Siegfried Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 What happened was there was a pricing error when 10185 was first released for Australians - instead of $AUD250, it was listed as $AUD150 - so I bought 4 instead of 2! Hence the extra floors. I love this layout so much I still have it set up, over 18 months later, which is rare. Ahhh... good times! I forgot it was you who did this and I'm surprised it's still together. I only could wish TLC released the middlefloors of the sets as partspack! Yeah, I'm surprised TLG hasn't done this yet. Quote
Rick Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Yeah, I'm surprised TLG hasn't done this yet. Hmm, indeed, sounds like an easy cash cow for TLG. Quote
Derek Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Hmm, indeed, sounds like an easy cash cow for TLG. True, but of course they want you to pay full price for the set if you want to add more levels. I ordered my Green Grocer this weekend (The $120 sale price and free shipping got me ) and I can't wait for it to come! Svelte's pictures make me even more excited! I can't wait to see the expanded Fire Brigade! -darthperson Quote
Big Cam Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 WOW, that's alot of green grocer action. Brilliant pics, thanks for doing that and sharing! Quote
muffinman42 Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 True, but of course they want you to pay full price for the set if you want to add more levels. if i brought a moduler building i would want anouther floor, but im not happy to pay for anouther set, so lego loses money from people not buying. it like to see somebody make a streight cafe corner. Fumoffu Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Very very nice. Amazing how just different combos can give such different and fantastic results. Definitely makes my lone GG looks very very average now. Now I want to go out and get at least another GG but that's a fairly big hit to the bank. I agree that Lego should release floors as partspack. Quote
Dr Kilroy Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Nice pics. That's my favourite: Hey, do you see this building on left in the background? Tan Grocer! :D Quote
prateek Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 That's really cool. Thanks for sharing. I really like the "piece de resistance." It looks like one really big building Quote
quietworkshop Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 Svelte, Thanks for your instantaneous reply! I'm was a little tired - I actually meant to ask CopMike (who stated he bought extra levels for his Cafe Corner) but your reply is great too...since you bought & built additional levels also. You must've been VERY happy to get all four sets when they came for the marked down price! I think $AUD250 is something like $220 USD, so indeed we (US) pay a lot less for the sets, although I thought $140 USD was somewhat pricey anyway...but it's nothing compared to what you pay. I've already bought & built one Cafe Corner and one Green Grocer. After seeing the additional levels in the back of the Cafe Corner instruction booklet, I just new that I had to add more...so I promptly ordered two more sets...shortly after which I saw your thread and decided once again that one more additional level just wasn't enough! Oops! This is the first LEGO set I have purchased in more then a decade! In fact, I had all my bricks tucked away in a box somewhere for all of my teenage years. Now 21+ and I just can't help it! I am definitely going to take the time to inventory the 2nd floor and see what I can get together on Bricklink in terms of pricing. I hope to add another 4-5 levels and outdo you a little Svelte I will report back with my findings and/or results. Thanks all... Quote
Vaders_son Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 Great pictures Svelte, and good to know someone else outside the US is lucky sometimes Mayeb Lego will release floors as parts packs once the sets themselves are not sold any longer? The parts pack wouldn't compete with the sets then after all... Benny Quote
snowvictim Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 The roofs are symmetrical. One's just lower than the other. Quote
CityBuilder Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Those are pretty cool, but wow this is a very old topic! Good things never get old though. Quote
Venunder Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Jealous x2, and Jealous x4. If only lego would remake this set..... ? Quote
