Pioupiou Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 Hi, this is a very classic and "already seen" theme of MOC but I wanted to work on the water so I did my first little Pirate desert island a few months ago. I did not find a way to easily prevent the plate 48x48 corners to go up.. Quote
TeriXeri Posted December 10, 2018 Posted December 10, 2018 (edited) I had 2 x 6265 Sabre Island sets as a kid, and the shape of the island really reminds me of that 16x16 baseplate but scaled up. Even the Small raft + Minifig reminds me of 6234 Renegade's Raft. Overall it looks great. Edited December 10, 2018 by TeriXeri Quote
Pioupiou Posted December 10, 2018 Author Posted December 10, 2018 It's fun indeed, but these are coincidences since I never had those sets. But, surely I have already seen them on the web and my subconscious has directed my hands :) Regarding the minifigs and palm tree parts, they comes from sets 6260 and 1889 that I bought on Bricklink in order to make this MOC. Fraunces Posted December 11, 2018 Posted December 11, 2018 Looks amazing! The buried chest and the gradual change of deep water - light sand is well done, Quote
Pioupiou Posted December 12, 2018 Author Posted December 12, 2018 Thank you, I have seen in your fllckr that you are a specialist of the Pirate theme ! Quote
Tezclatipoca Posted December 14, 2018 Posted December 14, 2018 Very good job on the water graduations ! A nice MOC ! Keep up the good job ! Quote
Jellyeater Posted December 18, 2018 Posted December 18, 2018 Beautiful water. But I think you could do better palm tree. https://www.flickr.com/photos/pigletciamek/37842585625/in/photostream/ and it would by very nice MOC. Quote
Professor Thaum Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 Yeah, that's nicely done ! a great little island, and this raft is funny Quote

Nice palm trees but but I find it unfortunate that it does not work from every angle :( Thank you all for your comments Quote
Robin_IV Posted January 5, 2019 Posted January 5, 2019 Hey! Beatiful. Keep up that good work I love the view from above with the different colours under the water tiles. Quote
Hartfan Posted January 7, 2019 Posted January 7, 2019 Nicely done. Especially different shades of blue :) Quote
Redhead1982 Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 I like the bird's eye perspective here. The water effect looks good, perhaps you could try wedge plates for a less uniform color transition. I'm missing greenery on the island. I know it's a sandy desert island but the palm tree could have at least some shrubbery around. All in all, I like the build also for the simplicity. Quote
blackdeathgr Posted January 16, 2019 Posted January 16, 2019 (edited) Nice MOC! I particularly like how the water changes color gradually. In order to prevent the "corners going up" effect, you need to fully cover the baseplates you are working with plates (of at least 2 layer) or even better, with bricks (1 layer). That needs of curse significant amount of (blue) plates/bricks but you will have a very sturdy creation in the end. Edited January 16, 2019 by blackdeathgr Quote
