Thanks for the recs guys, I will probably find a way to build an alternative model with the whomping willow as I find it to be too wide for how empty it looks (I do want rooms for the teachers anyway)... or perhaps re-arrange the sections, I don't like the suggested GH + WW version by LEGO.

Laughing at Yule Harry and Cedric standing there by themselves awkwardly watching the others dancing ? I wonder why they didn't put them together (It would've been a fun move by TLG) I mean, Fleur + Ron? ? Anyway, not trying to start a debate here...

That amazon video really made the set interior look pretty dull, but at least the Yule Ball things and the minifigs make up for it.

If it makes any difference at all, the Whomping Willow set does look much nicer in person, pictures really don’t do it justice, it really is a nice set

If you're looking for suggestions, I combined the potions classroom and Snape's office (with an additional plate in between) to create a larger, more enclosed classroom. Then I put the tower section on top of that with the bottom floor (which is now the first floor) being the girl's bathroom, second floor is (a very poorly designed) Umbridge's office and the top remains as the the owlery. Then I just attached the bridge part to it and connected the build to my Staircase tower (I bought 2 GH sets and build both the hall and the tower as seperate, and much bigger, structures).

I hope I've given you enough information so you can kinda picture it. And if you can't (or anyone else) I wouldn't mind posting a few pictures in here

I’d love to see pics!

Sorry if this has already been addressed, but VP of Design for TLG tweeted that these sets will have an August 1 release date, and FBTB's news seems to have taken a cue from this, as they are the only website I've seen that references an August release date.

So is June 1 no longer the day to end all days at all?  Was it ever more than a rumor?  Did the release date get pushed forward?  Pushed back?  Someone please help me, because I'm confused.  Obviously, I'd prefer not to wait until August, but if that's the case, I'd still prefer to know so I can budget properly.

EDIT: In the comments, VP of Design at TLG admits he may have made an error about the release date.    We're probably good after all, but who knows?

August?!? Noooo! If that's the case I'm getting revenge by buying all 5 the same day! ?

I remember being mostly disappointed the day these pics came out, and now here I am more excited than ever before. Man I have issues.

Bless that man and his talented team.

June matches the timeline of official photo releases and leaks much more accurately than August. Given the 2 rumored August sets it’s probably just a mix up.

The release date is June 1st.

1. Various retailers listed it as "available from June".

2. They wouldn't officially reveal the sets more than three months before the release date.

3. We knew it from the beggining.

5 sets in June, 2 sets in August and 1 set in September.

To all those worrying about release date, I cannot speak for other countries, but in the UK the release is 100% June 1st, we’ve had the retail catalogue come in recently so we can start ordering the sets and they all say “not to be put on shelves prior to June 1st 2019”

Besides all of the above the press release lego send out themselves said the sets would release on june 1st.

I'll be getting to those Hogwarts MOC/MOD pictures sometime later today

Since you asked for it, here are some pictures of my Hogwarts. A few things to note:

- the Great Hall and Grand Staircase Tower were build with 2 of the GH sets

- Whomping Willow portion is modded with my own parts but mostly the same as the official build

- none of the buildings are supposed to be screenaccurate to the movies, they're a mixture of the movie designs and my own imagination/how I pictured said buildings in the books

Lol rip Rupert, everyone gets a tag but him :(

hehe, yeah, I noticed that, too.

I'm really sorry for the confusion, guys; I had asked at a local LEGO Store (fortunate enough to have FOUR in the Chicago area ) and they didn't know anything about release dates.  The employees had seen the pictures, of course, and we talked about the sets, briefly, but they thought any time from June to August.  Then I called LEGO Customer Service and they referred me to that tweet, so clearly the sets are just well under wraps, perhaps unnecessarily so, and people are apparently just unaware of what's going on.

So June 1 it is, I guess, and thank god.  :excited:

The Lego store employees not knowing anything makes sense - anytime I’ve talked to the people at my local store they’ve always said that they basically don’t know anything until we do or the sets arrive. Lego customer service should be giving out the official press release though, pointing you at an inaccurate tweet is just weird (but I guess that’s one of the reasons I’ve been going to the brick and mortar stores instead of online)

Thanks for the pics Guyon2002! It looks fantastic. I specially like how you extended the Great Hall and made it taller + added more tables.

I too had asked my local lego store employees and they told me they didn't know either, I remember them saying they get information about 3 weeks prior to official release.

Lego has already published an official press release, it says the releasedate is june 1st so we can just go with that

Just saw a picture of the minifigure and build for the Star Wars Build Your Own Adventure Book on Instagram. Fingers crossed that means the Harry Potter one will be revealed soon too.

I've been experimenting with some ways to improve the upcoming Horntail. I'm using the Thunderbird head as a stand-in and while I'm okay with the shape, it's just plain too small. To try to mitigate this I fanned some horns out behind the head. I've also started a thicker neck and tail, as well as some posable claws for the wings. Then I started working on some stands for the First Task. Photo here: First Task MOC

That’s looking pretty good! And I’ve got to agree with you, the biggest issue with the Horntail from the new set is either that the head is too small or the legs are too big. The proportions are all wonky. Yours is already looking more balanced.

Hey guys, I have a few questions:

Do you think they will sell the 2018 sets after the 2019 sets will be available?

Do you think they will add something to the Hogwarts castle?

And could there even be a 3rd year?

The new Harry Potter sets brought me back to Lego (after many many years when I was a child), I bought all of them besides The Great Hall and The Whomping Willow (but I will)  and I hope Lego will continue making Harry Potter sets in the future and maybe they will add more parts of hogwarts so we could connect more parts to have a big hogwarts castle (adding parts to the Great Hall, Whomping Willow and Clock Tower).

1) Yes sets usually have a shelf life of two years so I think they will continue to sell them till 2020

2) Highly doubt they will add another part to the D2C. I think that was supposed to be the be all, end all Hogwarts where the System scale one would be more modular and up to personal choice. If you are talking about System Scale then definitely yes. We got the Clocktower/Yule Ball this year, I think we will be getting the Astronomy Tower next year, probably featuring the Room Of Requirements, Umbridge’s Office, and Slug Club if I had to guess.

3) I think the chances of getting a third wave are pretty high. Like 90%. My main concern was getting the second wave and since we got that, I’m not worried till after they finish Year 4

Thank you very much for the answers!

1) Ok this is very nice, because I thought Lego wouldnt sell the old sets, now Im not in a hurry to buy the 2018 sets before the new sets will be available.

2) Sure, would be cool to add some parts to the Castle, even though I already love it.

3) Thats sound great, it would be really cool if we could connect all those parts and get a big hogwarts castle. I hope LEGO is working on something like this.

Maybe the Harry Potter sets will be a long lasting theme like Star Wars if it's financially attractive for LEGO.

As much as i love Harry Potter i find this hard to be a long lasting theme. After a couple more waves there wouldn't be much they could do that wouldn't be repeating previous years.
