I do all of the above My nephew loves to play with Lego. I am 39 and have a 10 year old nephew he thinks that I am the coolest uncle. I also have a bricklink store and he thinks that is so cool. O yea my cats love to play with the Lego also. I saw one of my cats running around with legs sticking out of her mouth. I thought I was gonna die laughing.

I do all three! As soon as I finish a set, I always give it a play test, often with other sets from the same theme. This especially works well with Starwars, Mars Mission, Exo-Force, or other high tech combat themes. :sweet:

When I'm done playing with it, I often put the finished kit on my shelves or in my town display. I have all my Bionicles displayed upstairs in my bedroom, and Exo-force and a couple of other themes on shelves in my home's family room. :sweet:

And of course, eventually I take apart the sets for a time to see what else I can make with the pieces - although many of my creations never get uploaded to the internet, I do usually take pictures of them. :classic:

Sadly I've been finding myself doing less and less playing, even after I finish a set, I play with it for afew minutes, but then I just set it somewhere, and it eventually degrades and is parted out for the current moc.

All the spare time I have, any time I spend with lego's, seems to be spent moc'ing.

Sadly, I have no room to show off my builds, no place for an expansive layout anymore, etc.

A few months ago I would have selected all of the options, but I finally got around to put some order in my collection, so it isn't a big mess anymore. :classic:

As for what I consider in the other category, is that I try to use my Lego for other things than initially intended. Like I used to play Unreal Tournament with a custom character in Lego minifig form (and I'm creating a new one for the UT III though it's currently put on hold, as I haven't got much time, lately) or help my sister do her engineering project by building some generic prosthetics (she's in biomedical engineering) to illustrate where the axis are and such...

and of course I play and MOC with them... I find it really hard when I see two displayed starfighters not to pick them up and swoosh them in a nice dogfight all over the room (home made special sound effects all included  )

I think all AFOLs play with their LEGO. People who "MOC" are playing just as much as those who tell stories or build sets. We all take enjoyment from playing and manipulating these amazing plastic bricks and no matter how you cut it, it's still play. I may not "swoosh" or tell stories, but I definitely feel that I'm playing when I'm building a MOC. At the end of the day, I'm just a big kid who loves his bricks.

Well, for instance, when I buy a Tiny Turbo, I build it, and play with it for a while. Then after a few days it goes into my parts bin. Once in a while, I will rebuild it. Then it gets taken apart again.

building is playing to me. browing lego related websites is playing too, as is visiting lego events. oh, and taking pictures of my mocs and putting them online, that's playing too. so I play a lot - but I voted 3. (I'm a moc'er) because i don't play with it in the traditional sense of the word.

I choose the "display" option  . When I started collecting LSW I was a kid so I really played with my sets, I really miss all does titanic battles where all the "battlefield" (AKA sets  ) where massively destroyed and rebuilded at the end :cry_happy: . Now I am a dedicated collector so I try to don´t mix or lose any piece and I leave my sets totally complete  , I have a special room where I display all my collection that is free of sunlight and more organized then my room  .

It seems I have a different opinion to many of you. I like to build my sets, then I'll keep them until I need parts for MOCs. But I see no purpose in displaying someone else's design, with a few exeptions such as the BSB and Metroliner.

But define 'playing'. If by playing you mean driving your pirate ships around the lounge room floor yelling "Fire!", then I suppose I play.
