debut on July 1 exclusively at Toys R' Us and on LEGO.com. Isn't that too late since the movie is being shown this Thursday in the US? That's like 5+ weeks more of waiting... Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 Great news! Thanks for sharing. I hope to see it at my local TRU. Quote

Yes it does and the Japan TRU site just went from 6/30/08 as a release date to 6/13/08. It'd make more sense to be June then July, but who knows. At least we know it should be within the next two months. Quote
DJ Force Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 The Indiana Jones "Peril In Peru" set which brings a scene from Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull to life, (...) I just came home from the cinema. I watched carefully, but I couldn´t find a scene like that in the film. Also, this strange and oh-so-important sword-holder featured in so many sets wasn´t in the movie, too. Strange. I sense a directors cut Or just a way to make more money with a plane and some stuff instead of just offering it in the city theme. Quote

In a millisecond during the trailer, you can make out a grey plane with a tiny bit of yellow. Is this how they were transported? And by the way, I can't wait for the movie! Despite mixed reviews, I actually like it and it will probably become an 8 instead of 7's and 6's. I wish people would stop dissing it in reviews, it ruins the whole feeling sometimes, you know? I try not to make a big deal out of only liking movies that are great, but my min. requirement for a favourite movie is an 8. This can't beat the Shining, but it COULD become a favourite Indiana Jones if it's that good... Seeing it Friday probably. Edited May 22, 2008 by sdpirate Quote
Ogel111 Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 This Set looks awsome even if it's not in the movie very much! Quote
The Kid Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but this set is on the TRU UK website, clocking in at £39.99: http://www.toysrus.co.uk/Product.aspx/TruO...anaJones/455172 TK Quote
Cardinal Brick Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Thanks for the heads up TheKid I must start keeping an eye out form now on. I think it looks a great set I just love the classic plane look. Quote

And imo it's terrible, an Indiana Jones adventure it ain't. Still, I too was surprised this set wasn't in the film, the plane is just the plane he takes to other countries with the red line map part, no "peril in peru" at all! Batbrick Away! Quote

Oh, no peril at all? So Lego once again has given people the wrong idea about a movie? This is like the Turbo Tank all over again! Quote
LEGOMAN132 Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 "So Lego once again has given people the wrong idea about a movie?" I don’t think that is their intention at all I think they just want kids to use there imaginations instead of acting the movie out. You know? But it is kind of annoying haha Quote
Siegfried Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 I don’t think that is their intention at all I think they just want kids to use there imaginations instead of acting the movie out. You know? But it is kind of annoying haha Actually I think they just pick a few things that they think will make good sets, regardless of actual importance to the story. I don't think they intend to give the wrong idea though. But that's just my opinion... Quote
captmaarek Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 I agree with Sinner, and looking at it standing back, a Airplane opens up a lot of possibilities, and you could make up your own version of how the Movie should go; while it's not a "Studio" set line we all know it's comes loosely from the Movie. So why not make your own adventure, change the story. I mean thats what LEGO is about Imagination. I can't wait till the set hits the shelves in the US! Also Can't wait till I'm out of work and can see the movie! Quote
tedbeard Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 (edited) But it is kind of annoying haha Talk about looking a gift horse in the mouth! We are presented with possibly the best LEGO plane ever and people are upset because in the film it only appeared for a short time? They give us an accompanying baggage cart, stairs and tractor which did not appear but make sense as accessories but you would rather not have them? The silly sword rack... well so it replaced the suitcase full of swords, who cares! We got more edged weapons with it than any recent castle set of similar size and what a cool selection! Three cutlasses, two grey knives (my fave), a classic-style broadsword and a gold katana! They could have just included a suitcase like in the movie and not bothered giving us extra weapons. Would that have been better? I suppose we are all gonna throw away the new dark green crocodiles because they weren't in the film? Sheesh! Frankly I am glad the sets are not slavish reproductions of the scenes in the film. We are getting cool parts and isn't that what it is all about! Actually I take it all back, you guys are right, nobody buy these sets...and I can scoop up lots of cool elements when the sets are remaindered...oops better stop typing diabolical thoughts in head... I do wonder if Lego was walked through an early cut or a storyboards and chose to make their sets from that, and then later found out that a number of scenes had been cut from the film of thing’s they made sets of. Regardless it great that Lego have made this set. Quote

It was clearly suposed to represent that case where Spalko carried all of her ancient swords!!! It was that little black case, yellow inside (I jut watched it, for the second time! ) with swords in it. It wasn't like super accurate, but the cocnept was clear. Quote
Dovchenko Posted May 24, 2008 Posted May 24, 2008 Indy was better than Speed Racer, but not worth seeing over and over IMHO. Too... weird. Quote
Chuck Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 Think about it this way, guys: The jungle cutter didn't have much screen time either. But it makes for a cool lego set, so they made it. You have to think about things in terms of playability and cost. Besides, all licensed sets are approved by the company they are licensed from, so they are also what Lucasfilm chose the sets to be. -Chuck Quote
