January 14, 20196 yr Your model has the same mistakes like 42049, starting from functionality, trough overal design failures, ending with wrongly placed details. You have just made 42049 from Arocs parts, it could be much better, because 42043 comes with pneumatics, which would allow to make really great model, that could overpass easilly that official garbage. Starting from cab; should be turned by 90 degrees, and mining loaders have briight white lights on front and back. Edited January 14, 20196 yr by M_longer

Yes, it was just option to build mine loader from Arocs without needing any other set, that was the goal. Also adding some 'operation or moving parts' to the model, to make it more playable for my almost 3 years old son. I've also changed wheel axle mechanism + adding motor and 4x4 drive, because there was enough space. There is no space for pneumatics and linear acutator to be added to the model. If i'd have another universal joint, i'd make bucket lifting operated rfom rear part of the model as well, but there isn one. Even Arocs is perfect set as parts donor, I don't like peumatick arm, because it is not working correctly. I had it built just once. With details you are correct, i have totally missed cabin and steering wheel position on pictures, the same for rear lights Both of them doesn't carry any function, so can be easily updated

I am saying about creating new model from scratch, not updating this one, based on badly designed set. You still have that long axle going under the arm, between two universal joints?
January 16, 20196 yr I think @M_longer You might sound a bit harsh on your first comment, but we know Your straightforward style . Still, some encouragement and enjoying the shared fun of the hobby doesn't hurt, we all started somewhere, right? @ace_klimax Welcome to the forum, nice approach on a C-model. Though indeed the 42049 is not the greatest set ever, there is some nice alternative solutions which worth to look at (bucket, engine). I hope you had fun time to create both the real model and the digital one! I agree with M_longer about not to update this one, the 42043 has much more potential as part pack, so why not to build more C models in the future?

I work in underground mine, I see low profile machines every day. 42049 is pathetic, set itself was designed without keeping the core rules of the Technic line, the price cutting is more than visible, and as an icing on the cake - it completely dissapointed me as a fan of mining machinery ;)

I did actually buy two of those, none are built though, just bought them for parts, I like those tires and yellow lift arms and I can always use more black pins.

Thanks Me and my son found this model when watching some youtube videos and he liked it. It's hardly to be found to buy, so I took 42043 and built it from this set. The goal is to build small to mid-size models. Sturdy enough, it won't fall apart when played by 3 years old, but adding as much 'functions' as possible. For children optics the overal shape is definitelly unimportant as long is it has many gears, wheels, paddles, etc. to play with. Even though I'm trying to keep the shape realistic enough, so it will match actual real existing vehicle I have 3 more MOCs from 42043 Mercedes Benz Arocs. All are in queue for creating instructions. And on another one I'm wotking right now. 3 of them are alternatives of existing older lego model technic models from (2005-2012).My time is limited, so it should take months to finish :(
