BrickRhodes Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 Hello all, Long time lurker, first time poster! I've recently started uploading my MOC pictures onto Flickr, so I thought I'd share some of them here. This lighthouse is one creation I am particularly proud of. The curvature is achieved using jumper plates. As you can imagine, it took a long time to build. Lego Lighthouse MOC- version 2 by Brick Rhodes, on Flickr Thanks for looking! Quote
carebear Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 Just Amazing Work! love that you made it in black and whit (a beacon of hope ) Thanks for this! Greetings! Quote
LegoModularFan Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 Interesting lighthouse (in a good way), I’ve never seen a curve achieved with only jumper plates before... The texture obtained looks great, I can imagine some great uses for this! I guess the only problem is that it’s probably not very secure... Keep it up! Quote
Captain Dee Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 Whoa... that's a beautiful lighthouse. The jumper plate technique works really well, but it does look a bit fragile. Here I thought building spiral columns from 2x2 jumpers was a pain, but that's child's play compared to this! Keep it up and welcome to Eurobricks! Quote
gotoAndLego Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 That's a good question, is there an internal reinforcement which makes the jumper technique more secure or do you have to be delicate when handling it? Quote
BrickRhodes Posted December 29, 2018 Author Posted December 29, 2018 Thank you everyone for the kind comments! Yes as others have mentioned it is not super secure. There is no internal reinforcement. I'm not sure there is a way to do that without breaking up the pattern. However, the bottom is molded by hinge plates, and the entire assembly creates a fairly stable structure. I just have to be careful if I grab it by the body. Quote
Kjellevirus Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 Looks great. I can't imagine the time you spend on this! Quote
paupadros Posted January 1, 2019 Posted January 1, 2019 That looks really good! I particulary like the "simplified" but very clean look your town has. Looking forward to seeing more from you! Quote
greg3 Posted January 1, 2019 Posted January 1, 2019 That looks very nice!! Love the colour scheme and a clever technique to create the spiral pattern - but very fiddly I can imagine!! Thanks for sharing!! Quote
