I'd like to share with you guys my ninjago diorama and shark army vehicles collections in order to receive your opinions and tips. As you may notice i modified most of the models and the modular buildings. I tried to make the mechs as "movie accurate" as possible but i also made some personal modification (like the simplified mecha crab cockpit without the harpoons and the stud shooters wich were very unstable in the original build and in my opinion they made that area a little too full and messy; or the little chainsaw arm on the piranha mech and posable legs and the raised control station on the shark mech and mecha crab ecc..).

So let me know what you think guys and let's keep this great thread alive!

Hello,

I know this is 4 years after your original post, but do you have any advice on how to build the mecha crab?

Many thanks

Hi guys, I am trying to build the Javelin from the Lego Movie 2. The Javelin is the spaceship of the Justice League which is used to get to the aliens. I mostly builded the outside of the Javelin. I just need to put it together but its too complicated for me. I need help putting it together. Can anyone help me? I will sent you the LXF of the ship if you decide to help me. Here is a 3d model video of the ship: https://kamalkbrowne.wixsite.com/3d-artist/video?wix-vod-video-id=011d6b54dfa54b96b36d199302948bae&wix-vod-comp-id=comp-k8qpip62

@GLAP23 I've been following this thread for a few years now, so impressed by everything made. Most of all with the Garma Mecha Man.Ever since watching the movie, I've had the goal of building it in real life, and finally with work I think I have the funds to do so.

I've looked at your bricksafe page plenty of times, but with Digital Designer out of commission I haven't been able to access the file that you have posted. Do you have any way that I could see all the parts of the file and your modeling techniques to use as a base reference for building it irl?

I know that the main mech is meant to be the dark silver/gun-metal gray color that LEGO has, but as practical none of the pieces used in the mech are made in that color, my plan was to just replace those with black when building.

I don't want to inconvenience you at all if getting to the file is too much of a hassle, but if at all possible I would really appreciate being able to work from your design. This is definitely a dream that I want to complete, but I don't think I'll be able to go for it if I have to build the whole thing from scratch.

@GLAP23 could you possibly share your 3D file for the custom tractor tire for the Quake Mech? I know a few pages back you said you made it. I made my own too, just want to compare if we got the same results. I have a friend at work with a 3D printer that can printer rubber material, and I'd like to try printing it out!

Thanks!

@Celtaxor Hello, Celtaxor. Thank you for the appreciation. Is it okay if I can give you a Bricklink Studio file? Studio is much more accessible. In fact, you can import LXF files into Studio.

Another thing, if you plan on building the Garma Mecha man in real life, keep in mind that a lot of parts are floating or colliding and will need to be changed to be plausible as a real life build.

@zweifuss Here is the download link to the tire, ripped directly from the game. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1WdWeNbW24JprgZoQJzDjtjWzjPPlERQY/view?usp=sharing

@GLAP23 Thank you! Can you believe you've been at this for 6 years now? Boy does time fly. I noticed the tire has a 'cheat' to fill in the space, they just filled in the circles on both sides instead of giving the tire inside structure, good for video games but not for real life. I will have to play around with the file a bit to get a real 3d printed piece, but you said the scaling is correct?

Thanks again, and hope to see your Ice Mech one of these years!

@GLAP23 I actually managed to open your Designer file on Bricklink Studio from what you have posted on Bricksafe... I've already finished recoloring the build to orderable parts, replacing the metallic gray with black and some of the exterior facing black pieces with Dark Blue. I've finished making building instructions for the feet and I'm working on the head now.

Also, I have definitely realized that working on the file. I recently built Ransom Fern's UCS Hulkbuster MOD, which is about 20 inches tall, and the amount of structure required in the legs to hold up the top half was definitely eye opening. This build being 3 feet is gonna be another level. I plan on ordering all the parts involved in the digital model, and building it as is, and then modifying it in person for all that needs to be done. I definitely have my work cut out for me, but it's coming along.

Hey! I think someone might've commented or asked this before, but I just kind of want to see if there's any hope of it coming to fruition. Will You ever remake the chair that Kai's mech sits on in the movie? Don't want to sound like I'm pushing you to do it, just a question.

Also, thanks to GLAP23's wonderful and flawless recreations, I've been able to import Kai's Fire Mech into blender and have mostly finished rigging it. Only parts that need work are the hydraulic/piston sections which is going to be frustrating to rig. The arms and legs are IK rigged, and the foot has a pretty advanced rig. I'm thinking of adding an IK/FK switch to both the arms and legs. The parts that are translucent/meant to light up have lights in them to imitate the lights as seen in the movie. I don't know if I'll add the decals for the parts as I'm not that good at materials, and editing and adding the decals onto parts is gonna be complicated. Hopefully this can go good though. Thank you GLAP23.

Had to compress the image a lot to get it to the correct file size, that's why it doesn't look good.

Did you use Mecabricks ?

Yeah, it's a very simple process. Although the large tire rim sections on the arms and the technic fork piece were not inside of mecabricks, so I had to import them from studio 2.0 via exporting as a .Dae file, then scaling them appropriately to match the proportions. If you do use mecabricks, you will most likely have to manually add some part since some parts were missing when imported into the program. The most notable one I seemed to find and have were the ball socket bricks. Also, I wouldn't really mess with the scale of the models since they are really bad, and scaling them down messes up their materials for the bricks.

I had a co-worker 3D print the Quake Mech tire for me, and mocked it up. Take a look!

Hello Everyone! I am proud to say that I have finally finished reconstructing and rigging the fire mech. It was a very long, annoying, frustrating, and grueling process, but I was able to get the job done. I am also happy to say that I will be releasing the file for Blender 4.0. Unfortunately, I won't be porting the model to other 3D programs, like Maya, 3DS Max, Source Filmmaker, etc. But, anyone who downloads the rig can port it to whatever program they want, just as long as they credit GLAP23 for the model, and me for the original rig. I don't care what you do with the model, just not any weird stuff, although I don't know how you would do that.

If anyone is having trouble importing the model, I will quickly guide you through it.

In the main workspace, click on file (located in the top left corner), then click append. Go to whatever folder you downloaded the file to, like downloads, double click on the "Fire Mech" model file, then double click on collections. Once you are in the collections tab, press "A" on your keyboard, then click append. The file might take some time to import, but this can vary due to your computers' hardware. After all of that is done, the file is yours to do with as you choose.

Have fun everyone!

Edit: I would also like to address, on the model, there are no parts with the decals or stickers that are seen in the movies. I can do this, but honestly I don't feel like it. You will also notice that there are no hoses or tubes that are again seen in the movie. I will most likely update these in the future, just not now, as this model has been causing me a lot of stress to finish. But rest assured, I will eventually update the model to have these features, just not yet or currently. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
