Governor Mister Phes Posted June 22, 2005 Governor Posted June 22, 2005 OMG Phes corrupted everyone in these boards :D ;) Corrupted? NEVER!!! Pirates was the popular LEGO theme of all time! But due to LEGO's poor management it had to go away and everyone forgot of its greatness. I'm merely reminded everyone of that greatness and by the time I've done the whole world will be in love with Pirate LEGO once more... MWUHAHAAHAHAHAHAAHAAAA!!! :^D Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 22, 2005 Governor Posted June 22, 2005 One might think, but I had ordered it before I joined :P and it'll be the last Pirates set I own. And I hardly dare say that my Pirates sets, as nice as they look, all will serve a different purpose in my (hopefully soon to come) layout :o Oh no Hobbes! Don't stop there! You can't! I recommend you get a 6271 Imperial Flagship as it looks quite nice and goes well with the Imperial Trading Post. I've got two of these fine vessels myself. Quote
Hobbes Posted June 23, 2005 Author Posted June 23, 2005 ALthough, I need to say congrats on getting that ship, it is AWESOME! ... and a long build. Took me some hours (guess I'm rusty) ;) PS: The XXL Crane doesn't take that much time, by the way... PPS: No pic of the completed model (yet) cos my camera broke just as I wanted to photograph it :( But I guess everybody knows what it looks like anyways (one could almost consider another pic of a(n) SES spam ;) ) Quote

Life is Good. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 23, 2005 Governor Posted June 23, 2005 No mention of the Crossbone Clipper there Ed! I know how much you love it so I'm suprised you don't have half a dosen of them! Quote
eDeevo Posted June 23, 2005 Posted June 23, 2005 No mention of the Crossbone Clipper there Ed! I know how much you love it so I'm suprised you don't have half a dosen of them! Ahh, very good observation phes... :-D My only Crossbone Clipper was built that day as well, although my daughter didn't seem to like it that much... she loved the Renegade Runner, so it seemed strange, but I can't complain, I think she has good taste... ;) Life is Good. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 24, 2005 Governor Posted June 24, 2005 The Renegade Runner probably is the better ship. But I like the Cross Bone Clipper all the same! Quote
Captain Roger Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 renegade runner design is better than cross bone clipper design, but they aren't so cool as the big ships like Skull's eye schooner Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 26, 2005 Governor Posted June 26, 2005 You got that Schooner built yet Hobbes? Quote
Hobbes Posted June 26, 2005 Author Posted June 26, 2005 Yes, I did. As I mentioned before it took me some hours ;) I can't provide a pic of the finished model, though, cos my camera is being repaired. But you can take a look at "my private gallery" where I shot a few pics while building... That thing sure is big! Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 26, 2005 Governor Posted June 26, 2005 So you did! Dopey me had too much grog last night. Quote
Norro Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Pirates was the popular LEGO theme of all time! 2nd most popular of all time... :-D God Bless, Nathan Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 27, 2005 Governor Posted June 27, 2005 No!!! No!!! LEGO officially did announce (or maybe that should be "claim") that Pirates was the most popular theme of all time. No second place for Pirates laddie! Quote
The Middleman Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 No!!! No!!! LEGO officially did announce (or maybe that should be "claim") that Pirates was the most popular theme of all time. No second place for Pirates laddie! If you count all the Castle lines as one theme, then he's right. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted June 27, 2005 Governor Posted June 27, 2005 What I'm saying is LEGO officially published information saying Pirates were the most popular theme of all time. This was prior to the release of the 4+ Pirate theme and it was also on their website. Paraphrased it read "The most popular LEGO theme of all time makes a return" , unfortunately it was removed from the website after the sets were officially released. Therefore you could say it was a promotional hyperbole, because in terms of popularity evaluated by the number of sets produced and sale figures, Castle, Town and Space would all be more popular than Pirates.
