ZlatanXVIGustaf Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 It’s funny how these types of threads always turn into genital measuring contests. Though, I have to admit, it’s very entertaining to read. The rarest thing I own is probably 51163cx1. Quote

I guess the Dark Knight Batman minifig I have is also a rare/desirable figure. Quote
Tariq j Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 The rarest I can think of is the Percival Graves/Gellert Grindelwald figure from the Harry Potter CMF line. Plus there's some of the May 4th Figures as well. (Though they've definitely been re released during various Force Friday's). Quote
jimmynick Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 It seems that the non-LUL Mace Windu from 2006 is the rarest minifigure I own. Quote
ukbajadave Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 This is my rarest piece as I only have one in this colour... Have I misunderstood the thread? Quote
Peppermint_M Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 That is a pleasingly sorted box. Ooo, it is just lovely to look at. Quote

And yet it gets the largest bin. Don't think you misunderstood at all. Curious, what color is that? I wonder how many I have, if any. Quote

It appears to be your standard technic Dark Bluish Grey. The odd thing is all my sets are in rebrickable which says I have 231 of these in Black, Red, White, Yellow and Light Grey but 0 in DBG? Quote
Johnny1360 Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 Well that seems odd, if it is DBG, I have 35 loose, probably many more in assembled sets and gobs of them in red. Quote
HawkLord Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 My minifigure sets from the Lego store grand openings at the Alderwood Mall in 2012 and Southcenter Mall in 2015, both in WA. The Alderwood Mall set has a cool skyline of Seattle on the background, while the Southcenter one is fairly generic. I also really like the chrome red VIP keychain Lego mailed out to VIP members back in 2013. Then lastly, polybag Hulk from 2012. Quote
caiman0637 Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 I got this: Number 867, I think, out of 1200. Quote
Alexandrina Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 I'm not sure I have much that's especially rare. I've got the classic Yellow Castle with four grey visors rather than one of each colour, but I picked it up second-hand in a bulk lot so I don't know if it was a mispackage that came that way or if the original owner traded the coloured visors with friends who owned the same set back in the day. Other than that, the rarest figure I have is probably Queen Amidala from the Gungan Sub, based on her resale price. I also have set 2064 Air Ambulance, which only 180 people have according to Rebrickable and the similarly rare 7696 Commuter Jet. I always used to get the promotional set on the plane when I went on my summer holidays around that time, which has done more for the rarity of my collection than anything I've bought at retail/hunted down elsewhere. Lira_Bricks Posted March 18, 2021 Posted March 18, 2021 I have this ugly thing: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=53532&idColor=80#T=C&C=80 I also have a big brick from Lego Factory 2006. Dunno about other parts that might be rare that I own... Quote
Lego David Posted March 18, 2021 Author Posted March 18, 2021 I own a white recolor of the part 32567 Bionicle Mask Ruru. Where exactly this recolor came from is unknown, but it is believed to be a rare factory misprint of sorts. Its current resell value according to Bricklink is around 20$, which surely is something for just a single piece. Quote

Its still a pretty rare piece though. I was so lucky to have found it in a random bulk of Bionicle parts. Quote
Stuartn Posted March 19, 2021 Posted March 19, 2021 My rarest figure is an aquarist version of the max character from the magazine. It was given out at a lego exhibition at the Sydney aquarium and wildlife centre at Darling harbour. Unfortunately I got it when I was about six or seven so while the torso print is still quite good I cannot specifically locate or vouch for the quality of the head. I am not sure if it was an official figure or something custom printed for the event Quote
AmperZand Posted March 19, 2021 Posted March 19, 2021 (edited) Despite the fact that I have been an AFOL since 1993, I don't have many LEGO or LEGO-related rarities and the ones I do have are not that uncommon. @Peppermint_M, you can put your tape measure away! Of course, if I grabbed a handful of random pieces and assembled them in some weird way, the odds of someone having done exactly the same - even with the huge numbers of people who own LEGO - is vanishingly small. So in that sense, it's not hard to have something made of LEGO that is rare. I have some MOCs and mods that no-one has seen but me. Chances are, at least some of those are unique. The difficulty is that as soon as you attempted to test the rarity of what you had made, someone would copy you out of spite. In terms of rare LEGO products as sold... I have a couple of the wizard's hats in red (one is pictured on the left in my photo below). Although they are LEGO, they were never officially included in any set and were probably test pieces for LEGO's moulds. I also have 6599 Shark Attack (stock picture below that) mint in its sealed box which I bought by accident. I have a couple of System goats that were only available in one set for about six months: one in my display collection and one in reserve. I have a few unopened Series 1, 2 and later CMFs that I got for spares. I have one of the 2011 Ninjago blister packs that I never opened. I think I have some Fantasy Era and/or Kingdoms impulse (small format) sets mint in sealed boxes - but I'm not sure! I have a mis-moulded hair/beard part that somehow slipped through LEGO's quality control. At first glance, it doesn't appear mis-cast. It's only when you look closely that you realise there are bits missing. I got it directly from LEGO so know it wasn't damaged by someone else. I think I have a LEGO catalogue in Japanese from a few years ago but I'm not sure where I put it. I have a System mountain lion that isn't rare at all but I got it in error a few months before it appeared in any set or indeed in any picture. So it was pretty rare at the time. Collector245 Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 The rarest set I own would be the 1237 1/2 esso service station set from 1956. Sold only in Norway and Sweden. Only 2 examples of this set known (mine included). Lego themselves do not even have this set in their archives! Quote

How do you know Lego does not have the set in their archives? Quote
hagridshut Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 Looking around my collection, I don't think I own anything that is particularly rare. All the sets I bought were easily available at numerous box stores during the late 1980's through the mid-1990's. Quote

I was in that situation with another hobby (tabletop gaming, not LEGO). I had one of only two of an item known to exist and mine is by far in the better condition. Pictures of mine were featured in a book. 4 hours ago, hagridshut said: Looking around my collection, I don't think I own anything that is particularly rare. No LEGO set I bought or received as a child went unopened. I don't think any of my old sets are anywhere close to mint, although aside from some discoloration, the pieces are all still as usable as they were 30 years ago! Quote
