Hello everyone,

Earlier ago, I had reviewed the new 80101 Chinese New Year's Eve Dinner and 80102 Dragon Dance with my recent local purchase in Singapore. It was also accompanied with in-store promotion where this exclusive set is given away with minimum purchase of SGD$88.00 and above in LEGO Certified Stores and in some other retail channels as well. I reckon this is not as widely available as the previously available of 40235 Year of the Dog. This exclusive giveaway normally happen in the first 2 months of Chinese New Year promotion and it started since 2015 with the 40148 Year of the Sheep. I am not exactly sure of the availability of this particular item, other than hearing the same reports where the Asia Pacific Exclusive for the Chinese New Year sets are resided. Without further ado, let me share my simple perspective of this cute little promotional set.

Name: 40186 Year of the Pig
Theme: LEGO System / Seasonal / Chinese New Year / Brick Built Animals
Year: 2019
Pieces: 152
Minifigs: NA
Price: NA
Resources: Brickset, BrickLinkBrick Insights

This is the LEGO Chinese New Year exclusive for 2019

This is the fifth release not counting the 10250 Year of the Snake release. We had seen previous ones for the years featuring Sheep, Monkey, Rooster and Dog. Pig will be the main highlight for the 12 Chinese Zodiacs in 2019. Collecting these promotional sets require incredible amount of patience as you needed at least 12 years to complete the entire cycle. Seeing TLG being committed to make this as a yearly tradition which is welcoming in the region such as China and Asia Pacific. There is also a limited edition "red packet" which is part of the Chinese New Year tradition. Giving red packets is a channel for sending good wishes and luck. The significance of red packets is the red paper, not the money inside. Wrapping money in red packets is hoped to bring more happiness and blessing to the receivers. However, don't you ever open in front of the giver which is an impolite action. I haven't opened the rest of my boxes yet and this will certainly be a nice sight to behold when the eventual 12 Chinese Zodiacs come together. My only grip is the availability of this set and we will probably never know how extensive these will be available now and the future ahead.

The completed built of the Pig

The completed built of the Pig is lovely and cute. It is posable by able to turn its heads, ears, hands and legs to increase playability instead of having it static. The overall built is well articulated and you can just instantly identified the animal. You can separate the Pig from the garden base easily which you can use it to set in the City display or to include it as a funny icon in the MOC. You can enjoy viewing more of the other angles from the back view and side view

The pig ears are adjustable

Let's usher the Year of the Pig with a big bang

To conclude, this is a great nice looking display set. I am a fan of Pigs and having this brick built animal in my collection is definitely great to have. The usage of mixel ball joint parts and the rotating disc helped to increased the playability. I am glad to be able to get this promotional set without much problem. Unfortunately, this set had been fully redeemed even though this in-store promotion should run till end of this month. I hope you can access to this set without having to pay an exorbitant price for it.

Summary review
Playability: 9/10 (Fun to play with especially turning around the head, hands, legs and ears.)
Design: 9/10 (Great design and I think the pig is well portrayed in this brick built.)
Price: 6/10 (No strong pricing indication, but due to its exclusivity which made me scored lower for its purchase with gift criteria.)
Overall: 8/10 (Get this promotional set without break your piggy bank.)

I gave it a "5" based on my Review Score Card. What about yours?

I hope every one of you enjoyed reading this simple review of mine. Comments and Criticisms are strongly welcomed.
