Captain Nemo Posted January 10, 2019 Posted January 10, 2019 The Moth-Mobile As is well established fact, Killer Moth is without a doubt the most feared and successful criminal mastermind...to ever hover--menacingly--near streetlights within the city limits of Gotham between 8:00 and 9:45 PM. Along with his trusty sidekick partner co-boss Firefly, the two villains have conquered all within their sight! And it's all thanks to...the Moth-Mobile? I've finally finished what is surely to be my most popular of Moth themed builds, the Moth-Mobile. An idiotically designed monstrosity, with the color scheme of an exploded paint factory, that liberally steals aesthetics from multiple different lesser Batmobiles of a number of different eras, while simultaneously throwing out all those important little things like ground clearance, seat belts, and even the barest hint of structural support around the driver's seat face. The Moth-Mobile! This is the most dangerous vehicle on the road, particularly for those who sit inside it. It has duel mounted machine guns and a battering ram face. The uniquely shaped cockpit is sculpted entirely out of a thin layer shatter proof glass, so you can really see everything coming your way! Also no trunk space. Two neon spoiler wings are attached at the back--to both bring up debilitating flashbacks of Batman & Robin as well as give you the false impression that it can fly. It can't. The back mudguards too might remind you of Batman v Superman, in case you were not angry enough. But don't worry, the large Tumbler-esque tires at the back will surely make you wish this was a Tumbler. It isn't. As you clearly know, the Moth-Mobile was well crafted, and as such it has room for two full passengers and their legs! Styled in a tandem-bicycle form the seats and this interior are also fashionable. I mean just look at that pink leather! And who needs doors when you can climb right in through the sun-roof. That was intentional too! Go get em' boys! --- Well that was fun. I built this like, six or seven months ago--whenever the first pictures of Firefly leaked--and I've been waiting for his physical release to show this off, because you can't have Killer Moth without Firefly. It was an arduous wait to say the least. I'm rather happy with how this vehicle turned out, particularly its utterly gaudy design. Also I'm gonna try something new, so let's see how this goes: As I know Killer Moth is rather popular in the Lego community--due in part to his frequent appearances in the Lego games and multiple physical minifigures--I did take the liberty to preemptively create "instructions" of the Moth-Mobile (as well as my Catmobile) using Bricklink's new Stud.io system. I've never used Stud.io before, so if they're a bit rough then...oh well. You can download the free files of the Moth-Mobile and Catmobile from my Bricklink Studio page. Enjoy! And make you drive fast and recklessly kids! Quote
Merch Posted January 10, 2019 Posted January 10, 2019 It's pretty spectacular. I especially like the design of the bubble cockpit and how prominent it is. Great use of colour as well. Quote
GrandDukeofKumquats Posted January 10, 2019 Posted January 10, 2019 So many wonderful angles! Love the face! Love the thin windshields around the cockpit! Love the mudguards and wheel rims! Quote
BaneShake Posted January 10, 2019 Posted January 10, 2019 Brilliant as ever, Captain Nemo! Who's next? Calendar Man?Condiment King? Polka-Dot Man? Quote
Duncan Young Posted January 10, 2019 Posted January 10, 2019 This is fantastic! This is so far the only Moth-Mobile moc I've seen, and it will likely remain the best for some time. I love how you kept the basics of the original car while adding in all those little references to the various Batmobile designs across the years. Then, you've got room to fit Gar too? Wonderful! As a massive Moth and company fan (I mean, just look at my Flickr page ) this makes me so happy, especially because of the instructions. I guess I have a new mission now... Quote
Anonknee Muss Posted January 10, 2019 Posted January 10, 2019 This is beyond amazing! There’s no gap in the cockpit, you managed to handle that fantastically. The front of the car has been built so well! 11/10! Quote

Captain Nemo Posted January 10, 2019 Author Posted January 10, 2019 Thank you everyone--this was a fun build, and I'm happy everyone seems to enjoy it. 7 hours ago, BaneShake said: Brilliant as ever, Captain Nemo! That's all I'm gonna say! 6 hours ago, Duncan Young said: As a massive Moth and company fan (I mean, just look at my Flickr page ) this makes me so happy, especially because of the instructions. Despite his appearances in Lego, Killer Moth doesn't seem to have too many actual builds. Now I just have to get to work on a Moth-Cave! Quote
Duncan Young Posted January 10, 2019 Posted January 10, 2019 @Captain Nemo Just don't forget the Moth-Copter haha! I always thought the '66 Batcopter would be a good base for something like that Quote
RedHoodPug Posted January 10, 2019 Posted January 10, 2019 This MOC, like all of your previous builds, is awesome. I love all of the features and especially that cockpit. It sits well with the Catmobile, and is as you say, quite the monstrosity. Quote
Robert8 Posted January 10, 2019 Posted January 10, 2019 Excellent I wish LEGO would do more stuff like this. The Egghead mech was great and something like this would be amazing Quote
SteampunkDoc Posted January 11, 2019 Posted January 11, 2019 Haha! I love it! It's a wonderfully quirky ride for a wonderfully quirky villain. The running commentary with the pictures was an added treat. Quote
InvisibleTimmy Posted January 11, 2019 Posted January 11, 2019 Most entertaining description I've read since the back cover of a Terry Pratchett book. Quote
BigGuy4U Posted January 11, 2019 Posted January 11, 2019 It looks about as ridiculous as I'd expect, which means you nailed it. Nice work! Quote
Venefic Posted January 12, 2019 Posted January 12, 2019 First words were wow, this is just amazing! The colours and design are just top notch. Quote
Exetrius Posted January 13, 2019 Posted January 13, 2019 This thing is buzzing (see what I did there? ) with cool angles and build techniques! From the face, to the side exhausts facing down and backwards, to the cockpit canopy, to the rear fenders and translucent tail wings; fantastic work! Quote
RacerRabbit Posted January 14, 2019 Posted January 14, 2019 (edited) That's a cool car! I like how you've made the glass canopy. Edited January 14, 2019 by RacerRabbit Quote
HyperOnion Posted January 15, 2019 Posted January 15, 2019 Great build, and an even better write up! Quote
Dadster Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 Fun and cool looking! Catmobile is neat too. Quote
