Jawaguy4 Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 This is the picture of Buckbeak in the Back to Hogwarts book. Not sure if anybody has seen it yet on this forum (not my image from a fb group).
Koori Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 I've got that book and saw that too, its also shows Ginny weasly doing the expecto patronus spell.

Me too I was a little surprised that the thestral did not have the possibility, do not get me wrong it is a amazing mould! Maybe it cost more money since they need to make extra moulds for the hind legs and the head and they did not have the money to do that last year (this year it should be no problem with a fresh budget) or it is because of the big hole on the middle make it to fragile with moving parts

Thestrals are skeletal by definition, so they wouldn’t necessarily look good with the extra thickness needed for moving parts. The new thestral is still a vast improvement over the old ones - those were just horse skeletons with wings tacked on, I’m pretty sure they featured (and fit) more in the skeleton army of the contemporary fantasy medieval theme than they ever did in Harry Potter. In any case, the vast improvement in the thestral mold makes me really excited for how Buckbeak will turn out :) At the very least, his head needs to be articulated so he can ‘bow’ Edited March 2, 2019 by Accio Lego

I’m more interested in the rumors we’ll get Fudge as well - personally I’m hoping for another detail from the book getting snuck in and Lego giving him a lime green bowler hat. As for Buckbeak, well, the magical creatures are my favorite part of Harry Potter I wonder if they’ll make it so he can rear, the horse hind legs already exist after all. I love getting McNair, he only appeared in PoA in the movies (unless I just didn't notice him in others) but he did play a pretty decently sized role in the books 2 hours ago, Accio Lego said: In any case, the vast improvement in the thestral mold makes me really excited for how Buckbeak will turn out :) At the very least, his head needs to be articulated so he can ‘bow’ I hope they make Buckbeak similair to City's Panther and Leopard. Which would mean moveable backlegs, a moveable head and fixed frontlegs Edited March 2, 2019 by Guyon2002

Anyway, reason I quoted this, Macnair was in Goblet of Fire but literally only as a name for Voldemort to say as he’s scoulding his death eaters
LDDproductions Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 Even though it’s from the 4th book, I Hope Lego throws in a blast ended screwy for people who love the book
Seaber Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 MacNair is in the ministry battle in OotP. This list looks pretty good so far, hoping for a good calender and a CMS next year too! One thing at a time though :)

And it will be $49.99 US, as predicted. Thanks for the confirmation I hope they do Buckbeak justice, but judging by the quality of the previous creatures, that shouldn't be an issue
GilbertoAguilera101 Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 When are these sets rumored to release? April or June? also I’m really happy with this wave! Love the fact we’re getting the horntail, buck beak and Sirius, as well as the four champions and the stag, really nice! I think the only thing I’d be left wanting is a werewolf lupin, but given the nature of that character I don’t think a minifigure would cut it, I’d love to have something similar to the general grevious fig as far as the mold. Any thoughts?
LDDproductions Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 I also can’t wait to see if there is a retail exclusive that never gets a rumor but just comes up, maybe that’s the graveyard set... I don’t know.

Any thoughts? June 1st I believe. As for your other question, I think werewolf Lupin could easily be a normal figure. Lego will not create a fully new mold for him, probably just for his head

Firstly, what's up with the Knight Bus set? I get that it's going to be one of the cheaper sets but it's still odd that it only includes such minor characters. Even if they didn't want to include another figure, they could have added some extra value there by including a moulded figure of Sirius in his animagus form (from where Harry sees him on Magnolia Crescent, just before catching the Knight Bus). That way the set would have paired well with Expecto Patronum. Secondly, there's a serious lack of villains across the entire wave. The only non-creature villain we have is Macnair, a minor Death Eater. In the first wave we had Quirrell/Voldemort, the primary villain of the series. This wave just seems a bit lacking on that front. They definitely should have included Peter Pettigrew, who has a prominent role in both Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire, and could also have included Barty Crouch Jr or Karkaroff. A really great set that would have boosted villain numbers would have been a courtroom set based on when Harry goes into Dumbledore's pensieve and sees Karkaroff, Bellatrix, Barty Jr, Rudolphus and Rabastan Lestrange, and Bagman.

The sets are based on the films with small bits based on the books, none of the characters mentioned above except Karkaroff and Crouch Jr are in the court scene, so it wouldn’t have worked anyway

We've already had Bart Crouch Jr in the CMF set, but I totally agree that we need more villains. If we are still on the earlier movies, then Lucius Malloy had a pretty important role in CoS, and Pettigrew is a must for PoA and GoF. Edited March 2, 2019 by CLK143
Taure Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 (edited) You know what would have been a fun set? Azkaban prison. Although it's not seen directly in Prisoner of Azkaban (book or movie), you do see it in the Order of the Phoenix film, so the source material is there. The way it's depicted in the films is an interesting shape (see below) and it would have been a good opportunity to include some Death Eaters in their cells, a Dementor or two, as well as Sirius in the process of escaping. You could even have included Cornelius Fudge, who said he visited the prison shortly before Sirius escaped. Build-wise, I reckon you could do it hinged at the back, so that you had the full triangular exterior, but then it opens up (splitting down the gully at the front) to reveal the cells. Its a good concept but as has been said a lot of times, the sets are based off the movies. Azkaban was only shown and mentioned a few times, its not big enough in the movies to be a set.

If the graveyard rumor still holds we could get three villains with Lucius, Pettigrew, and baby Voldemort. Maybe a generic death eater as well. Out of all the HP minifigs of past, Wormtail is the one that definetly needs to be updated. His old figure looks nothing like him.

While Lego's set design has improved considerably compared to the original HP Lego waves, thereby justifying updated versions of those sets, it still seems a bit silly that we're getting Hagrid's Hut for the nth time. I don't see why they couldn't look to less prominent items to make into sets to go alongside the new iterations of the "big scenes", especially locations that fans will obviously know well like Azkaban. It's in the title of the book/movie! They take this approach with Star Wars, no reason they couldn't do it with HP. Edited March 2, 2019 by Taure

It's in the title of the book/movie! They take this approach with Star Wars, no reason they couldn't do it with HP. I wasn't into Harry Potter untill a few years ago, so I (alongside many others) are happy we're getting remakes. Hagrid's Hut is a welcome addition, since its the first one to be based on year 3+. There are also a lot of big scenes not made into sets like the Battle of the Department of Mysteries or Room of Requirement. I could even make a list with tons of locations and scenes more prominent than the Azkaban prison (in the movies that is). All in all you should take into consideration this is the first time getting HP sets for most people, therefore remakes of the most iconic locations are very welcome. In the end I don't think HP will end up like Star Wars, the amount of X-Wings is utterly despicable! My last point, you said ''less prominent items will be known well by the fans''. You should always take in mind lego makes 99% of the sets with children in mind, not fans.
BrickBob Studpants Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 Out of all the rumours so far, the graveyard set is still the least likely (despite geing backed by a trustworthy source), which is a shame since that one has some of the best minifig potential in the entire wave As others have pointed out, it‘d be kinda weird to have Macnair as our only named baddie I hope we‘re lucky and it turns out to be a retailer exclusive, just like last year‘s Hogwarts Express
LDDproductions Posted March 2, 2019 Posted March 2, 2019 So the set prices have been leaked and I now assume what we heard from The Random Blocker is fake cuz these figures don’t match with the prices.
